What are differences between `Visibility.Collapsed` and `Visibility.Hidden` in WPF?

I have come across a problem with binding to a `PasswordBox`. It seems it&#39;s a security risk but I am using the MVVM pattern so I wish to bypass this. I found some interesting code here (has anyone used this or something similar?)

It technically looks great, but I am unsure of how to retrieve the password. 

I basically have properties in my `LoginViewModel` for `Username` and `Password`. `Username` is fine and is working as it&#39;s a `TextBox`.

I used the code above as stated and entered this

When I had the `PasswordBox` as a `TextBox` and `Binding Path=Password` then the property in my `LoginViewModel` was updated.

My code is very simple, basically I have a `Command` for my `Button`. When I press it `CanLogin` is called and if it returns true it calls `Login`.  
You can see I check my property for `Username` here which works great. 

In `Login` I send along to my service a `Username` and `Password`, `Username` contains data from my `View` but `Password` is `Null|Empty`

I have my `TextBox`, this is no problem, but in my `ViewModel` the `Password` is empty.

Am I doing something wrong or missing a step?

I put a breakpoint and sure enough the code enter the static helper class but it never updates my `Password` in my `ViewModel`.

How to bind to a PasswordBox in MVVM

Creating a relatively simple data entry form, and just want to separate certain sections with a horizontal line (not unlike an HR tag in HTML) that stretches the full length of the form.

I have tried this:

Because the parent control is not a fixed width, this line causes the window to stretch to the full width of the screen.

Is there an easy way to do this without fixing the width of my parent control/window?

I followed [this][1] small &quot;tutorial&quot; on how to add a scrollbar to an ItemsControl, and it works in Designer view, but not when I compile and execute the program (only the first few items show up, and no scrollbar to view more - even when VerticalScrollbarVisibility is set to &quot;Visible&quot; instead of &quot;Auto&quot;).

Any idea on how to solve this?

WPF: ItemsControl with scrollbar (ScrollViewer)

I am using DataGrids in XAML (not Silverlight) with resizable columns, the DataGrid will expand if the user resizes the screen.

Currently if the widths of all the DataGrid columns are less than the width of the DataGrid I get an extra &quot;column&quot; appearing which is unclickable and serves no purpose.

Does anyone know how to make one column always resize to fill all the remaining space?

I want to format my string binding as `Amount is X` where `X` is a property bound to a label.

I&#39;ve seen many examples but the following doesn&#39;t work:

I&#39;ve also tried these combinations:

I even tried changing the binding property&#39;s datatype to `int`, `string`and `double`. Nothing seems to work. This is a very common use case but doesn&#39;t seem to be supported.

&#39;Graying Out&#39; a WPF button image?

I&#39;m displaying a very big tree with a lot of items in it. Each of these items shows information to the user through its associated UserControl control, and this information has to be updated every 250 milliseconds, which can be a very expensive task since I&#39;m also using reflection to access to some of their values. My first approach was to use the IsVisible property, but it doesn&#39;t work as I expected.

Is there any way I could determine whether a control is &#39;visible&#39; to the user? 

Note: I&#39;m already using the IsExpanded property to skip updating collapsed nodes, but some nodes have 100+ elements and can&#39;t find a way to skip those which are outside the grid viewport.

I&#39;m trying to bind a large collection to a ComboBox and I faced performance problems when opening ComboBox&#39;s popup. I searched internet and found that using VirtualizingStackPanel as a items panel template might help, but it helped only partially. If I bind a large collection to a ComboBox, I could open popup very quickly, that&#39;s ok, but if after that I bind another collection to a ComboBox and try to open popup again, it becomes very slow. Same is happening if you open popup for an empty ComboBox, then bind large collection and try to open popup again - it takes some seconds before popup opens.

Here is the XAML:

I tried to make virtualizing stack panel to look like this:

but it doesn&#39;t help, seems VirtualizationMode is ignored so popup opens very fast only first time and then, each time after binding changes, it&#39;s very slow.

**UPDATE**: I thought about not binding new collection every time, but bind an ObservableCollection once and then just changing its content. Same thing, as soon as content of collection changes, opening a popup still takes several seconds :(
