I&#39;m having a serious problem that I just can&#39;t seem to fix and it&#39;s driving me insane for the last two days.  I have searched far and wide and I can&#39;t find a solution, even though I have tried many.

I have a `UITextView` inside a `UIScrollView`. I am able to dynamically resize the `UITextView` inside the scrollview to display the text.  But when the `UITextView` contains very large text it gets cut off when I scroll almost to the end.  However, the `UIScrollView`&#39;s frame is still being sized correctly.

I read these posts: [this][1] [this][2] and many similar ones.


The `UIScrollview` and `UITextview` are both created in the xib using AutoLayout.

Here is my current code and a screenshot as you can see the blank spot in the screenshot should be filled with text.  please help.

Large Text Being Cut Off in UITextView That is Inside UIScrollView

I have a UITextView for text editing.  By default, it has a small margin around the text.  I want to increase that margin by a few pixels.

The contentInset property gives me margins, but it does not change the text &quot;wrap width&quot;.  The text is wrapped at the same width, and the extra &quot;margin&quot; just causes the view to scroll horizontally.

Is there a way to make a UITextView of a certain width display the text with a narrower &quot;wrap width&quot;?

Firstly, I&#39;m not sure for this either I should use `UILabel` (Logically is the best choice for displaying static text, which is in my case) or `UITextView`.

I want to simply init my Label or text view for that matter with Text.
Instead I define the frame first and then restrict my text in that area.

If you can suggest the right solution, that will be a great help.

UILabel auto resize on basis of text to be shown

I need to find the pixel-frame for different ranges in a textview. I&#39;m using the `- (CGRect)firstRectForRange:(UITextRange *)range;` to do it. However I can&#39;t find out how to actually create a `UITextRange`.

Basically this is what I&#39;m looking for:

    - (CGRect)frameOfTextRange:(NSRange)range inTextView:(UITextView *)textView {
    
        UITextRange*range2 = [UITextRange rangeWithNSRange:range]; //DOES NOT EXIST

Apple says one has to subclass `UITextRange` and `UITextPosition` in order to adopt the `UITextInput` protocol. I don&#39;t do that, but I tried anyway, following the doc&#39;s example code and passing the subclass to `firstRectForRange` which resulted in crashing.

If there is a easier way of adding different colored `UILables` to a textview, please tell me. I have tried using UIWebView with `content editable` set to TRUE, but I&#39;m not fond of communicating with JS, and coloring is the only thing I need.

Create UITextRange from NSRange

UITextView in iOS7 has been really weird. As you type and are entering the last line of your UITextView, the scroll view doesn&#39;t scroll to the bottom like it should and it causes the text to be &quot;clipped&quot;. I&#39;ve tried setting it&#39;s clipsToBound property to NO but it still clips the text. 

I don&#39;t want to call on &quot;setContentOffset:animated&quot; because for one: that&#39;s very hacky solution.. secondly: if the cursor was in the middle (vertically) of our textview, it&#39;ll cause unwanted scrolling.

UITextView in iOS7 clips the last line of text string

By default `UITextField` has a light gray color as its border color.
I want to set my `UITextView` to have the same border color as the `UITextField`.

I tried:

    myTextView.layer.borderColor = UIColor.lightGrayColor().CGColor
    // or
    myTextView.layer.borderColor = UIColor.lightTextColor().CGColor
    // or 
    myTextView.layer.borderColor = myTextField.layer.borderColor

They still have up to have different color.

When I have text that does not fill the UITextView, it is scrolled to the top working as intended. When there is more text than will fit on screen, the UITextView is scrolled to the middle of the text, rather than the top.

Here are some potentially relevant details:

In viewDidLoad to give some padding on top and bottom of UITextView:

    self.mainTextView.textContainerInset = UIEdgeInsetsMake(90, 0, 70, 0);

The UITextView uses auto layout to anchor it 20px from top, bottom and each side of the screen (done in IB) to allow for different screen sizes and orientations.

I can still scroll it with my finger once its loaded.

EDIT
I found that removing the auto layout constraints and then fixing the width only seems to fix the issue, but only for that screen width.

How can I make a clickable link in an NSAttributedString?

I have a view that is laid out completely using auto layout programmatically. I have a UITextView in the middle of the view with items above and below it. Everything works fine, but I want to be able to expand UITextView as text is added. This should push everything below it down as it expands.

I know how to do this the &quot;springs and struts&quot; way, but is there an auto layout way of doing this? The only way I can think of is by removing and re-adding the constraint every time it needs to grow.

How can I change the color of a part of a TextView?

I have a `UITextView` which displays an `NSAttributedString`. This string contains words that I&#39;d like to make tappable, such that when they are tapped I get called back so that I can perform an action. I realise that `UITextView` can detect taps on a URL and call back my delegate, but these aren&#39;t URLs.

It seems to me that with iOS 7 and the power of TextKit this should now be possible, however I can&#39;t find any examples and I&#39;m not sure where to start. 

I understand that it&#39;s now possible to create custom attributes in the string (although I haven&#39;t done this yet), and perhaps these will be useful to detecting if one of the magic words has been tapped? In any case, I still don&#39;t know how to intercept that tap and detect on which word the tap occurred.

Note that iOS 6 compatibility is *not* required.

How to intercept click on link in UITextView?

OK, I&#39;m having some problem with the `UITextView`. Here&#39;s the issue:

I add some text to a `UITextView`. The user then double clicks to select something.
I then change the text in the `UITextView` (programatically as above) and the `UITextView`  scrolls to the bottom of the page where there is a cursor. 

However, that is NOT where the user clicked. It ALWAYS scrolls to the bottom of the `UITextView` regardless of where the user clicked. 

So here&#39;s my question: How do I force the `UITextView` to scroll to the top every time I change the text? I&#39;ve tried `contentOffset` and `scrollRangeToVisible`. Neither work.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I am applying the following method to restrict the number of characters to 140 in length.

The code is working nicely except the first condition that backspace is not working.
 suppose that  I have reached the limit of 140 characters so that the method will give me false and the user can not insert more characters but after that when I try to delete some characters the text view behave as it is disabled .

IOS - remove ALL padding from UITextView

I was wondering how to limit the amount of LINES (not characters as asked in other questions) a user can enter when editing a UITextField.

Ideally, I would like to limit the input to max. 10 lines.

Where would I need to start? Do I do this with a method? In

I can add a button and use `[txtView resignFirstResponder]` to hide the keyboard.

It&#39;s not a question about centering the text (a property that can be found in IB) but about putting the text *vertically* right in the middle of `UITextView` *if* the text is short, so there are no blank areas in the `UITextView`.

Can anyone think of a reason that the blinking cursor would not show up in a `UITextView`? I have a custom control that is just a subclass of `UIView` and it has a `UITextView` in it, but the cursor doesn&#39;t appear when it gets focus. The keyboard appears, and the text appears as you type, but there is no cursor, and I can&#39;t figure out why.

I have a `UITextView` that takes an `NSString` with formatting `stringWithUTF8String`. It is getting its values from a database and I want the text in the database to be rendered with breaks within the text. I tried using `\n` to do this but it gets rendered as text. Doing this in my information page of the app as straight text worked but I think the reason its not working when taking it from the database is because of the formatting. 

Any suggestions?

dismiss keyboard with a uiTextView

I have a UITextView object. The text in UIView has a phone number, mail link, a website link. I want to show them as links with following functionality.

When someone taps on URL - Safari should open the the website.
When someone taps on email link - Mail should open up with my address in to field
When someone taps on phone number - Phone application should call the number

Has anyone done this before or knows how to handle it?

as the title says i am trying to add padding-like behavior to a UITextView. The textview is generated when the view is pushed inside my navigation controller and the following code occurs:

so, it all works and it&#39;s ok, but i want to add some padding on all 4 sides of the UITextView and i&#39;ve been unable to do this with 3 hours of googling for something that seems rather easy. Any suggestions?

I have a &lt;code&gt;UITextView&lt;/code&gt; which is managed via Interface Builder. As data detection I have &quot;Links&quot; checked. In iOS 6 everything is working fine and links are highlighted and are clickable. In iOS 7 though, all links remain just plain text. The editable and selectable checkboxes are unchecked.

What may be of concern is that the &lt;code&gt;UITextView&lt;/code&gt; is a subview of a container view which is again inside a &lt;code&gt;UIScrollView&lt;/code&gt;.

The attributedString contains a URL and I&#39;d like to allow tapping the URL to open a browser. But interaction with the URL is only possible if the ``selectable`` attribute is set to  ``true``.

**How can I allow user interaction only for tapping links, but not for selecting text?**

I have the classical grouped UITableView with editable UITextViews inside every cell. This text views can be single or multi-lined, and I want the cell to increase its height as the user writes and the text starts a new line.

My question is: **do I need to reload the whole table just to increase the height of a cell? Isn&#39;t there any other method?**

I&#39;ve been searching a lot, and previous answers and tutorials just talk about how to calculate text height, how to implement heightForRowAtIndexPath... things that I already know. My concern is that, to achieve what I want, I will have to calculate height and reload the table every time the user enters a new character, which I don&#39;t find very clean or efficient.
