I upgraded to Xcode 6 beta 4 and now my App continuously crashes with the message

&gt; Unknown class X in Interface Builder file.

It crashes because supposedly Xcode can&#39;t find my custom classes that I have linked in my Storyboard but it shows that they are linked correctly in the Xcode interface.

I&#39;m positive everything is linked correctly. My only other option may be to delete the entire storyboard file and start from scratch because it might be corrupted somehow.

Edit: I would also like to add that I tried cleaning, reseting simulator, messing with build phases etc. None of that works.

I&#39;m building an iOS app using a Storyboard. The root view controller is a Tab Bar Controller. I&#39;m creating the login/logout process, and it&#39;s mostly working fine, but I&#39;ve got a few issues. I need to know the BEST way to set all this up.

I want to accomplish the following:

 1. Show a login screen the first time the app is launched. When they login, go to the first tab of the Tab Bar Controller.
 2. Any time they launch the app after that, check if they are logged in, and skip straight to the first tab of the root Tab Bar Controller.
 3. When they manually click a logout button, show the login screen, and clear all the data from the view controllers.

What I&#39;ve done so far is set the root view controller to the Tab Bar Controller, and created a custom segue to my Login view controller. Inside my Tab Bar Controller class, I check whether they are logged in inside the `viewDidAppear` method, and a perform the segue: `[self performSegueWithIdentifier:@&quot;pushLogin&quot; sender:self];` 

I also setup a notification for when the logout action needs to be performed: `[[NSNotificationCenter defaultCenter] addObserver:self selector:@selector(logoutAccount) name:@&quot;logoutAccount&quot; object:nil];`

Upon logout, I clear the credentials from the Keychain, run `[self setSelectedIndex:0]` and perform the segue to show the login view controller again.

This all works fine, but I&#39;m wondering: **should this logic be in the AppDelegate?** I also have two issues:

- **The first time they launch the app**, the Tab Bar Controller shows briefly before the segue is performed. I&#39;ve tried moving the code to `viewWillAppear` but the segue will not work that early.
- When they logout, all the data is still inside all the view controllers. If they login to a new account, the old account data is still displayed until they refresh. **I need a way to clear this easily on logout.**

I&#39;m open to reworking this. I&#39;ve considered making the login screen the root view controller, or creating a navigation controller in the AppDelegate to handle everything... I&#39;m just not sure what the best method is at this point.

Are there any guidelines on when to use storyboards in an iOS project and when to use XIBs? what are the pros and cons of each and what situations do they each suit?

Near as I can tell it&#39;s not that clean to use storyboard segues when you have view controllers being pushed by dynamic UI elements (Like map pins).

Without using a storyboard we could simply drag a `UIView` onto the canvas, lay it out and then set it in the `tableView:viewForHeaderInSection` or `tableView:viewForFooterInSection` delegate methods.

I have a scroll view with content that is 1000px tall and would like to be able to lay it out for easy design on the storyboard.

I&#39;ve created a `UITableView` in Interface Builder using `storyboards`. The `UITableView` is setup with `static cells` and a number of different sections.

The issue I&#39;m having is that I&#39;m trying to setup my app in several different languages. To do this I need to be able to change the `UITableView` section titles somehow.

Please can someone help me out? Ideally I&#39;d like to approach the issue using `IBOutlets` however I suspect this isn&#39;t even possible in this case. Any advice and suggestions would be really appreciated.

How to set the UITableView Section title programmatically (iPhone/iPad)?

Using Swift 1.1 and Xcode 6.2.

I have a UIStoryboard containing a singular, custom `UIViewController` subclass. On it, I have an `@IBOutlet` connection of type `UIView` from that controller to a `UIView` *subclass* on the storyboard. I also have similar outlets for subviews of that view. See figure A.

But at run time, these properties are nil (Figure B). Even though I have assured I&#39;ve connected the outlets in Interface Builder.

**Thoughts**:

- Is it possible that because I am using a subclass of a subclass something messes up with the initialization? I am not overriding any initializers
- `awakeFromNib:` is not getting called for some reason
- Maybe it doesn&#39;t connecting to subviews on subviews

**Things I have tried:**

- Matching `@IBOutlet` and storyboard item types exactly (instead of `UIView`)
- Deleting property and outlet and re-added them

IBOutlet is nil, but it is connected in storyboard, Swift

Right-clicking the Exit icon yields an empty window. Can&#39;t Ctrl-drag a connection to any IB elements or corresponding source files. Docs give no love. Doesn&#39;t appear in nib files, only storyboards. My assumption is that it&#39;s a corollary to segues, but I don&#39;t see any new methods to back it up. Anyone?

Does anyone know what the new Exit icon is used for when editing storyboards using Xcode 4.5?

I&#39;ve updated to Xcode 6 beta 3 and see that the **[+ = -] buttons** in the storyboard corner are gone. Is there a way for me to zoom in and out on view controllers within a storyboard in Xcode 6?

Pre-conditions to reproduce the problem:

1. Xcode 11 beta + iOS 13 (latest version until Jun. 12 2019)
2. The navigation bar is in Large text mode
3. Specify the colour of navigation bar.

The status bar will remain in white in a real device, above the green navigation bar. 

Solutions I tried:

1. Revert it back to iOS12 will solve it, but we will encounter iOS13 eventually...
2. disabling the large text mode will solve it...
3. hide the status bar will fix it, but it will cause status text overlapping with navigation bar item.

Any ideas? appreciate any help.

I typically like to create and design my uiviews in interface builder. Sometimes I need to create a single view in a xib that can be reused in multiple view controllers in a storyboard.

My objective is to create a tabbed application, then the view for each of the tabs are constructed in separate storyboards.

My mainstoryboard is a tab view.

Then I create a secondary storyboard (storyboard#2) with 2 View Controllers. The first view controller (also ticked as initial) have a button, and segue (modal) to 2nd view. ![First view controller][2]

I managed to load the view by subclassing and overriding loadView from storyboard#2.

When click on the &quot;click me&quot; button, I get a `EXC_BAD_ACCESS`. The segue does not work, seems like the second storyboard is not being loaded completely.

Using Multiple Storyboards in iOS

I&#39;m manually invoking a segue (set as modal) in order to display a login form in Xcode 4.2 using Storyboards with the following line of code:

    [self performSegueWithIdentifier:@&quot;LoginSegue&quot; sender:nil];

I&#39;m probably missing something really simple, however I can&#39;t find a way to programmatically close the login view and return to the previous view.

The view is part of a navigation view controller, so setting the segue type to &quot;push&quot; allows me to use the back button to send me back to my previous screen, but in &quot;modal&quot; mode, I&#39;m not entirely sure how to achieve this (after button press, for example)

Any help would be much appreciated.

Closing a view displayed via a modal segue

I am defining a color in code as

    [UIColor colorWithHue:32.0/360.0 saturation:0.88 brightness:0.97 alpha:1]

If I try to set the same color in storyboard, when running the App it is a slightly different colour to the one defined in code. If I drag the color to the palate then select a different color and select the palate one again, the HSB values are slightly different. It seems it is snapping to a different (RGB?) color in interface builder.

I&#39;ve created a popover from a `UIBarButtonItem` using Xcode Storyboards (so there&#39;s no code) like this:

Presenting the popover works just fine. However, I can&#39;t get the popover to *disappear* when I tap the `UIBarButtonItem` that made it appear. 

When the button is pressed (first time) the popover appears. When the button is pressed again (second time) the same popover appears on top of it, so now I have two popovers (or more if I continuer pressing the button). According to the [iOS Human Interface Guidelines][2] I need to make the popover appear on the first tap and disappear on the second:

 &gt; Ensure that only one popover is visible onscreen at a time. You should not display more than one popover (or custom view designed to look and behave like a popover) at the same time. In particular, you should avoid displaying a cascade or hierarchy of popovers simultaneously, in which one popover emerges from another.

How can I dismiss the popover when the user taps the `UIBarButtonItem` for a second time?

How to Dismiss a Storyboard Popover

While editing in the storyboard, specifically assigning a view controller to a specific class, I suddenly encountered this error when I wanted to run the project.

Main.storyboard: Internal error. Please file a bug at bugreport.apple.com and attach &quot;/var/folders/79/_jh611t15qsfcx165_jv_20h0000gn/T/IB-agent-diagnostics_2015-10-28_00-33-12_730000&quot;.

And now I can&#39;t run my project anymore. I couldn&#39;t find any information regarding to this anywhere else. Did anyone encounter this before?

Xcode storyboard: Internal error. Please file a bug

I have looked at all the tutorials I can find on this one, and I still don&#39;t have the answer.  I need to call another view from the code.  I am using `UIStoryboards`.  I have changed the view many times by control-dragging from `UIButtons`, but now it must be from the code.  I am trying to call the info page from the main menu if it is the first time the user has opened the app.  I cannot seem to find a way to change the views from the code, however.  All my views are controlled by the same files (**ViewController2**).  The `identifier` of my main menu is **ViewControllerMain**, and the `identifier` of the info page is **ViewControllerInfo**.  First I tried this:

    [ViewControllerMain presentViewController: ViewControllerInfo 
                                     animated:YES 
                                   completion: NULL];

Then I tried making different `UIViewControllers` for each and saying:

    [ViewController2 presentViewController: ViewController 
                                  animated:YES 
                                completion: NULL];

Neither worked.  For the first one, it says:

&gt; Use of undeclared identifier ViewControllerMain.

In the second one, it says:

&gt; unexpected interface name &#39;ViewController&#39;: expected identifier.

I just finished an app on iOS 6 and bought a developer account a week ago so haven&#39;t had much time playing with the iOS 7 SDK. Just downloaded the Golden Master version and trying to upgrade my app to be compatible with iOS 7. 

I received a lot of warnings saying

and I am unable to run the program. The project contains tableview and its is parsing and displaying XML feed from an RSS. 

How to fix this issue?

