My hope was, that I would see this debug output the moment I click on something in the list. But the debug output is never shown in LogCat.

**P.S.** I do not want to use `.stop();` method because it is deprecated.

Are there any exemplary examples of the GoF Observer implemented in Python?  I have a bit code which currently has bits of debugging code laced through the key class (currently generating messages to stderr if a magic env is set). Additionally, the class has an interface for incrementally return results as well as storing them (in memory) for post processing.  (The class itself is a job manager for concurrently executing commands on remote machines over ssh).

Currently the usage of the class looks something like:

    job = SSHJobMan(hostlist, cmd)
    job.start()
    while not job.done():
        for each in job.poll():
            incrementally_process(job.results[each])
            time.sleep(0.2) # or other more useful work
    post_process(job.results)

An alernative usage model is:

    job = SSHJobMan(hostlist, cmd)
    job.wait()  # implicitly performs a start()
    process(job.results)

This all works fine for the current utility.  However it does lack flexibility.  For example I currently support a brief output format or a progress bar as incremental results, I also support
brief, complete and &quot;merged message&quot; outputs for the `post_process()` function.

However, I&#39;d like to support multiple results/output streams (progress bar to the terminal, debugging and warnings to a log file, outputs from successful jobs to one file/directory, error messages and other results from non-successful jobs to another, etc).

This sounds like a situation that calls for Observer ... have instances of my class accept registration from other objects and call them back with specific types of events as they occur.

I&#39;m looking at [PyPubSub](http://pypi.python.org/pypi/PyPubSub/) since I saw several references to that in SO related questions.  I&#39;m not sure I&#39;m ready to add the external dependency to my utility but I could see value in using their interface as a model for mine if that&#39;s going to make it easier for others to use.  (The project is intended as both a standalone command line utility and a class for writing other scripts/utilities).

In short I know how to do what I want ... but there are numerous ways to accomplish it.  I want suggestions on what&#39;s most likely to work for other users of the code in the long run.

Android: RadioGroup - How to configure the event listener

I have a `OnItemSelectedListener` for my `Spinner`, but it is not called when the selected item is the same as the previous one. Apparently the `OnClickListener` is not an option for a `Spinner`.
I need to catch everytime a user click on an item. Any idea?

Maybe the fact that this `Spinner` is inside the `ActionBar` disturbs normal behavior?

Spinner : onItemSelected not called when selected item remains the same

In my project I have an `EditText`. I want to count the characters in the `EditText`, and show that number it in a `TextView`. I have written the following code and it works fine. However, my problem is when I click &lt;kbd&gt;Backspace&lt;/kbd&gt; it counts up, but I need to decrement the number. How can I consider &lt;kbd&gt;Backspace&lt;/kbd&gt;?

Counting Chars in EditText Changed Listener

I want to get `fling` gesture detection working in my Android application.

What I have is a `GridLayout` that contains 9 `ImageView`s. The source can be found here: [Romain Guys&#39;s Grid Layout][4].

That file I take is from Romain Guy&#39;s [Photostream application][5] and has only been slightly adapted.

For the simple click situation I need only set the `onClickListener` for each `ImageView` I add to be the main `activity` which implements `View.OnClickListener`. It seems infinitely more complicated to implement something that recognizes a `fling`. I presume this is because it may span `views`?

 - If my activity implements
   `OnGestureListener` I don&#39;t know how to
   set that as the gesture listener for
   the `Grid` or the `Image` views that I
   add.

 - If my activity implements
   `OnTouchListener` then I have no
   `onFling` method to `override` (it has

I really just need a concrete example of this working across views. What, when and how should I attach this `listener`? I need to be able to detect single clicks also.

Is it possible to lay a transparent view over the top of my screen to capture flings?

If I choose not to `inflate` my child image views from XML can I pass the `GestureDetector` as a constructor parameter to a new subclass of `ImageView` that I create?

Fling gesture detection on grid layout

I want the message box to appear immediately after the user changes the value in the textfield. Currently, I need to hit the enter key to get the message box to pop out. Is there anything wrong with my code?

Value Change Listener to JTextField

I have an object where the text cycles and displays status messages.  When the messages change, I want the click event of the object to change to take you to the activity that the message is relating to.

So, I have a `TextView mTitleView` and I&#39;m assigning the event like this.

        mTitleView.setOnClickListener(listener);
    }

How do I remove that click event?  There are some status messages that do not have an actionable area so I&#39;d like to turn off the click event.  I&#39;d also like to be able to cycle through these click events and dispose of them properly, but I&#39;m unsure of the best practice.

It seems to me that the Observer design pattern as described in GOF is really the same thing as Listeners found in various toolkits. Is there a difference between the concepts, or are Listeners and Observers really the same thing.

Here is a simplified version of something I&#39;m trying to run:

In android, most event listener methods return a boolean value. What is that true/false value mean ? what will it result in to the subsequence events ?

I&#39;m having some trouble choosing between PayPal&#39;s Instant Payment Notification (IPN) and Payment Data Transfer (PDT).

Basically, users buy a one-off product on my site, pay on PayPal, and return to my site. I understand how IPN works but I&#39;m now seeing that I might be able to trigger the various actions that take place after a successful purchase more easily with PDT, as the data gets returned there and then (as opposed to needing a separate listener).

However, PayPal&#39;s PDT documentation contains this cryptic line: &quot;PDT is not meant to be used with credit card or Express Checkout transactions.&quot;  ... but I can&#39;t find anything further whatsoever on the topic.

1. Are credit cards REALLY not meant to be used with PDT? I would like more than a sentence.

2. Does that mean that a user must have/create a PayPal account to pay?

3. Does it mean that if I want to allow users to pay with their PayPal accounts AND/OR with credit cards directly, I must implement IPN?

I am new on Oracle database, but I have one issue. 
On my Database server (server1) listener and database instance run correctly and I can use `sqlplus` to connect to this DB.
When I connect to database by using other server, I check the TNS configuration and it is correct but system says:

Now I would like to implement if/else statements but I&#39;m not sure that these can actually be implemented when using the listener pattern as ANTLR decides in which order to traverse the parse tree when using listeners and I imagine that the implementation of if/else statements will require jumping around the parse tree depending on which condition in the statement is satisfied.

Can anyone tell me if it will be possible to implement if/else statements using ANTLR or if I will have to implement the visitor pattern myself? Also, can anyone give an extremely simple example of the implementation the statements?

I&#39;m trying to connect to Oracle 10.2.0 from NetBeans, using the following connection string:

    jdbc:oracle:thin:@localhost:1521:XE

The weirdest part is that everything worked fine, until the one of the reboots. I started getting this TNS-12505 errors all the time; look at the final entries in my `listener.log`:
