Is there a way to specify some action items to the top part of the Split Action Bar while the others go to the bottom? Or is it all or nothing, whereby all the action items go to the bottom part of the split only?

I got pretty helpful hints to my last questions, I hope it won&#39;t be different this time :) First, let me explain the situation. I have an activity with 2 fragments. For each fragment I have a xml menu layout, the first has four menu entries, the second one has only one. Now at first the fragment with the four menu entries is loaded.
In its onCreate method I set

    this.setHasOptionsMenu(true);

the onCreateOptionsMenu method

But in the new fragment I can&#39;t see any menu items. Neither in the action bar, nor when I press the hardware menu button. In the former fragment, two menu items were in the actionbar, the remaining two appeared when the hardware button was pressed. But here nothing is shown. I get the logcat message that the onCreateOptionsMenu method got called, but nothing happens. (I even get a call to my (empty) onPrepareOptionsMenu method, which should be called right before the menu is shown, still nothing) Any clue what could be wrong? Calling invalidateOptionsMenu doesn&#39;t do a thing. Besides, I don&#39;t know for sure which one to call, as there is a getActivity().invalidateOptionsMenu and a getFragmentManager().invalidateOptionsMenu...

I am trying to get the ActionBar working properly on my app (and I&#39;m using ActionBarSherlock to get a unified UI between Android 2.x and 4.x). 

I feel like `android:showAsAction=&quot;ifRoom&quot;` is just a big, fat lie. Whenever I set an action to `ifRoom` it ALWAYS shows up in the overflow menu even if there is PLENTY of room. Here are two screenshots from the same emulator. The first shows the ActionBar with all options set to `always` and the second shows the ActionBar with the last two options set to `ifRoom`. As you can see, there was PLENTY of room when they were all shown in the `always` screenshot, so why aren&#39;t they all showing in the second because they DO have room?

How to set menu to Toolbar in Android

I have a PopupWindow on my activity, the thing is my PopupWindow still shows even when I&#39;m interacting with my activity (say scrolling on my list).  I can scroll through my list and the PopupWindow is still there.


What I want to achieve is when I&#39;m touching/scrolling/clicking/etc on the screen which is not the PopupWindow, I want to dismiss the PopupWindow.  Just like how a menu works.  If you clicked outside of the menu, the menu will be dismissed.

I&#39;ve tried `setOutsideTouchable(true)` but it won&#39;t dismiss the window.  Thanks.

I have a `PopupMenu` and I know the usual way to associate a menu to it is to use `popup.getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.my_menu, popup.getMenu());` or something of the like. My problem is, I have an array of items that I want in the menu and I need to be able to change them programmatically in Java. How can I do this?

My problem is that the second menu item doesn&#39;t appear to be &quot;checkable&quot; when I run my app in the Android emulator. There should be a green tick about the item, right? To indicate that its checkable. 

Am I doing something wrong? 




Android Checkable Menu Item

i am setting an actionLayout on a menu item and setting background color and image, but it&#39;s not respected. in my activity, i have:

    getMenuInflater().inflate(R.menu.submit_action, menu);

my submit_action is:

but even with all of this setup, this is how the action bar appears, not showing my menuitem at all (but it&#39;s there, because it responds to the click, but doesn&#39;t appear):

actionlayout on menuitem does nothing

I am attempting to update my android application to look better for tablets running Honeycomb. As such, I am targeting version 11 of the SDK (my minSdkVersion = 4). This adds the Honeycomb theme to my app, making it look better. However, I have no way to access my menu options. So, I am attempting to add my menu items as an action bar item with the following in the file in my /res/menu/ folder: 

    android:showAsAction=&quot;ifRoom|withText&quot;

However, I get the following error: 

&gt;No resource identifier found for attribute &#39;showAsAction&#39; in package &#39;android&#39;

I tried altering my minSdkVersion number to 11 to see if it would work, but no luck. Any ideas? Thanks!

I&#39;m building an Android application and I&#39;m trying to build a user management system where users can login, logout, etc. I want to display a login menu item if the user is logged out and a logout button if the user is logged in. How can I do this dynamically?

I tried to construct a search item and a overflow item which you can see in the above code. I&#39;m new to Action bar menu items so i tried to Google it and was able to make it work as I need. 

In this I have to know one more thing.

**1.** What is `orderInCategory` with some numbers and what for it is used..?