I&#39;m using storyboards for my UI. I was previously using XCode 4.6 and released on iOS 6. I have since updated to iOS 7 using XCode 5 and updated the Storyboard to work nicely with XCode 5. I have one issue though:

`UITextView` doesn&#39;t want to display font changes within code. Text colour changes work fine. Any other property changes are fine. Font, not at all. I was using a custom font, so I checked different fonts with different sizes (i.e. `systemFontOfSize:`) but that didn&#39;t work. The text view *only* shows the font that&#39;s set in the Storyboard. What could I be missing here? Are there any auto-layout constraints that mess with this sort of thing? I had a few issues with constraints during the migration, but as I said, the fonts work fine in iOS 7.

I guess it&#39;s something in the Storyboard that I&#39;m missing, as if I create a `UIViewController` and add a text view in code, it works fine.

I&#39;d put up some code, but I&#39;m not sure it&#39;d help at all in this case.

UITextView - setting font not working with iOS 6 on XCode 5

I have a question about `iOS UIKeyboard`.

I have a `UITextField` and I would to have the `keyboard` with only uppercase characters.

I use a `storyboard` and I tried to set the `Cpitalization` as &quot;`All characters`&quot; to `UITextField properties`.

But this not solve my problem...any suggestion?

I am unable to change the text colour in the status bar in iOS 7 SDK. Currently its black and i want it to be white for all my view controllers in a storyboard. 

I have seen few questions on StackOverflow like [THIS][1], [THIS][2] and [THIS][3] but they didn&#39;t of much help. Also may be due to the fact that i am unable to find UIViewControllerBasedStatusBarAppearance to YES in my plist file.

Can any one tell me the right way to set the status bar text colour to white for all view controllers in the storyboard? Thanks in advance!

Status Bar Text Color iOS 7

In iOS 5 I have a Storyboard with a modal view controller, that I would like to display if its the user&#39;s first time in the app, after that I would like to skip this view controller.

I set an NSDefault key to handle this but when I check to see if this is set and then use performSegueWithIdentifier to initiate the segue, nothing happens.  If i put this segue behind a button it works fine...

For better re-usability I want to create a table view outside of my Storyboard.

Now when I create a `UITableView` based ViewController with Nib in Xcode I get the default TableView in the nib file. However, I am not able in Interface Builder to add prototype cells like I am in my Storyboard.

Is it currently not possible to add prototype cells in a nib or am I missing something.

I&#39;ve an iPhone storyboard with some views. For instance, a navigation item title is named `News`, which should be translated for other languages.

When I add a new localization to my storyboard, it created a duplicate of my current storyboard for the new language. Here I can change the title for the navigation item, but for me it does not seem very useful. What if my storyboard contains 100 views and I need to support 10 languages? If I need to change something in my original storyboard, I have to make the same changes for all languages. That seems very odd. In which situations can this be useful?

What can I do instead? Should I have only the english storyboard and manually translate each element in the ViewController using `NSLocalizedString`?

I&#39;m currently trying to edit a storyboard file, in Xcode 6 (not sure if this is an Xcode bug, or if i&#39;ve just done something), and when I go to the view i want to edit this is what the scene shows me :

I am using Storyboard and Xcode 6. I have next controllers and scenes in my Storyboard:

`UINavigationController` that has `HomeViewController` as a root. `HomeViewController` has a button that `Show (e.g. Push)` `UITabBarController`. `UITabBarController` has 4 `UIViewControllers`.

But my problem that after I Show `UITabBarController` there are no Navigation Bars in 4 `UIViewControllers`. But I supposed that if I `Show (e.g. Push)` `UITabBarController` then it should has embedded navigation controller that is initial controller in storyboard. Am I right? And if so how can I setup then navigation bar in Storyboard, because there are now default bar event in pushed tab bar that I see on storyboard. I have selected UIViewController and set simulated metrics in identity inspector to Translucent Navigation bar for the Top property, but I supposed it should be automatically added to this controller and to the tab bar without additional steps.

Or should I add new navigation controller for each tab bar items that will have their root view controllers?

The main question why I don&#39;t see navigation bar in storyboard using show (e.g. Push). For example if I add navigation controller and then set as root - tab bar controller then Xcode automatically add top navigation bar, but if the queue has an extra step like in my case HomeViewController the top navigation bar never appear automatically.

UIPageViewController and storyboard

im having trouble overriding the initialization method for my CustomViewController thats designed in my Storyboard.

now im doing (in my mainViewController):

    self.customViewController = [[UIStoryboard storyboardWithName:@&quot;MainStoryboard_iPhone&quot; bundle:nil] instantiateViewControllerWithIdentifier:@&quot;CustomVC&quot;];
    self.customViewController.myObject = someObject;

and i have in viewDidLoad (CustomViewController)

        [self.label setText:self.myObject.someString];

This works ok.

But, is it the correct way? Should i add a custom init method (or override) to my CustomViewController ? Like initWithObject: ? I dont know how to call my custom init method instead of `UIStoryboard instantiateViewControllerWithIdentifier:`, and im not getting calls to `init` nor `initWithNibName`.

Maybe i should use: `- (id)initWithCoder:(NSCoder *)decoder`. 

Please give me some advice!
