I suppose I could compare the number of files in the source directory to the number of files in the target directory as cp progresses, or perhaps do it with folder size instead? I tried to find examples, but all bash progress bars seem to be written for copying single files. I want to copy a bunch of files (or a directory, if the former is not possible).



How can I make a progress bar while copying a directory with cp?

I would like to display a loading bar before the entire page is loaded. For now, I&#39;m just using a small delay:

I have some ajax calls on the document of a site that display or hide a progress bar depending on the ajax status

Now, the first grey ring is generated fine. The blue ring however starts from the left of the drawable and goes to the right just like how a linear progressbar works. This is how it shows at 50% progress with the red color arrow showing direction.

The implanted solution (i.e., call tqdm directly on the range tqdm.tqdm(range(0, 30)) does not work with multiprocessing (as formulated in the code below). 

The progress bar is displayed from 0 to 100% (when python reads the code?) but it does not indicate the actual progress of the map function.

I have a Java program running in command line mode.
I would like to display a progress bar, showing the percentage of job done.
The same kind of progress bar you would see using wget under unix.
Is this possible?

Is it possible to get the progress of an XMLHttpRequest (bytes uploaded, bytes downloaded)? 

This would be useful to show a progress bar when the user is uploading a large file. The standard API doesn&#39;t seem to support it, but maybe there&#39;s some non-standard extension in any of the browsers out there? It seems like a pretty obvious feature to have after all, since the client knows how many bytes were uploaded/downloaded.

note: I&#39;m aware of the &quot;poll the server for progress&quot; alternative (it&#39;s what I&#39;m doing right now). the main problem with this (other than the complicated server-side code) is that typically, while uploading a big file, the user&#39;s connection is completely hosed, because most ISPs offer poor upstream. So making extra requests is not as responsive as I&#39;d hoped. I was hoping there&#39;d be a way (maybe non-standard) to get this information, which the browser has at all times.

I am writing an FTP downloader. Part of to the code is something like this:

I am calling function process to handle the callback:

and output is something like this:

but I want it to print this line and next time reprint/refresh it so it will only show it once and I will see progress of that download.

How can it be done?

I&#39;m working on a small command-line game in python where I am showing a progress bar using the tqdm module. I listen for user input using the msvcrt module to interrupt the progress. Once interrupted, the user can restart by entering &#39;restart&#39; into the command line prompt. The second time the progress bar is shown, instead of updating the same line with the progress, it creates a new line each time. 

How would I get it to show the progress on the same line?

For example if I have some calculate method, and I want to use it for 100000 values in my Form class I can write:

How do I use a progress bar when my script is doing some task that is likely to take time?

For example, a function which takes some time to complete and returns `True` when done. How can I display a progress bar during the time the function is being executed?

Note that I need this to be in real time, so I can&#39;t figure out what to do about it. Do I need a `thread` for this? I have no idea.

I am using a custom ProgressBar. Now while a task is going on, I am showing the progress bar, but user can still interact with the views and controls. 
How do I disable the user interaction on whole view just like a ProgressDialog does , when it is visible.

Do I need to use a transparent view on top of main view and show the progress bar on that view and hide that view once a task is completed. 

Or just get the id of my parentView and set it disabled ? But then I won&#39;t be able to dim the background, just like what happens when a dialog appears on the view/Activity/Fragment. Right? 

I just want to know the way to disallow the user from any interaction while the progressbar is visible.

I am using C# and Windows Forms. I have a normal progress bar working fine in the program, but now I have another operation where the duration cannot be easily calculated. I would like to display a progress bar but don&#39;t know the best way to start/stop the scrolling marquee. I was hoping for something as simple as setting the marquee speed and then having a start() and stop() but it doesn&#39;t appear to be that simple. Do I have to run an empty loop in the background? How do I best do this? Thanks

So my question is why the real height of the progressbar is not the one I set? How to increase the height of the progressbar?

Just doing this:

I need to change the color of that one, using input value like so:

I am using a ProgressBar in my application which I update in onProgressUpdate of an `AsyncTask`. So far so good. 

What I want to do is to animate the progress update, so that it does not just &quot;jump&quot; to the value but smoothly moves to it.

I tried doing so running the following code:

The problem is that the progress bar does not update its state until it finished its final value (progress variable). All states in between are not displayed on the screen. **Calling progressBar.invalidate() didn&#39;t help either.**

Animate ProgressBar update in Android

I&#39;ve been using Twitter&#39;s bootstrap and I would like the text on the progress bar to be centered on the on bar regardless of value.

The below link is what I have now.  I would like all text to be aligned with the bottom most bar.

I am converting a .avi file to .flv file using ffmpeg. As it takes a long time to convert a file I would like to display a progress bar. Can someone please guide me on how to go about the same.

I know that ffmpeg somehow has to output the progress in a text file and I have to read it using ajax calls. But how do I get ffmpeg to output the progress to the text file?

Android WebView progress bar

I have a small GUI test with a &quot;Start&quot; button and a Progress bar. The desired behavior is:

- Click Start
- Progressbar oscillates for 5 seconds
- Progressbar stops

The observed behavior is the &quot;Start&quot; button freezes for 5 seconds, then a Progressbar is displayed (no oscillation).

Based on the information from Bryan Oakley [here](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/10847626/tkinter-program-freezing-durint-the-execution-of-a-function), I understand that I need to use threads. I tried creating a thread, but I&#39;m guessing that since the thread is started from within the main thread, it doesn&#39;t help.

I had the idea to place the logic portion in a different class, and instantiate the GUI from within that class, similar to the example code by A. Rodas [here](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/15323574/how-to-connect-a-progress-bar-to-a-function/15323917#15323917).

My question:

I can&#39;t figure out how to code it so that this command:

    self.test_button = Button(self.master, command=self.tb_click)

calls a function that is located in the other class. Is this a Bad Thing to do or is it even possible? How would I create a 2nd class that can handle the self.tb_click? I tried following along to A. Rodas&#39; example code which works beautifully. But I cannot figure out how to implement his solution in the case of a Button widget that triggers an action.

If I should instead handle the thread from within the single GUI class, how would one create a thread that doesn&#39;t interfere with the main thread?

Is there a way to create a double progress bar in Python?
I want to run two loops inside each other. For each loop I want to have a progress bar. My program looks like:

    import time
    for i1 in range(5):
        for i2 in range(300):
            # do something, e.g. sleep
            time.sleep(0.01)
            # update upper progress bar
        # update lower progress bar

The output somewhere in the middle should look something like

You&#39;ve seen iterations of this type of progress bar on sites like paypal.  How does one go about setting this up using `CSS` and `jquery`? I have 4 pages and each page is a step... so 4 steps.

This may be a no-brainer for the WPF cognoscenti, but I&#39;d like to know if there&#39;s a simple way to put text on the WPF ProgressBar. To me, an empty progress bar looks naked. That&#39;s screen real estate that could carry a message about **what** is in progress, or even just add numbers to the representation. Now, WPF is all about containers and extensions and I&#39;m slowly wrapping my mind around that, but since I don&#39;t see a &quot;Text&quot; or &quot;Content&quot; property, I&#39;m thinking I&#39;m going to have to add something to the container that is my progress bar.
