I&#39;m getting the following error: ***&quot;The method getSupportFragmentManager() is undefined for the type new View.OnClickListener(){}&quot;*** in my fragment file shown below.

I have the compatibility library referenced through ABS and the proper imports in place. I reinstalled ABS library w/ the compatibility library, cleaned the project, restarted Eclipse, but nothing has worked.

Essentially, I&#39;m trying to get the fragment to show a date picker through a dialog fragment. Once the date is picked, it must be returned to the fragment so it can be used to calculate information based on that date.

getSupportFragmentManager() is undefined

I have a `OnItemSelectedListener` for my `Spinner`, but it is not called when the selected item is the same as the previous one. Apparently the `OnClickListener` is not an option for a `Spinner`.
I need to catch everytime a user click on an item. Any idea?

Maybe the fact that this `Spinner` is inside the `ActionBar` disturbs normal behavior?

Spinner : onItemSelected not called when selected item remains the same

I am trying to put an indeterminate ProgressBar on the actionBar. I was using an actionView to put the progressBar like Google+ app for example.

the problem is that the progress bar is considered as an item and therefore on a Nexus S portrait mode I have only one other item on the actionbar while on Google+ I can see two items plus the progressBar. 
How is it possible to put a progressbar using the android actionbar?

I am trying to get the ActionBar working properly on my app (and I&#39;m using ActionBarSherlock to get a unified UI between Android 2.x and 4.x). 

I feel like `android:showAsAction=&quot;ifRoom&quot;` is just a big, fat lie. Whenever I set an action to `ifRoom` it ALWAYS shows up in the overflow menu even if there is PLENTY of room. Here are two screenshots from the same emulator. The first shows the ActionBar with all options set to `always` and the second shows the ActionBar with the last two options set to `ifRoom`. As you can see, there was PLENTY of room when they were all shown in the `always` screenshot, so why aren&#39;t they all showing in the second because they DO have room?

What is the difference between [ActionBarSherlock][1] and [Action Bar Compatibility][2]

Fews days ago Google just released the ActionBar Compatibility that make me so confused. Is that the Action Bar Compatibility works same as the ActionBarSherlock and is the coding same? 

Example : Does [app icon to navigate &quot;up&quot;][3] or ActionBar.Tab supported in Action Bar Compatibility ?

Difference between ActionBarSherlock and ActionBar Compatibility

Is there a android standard badge or method to show action bar notification icon with a count like on Google examples?

For tab2 though, I have a fragment the xml file of which holds a ViewPager element which in turn has some fragment pages. When I initially start the application the application, I am able to switch between tabs no problem but when I press on tab2 for the second time I get the error mentioned above. From what I&#39;ve read in different places (and please correct me if I&#39;m wrong), this happens because the fragment manager on the second pass tries to reuse the fragments from the activity which doesn&#39;t exist anymore thus giving the error.But I&#39;m not sure why this happens over here since I&#39;m not using  fragment activity. According to logcat the error is in the Tab2 class, onViewCreated method on the line that says mViewPager.setAdapter(mMyFragmentPagerAdapter). Any help is greatly appreciated...Thanks.

How to display custom view in ActionBar?

UnsupportedOperationException: Can&#39;t convert to dimension: type=0x1

I have been searching everywhere for a proper solution to my problem and I can&#39;t seem to find one yet. I have an ActionBar (ActionBarSherlock) with a menu that is inflated from an XML file and that menu contains one item and that one item is shown as an ActionItem. 

**menu:**

The ActionItem is displayed with an icon and no text however when a user clicks on the ActionItem, I want the icon to begin animating, more specifically, rotating in place. The icon in question is a refresh icon.

I realize that ActionBar has support for using custom views ([Adding an Action View][1]) however this custom view is expanded to cover the entire area of the ActionBar and actually blocks everything except the app icon, which in my case is not what I was looking for. 

So my next attempt was to try to use AnimationDrawable and define my animation frame-by-frame, set the drawable as the icon for the menu item, and then in `onOptionsItemSelected(MenuItem item)` get the icon and begin animating using `((AnimationDrawable)item.getIcon()).start()`. This however was unsuccessful. Does anyone know of any way to accomplish this effect?

Animated Icon for ActionItem

How can I implement a custom `onClickListener` for the Home button of the Action Bar?

I already did a `getSupportActionBar().setDisplayHomeAsUpEnabled(true);` and now I want to redirect the user to a certain activity in case the Home button is clicked.

I tried with:

I&#39;ve added the `Thread.sleep` part to simulate downloading data. The code in the `onPostExecute` is to simulate use of the `Fragment`.

When I rotate the screen very fast between landscape and portrait, I get an Exception at the `onPostExecute` code: 

&gt; java.lang.IllegalStateException: Fragment MyFragment{410f6060} not
&gt; attached to Activity

I think it&#39;s because a new `MyFragment` has been created in the meantime, and was attached to the Activity before the `AsyncTask` finished. The code in `onPostExecute` calls upon a unattached `MyFragment`.

But how can I fix this?

I need to display both `icon` and `title` of action inside `ActionBar`.

I&#39;m also trying to import the ABS in new updated Android Studio.
I&#39;m following [this][1] tutorial.

Gradle Location is incorrect. here is pic.

When I go to the path `C:\Users\Sir John Qadir\` there is no any gradle1.6 folder in there. How to resolve this?

I know it&#39;s not possible using the native API. Is there a workaround to implement that kind of view?

How To show icons in Overflow menu in ActionBar

I have an `Activity` where I load in a `ListFragment` and, upon clicking, it drills down a level and a new type of `ListFragment` is shown, replacing the original one (using the `showFragment` method below). This is placed on the back stack.

At the beginning, the activity shows the default title in the action bar (i.e. it&#39;s set automatically based on the application&#39;s `android:label`).

When showing the list for the next level in the hierarchy, the name of the item clicked on should become the action bar&#39;s title.

However, when pressing &lt;kbd&gt;Back&lt;/kbd&gt;, I would like the original default title to be restored.  This isn&#39;t something `FragmentTransaction` knows about, so the title isn&#39;t restored.

I&#39;ve vaguely read about `FragmentBreadCrumbs`, but this seems to require using a custom view. I&#39;m using ActionBarSherlock and would prefer to not have my own custom title view.

What is the best way of doing this?  Is it possible without a load of boilerplate code and having to keep track of the titles shown along the way?

I&#39;m trying to use the [ActionBarSherlock][1] library to provide backwards compatible ActionBar support with tabs in my Android app, so I downloaded the latest build, built the demo, and ran it.

I can&#39;t move forward with my app until this is fixed. I wrote a bunch of code, set up the action bar in my app, and tried to run it, and it crashes with an NPE because of the null return value on the `getSupportActionBar()` call.

Android: getSupportActionBar() always returns null in ActionBarSherlock library

According to [Action Bar Icons][1] action bar icon for the mdpi screen should be 24 x 24 px but the icons in [Action Bar Icon Pack][2] for mdpi are 32 x 32 px. The sizes do not match for other screen sizes neither. So which one is correct and what dimensions should the action bar icon have?

Action Bar icon size

I have a Sherlock Fragment Activity in which there are 3 Fragments.

Fragment A, Fragment B, Fragment C are three fragments. I want to show a done option menu in Fragment B only.


And the activity is started with Fragment A. When Fragment B is selected done button is added.

But this is not hiding at all, also it is giving NullPointerException when Activity if first started with Fragment A.


Please let me know what is the problem.

I am using Jake&#39;s [ViewPageIndicator][1] and want to display Images like a swipe gallery.

While using the `ActionBarSherlock` in xml at:
