I have just installed Android Studio in my Window 7 64bit.  
When I launch the application the background of the screen where we write the code is white.  
I would prefer black or any other color.  
I am not sure whether we can change the color/theme OR add more themes.

How to change or add theme to Android Studio?

Is there any way to completely turn Eclipse to a dark IDE?

As Konstantin Komissarchik said, I had to modify my OS colors. This is possible by adding a custom Visual Style to the Windows. With the aid of a [Custom Theme](http://www.eclipsecolorthemes.org/) and a [Custom Visual Style for Windows 7](http://jaycee13.deviantart.com/art/Mango-XB-K-Visual-Style-7-244943275) (Which I have changed a little bit), my Eclipse looks like the picture below:

## Update 2019:

The latest versions of Eclipse now come with a dark theme. Just go to `Window -&gt; Preferences -&gt; General -&gt; Appearance -&gt; Theme` and select &quot;Dark&quot; or another appropriate version based on your operating system.

Of course you can still enable dark visual styles to your Windows or change your theme on other operating systems but the default dark theme is good enough for the most part.

Eclipse IDE for Java - Full Dark Theme

I like dark themes. However, the default theme of Jupyter notebooks is light, and I can&#39;t find the option to change the theme/background-color. How is this done?

The Visual Studio 2012 offers two themes, Light and Dark. I want to switch the theme to Dark, but I&#39;m not able to find any menus or options to do that.

I found out a way importing settings from:

    Microsoft Visual Studio 11.0\Common7\IDE\ FontsAndColorsThemes\1ded0138-47ce-435e-84ef-9ec1f439b749.vssettings

And the code editor is now in Dark theme, but other windows are still in Light theme, such as the Solution Explorer, Toolbox, and Toolbars.

I keep coming across &quot;Generic.xaml&quot;, but if I look on MSDN for Generic.xaml or just do a Google search, I only seem to get blog posts and forum questions that happen to mention it--I can&#39;t seem to hit upon anything really authoritative and clear.

What is the difference between Generic.xaml and MyRandomlyNamedResourceDictionary.xaml? It seems like either way, I have to reference ResourceDictionaries stored in libraries with the Source attribute. E.g.,:

I&#39;ve created a PreferenceActivity that allows the user to choose the theme he wants to apply to the entire application.

When the user selects a theme, this code is executed:

How to change current Theme at runtime in Android

I know there is the option in Eclipse to &#39;restore defaults&#39;. 

The problem is I had imported a .epf to change my editors font/colors.

I&#39;m not a big fan of the changes and would like to go back. I&#39;ve tried deleting the eclipse folder and downloading a fresh copy, but the styles persist. 

I assume there is a config file somewhere that I could possibly delete.

Anyway, if you could help me out here I would appreciate it. I&#39;ve looked for solutions but they all seem to point to the same answer that doesn&#39;t work for me.

Revert to Eclipse default settings

I&#39;m using the new v7 Toolbar and for the life of me can&#39;t figure out how to change the color of the title.  I&#39;ve set the @style of the Toolbar to a style declared in styles.xml and applied a titleTextStyle with a textColor.  Am I missing something?  I&#39;m coding for Lollipop but testing currently on a Kitkat device.

I generally only use dark themes for coding, so it&#39;s really annoying that Sublime Text 3&#39;s sidebar stays light themed whatever theme you apply.

A background color of eclipse is white, the same white of windows&#39; active window background color. If I change the color on the theme, eclipse changes to the color.

Eclipse&#39;s Package explorer background color follows windows theme. I want to change the color without changing windows&#39; theme. Possible?

I&#39;m trying to change the editor color schemes in IntelliJ Idea 13.1.3 community edition to a darker theme. I downloaded a theme from a website [Editor&#39;s note: the website has since been replaced with spam, and has been edited out] and imported settings through `File-&gt;Import Settings...`. The jar imported successfully and I restarted the IDE, but after restart there is no change in appearance. I have checked in appearance settings and everything is the same as before(no new theme). I&#39;m new to IntelliJ Idea, so I may have missed a step or something. Any ideas?

I want to change the size of a PrimeFaces component. For example, a [`&lt;p:orderList&gt;`][1]. It has a class called `ui-orderlist-list` which is defined in `primefaces.css` with a fixed 200x200 dimension. No matter what I do in my `theme.css`, it is overwritten by this attribute and there is no way I can make the content part of a `&lt;p:orderList&gt;` wider.

For other components I might want to override just one instance of a component, not all. 

Can anyone please tell me how can I do all this?

How do I override default PrimeFaces CSS with custom styles?

I would like to be able to use the same drawable to represent both:

as the same drawable, and re-color the drawable based on some programmatic values, so that the end user could re-theme the interface. 


What is the best way to do this? I have tried (and reused the icons from) [this previous S.O. question][3] but I can&#39;t represent the change as a simple change of hue, since it also varies in saturation and value..


Is it best to store the icon as all white in the area I want changed? or transparent? or some other solid color?

Modifying the color of an android drawable

I am trying to set the default Style for every window in my WPF Windows application in my app.xaml. So far i have this in app.xaml:

 1. Have all windows automatically use the style (so i don&#39;t have to specify it on every window)?
 2. Have VS designer show the style?

I am using LayoutInflater to instantiate TextView. The problem is that styles are not applied to TextView when inflater created using ApplicationContext - the color is not red. All works fine when LayoutInflater created using activity.

Theme/Style is not applied when inflater used with ApplicationContext

I am finding it really hard to code using the **black theme** given in the `visual studio 2012` IDE. Is there anyway i could get back the older grey theme or is there anyway i could make it look a bit more whiter ?

i know there is a way to change the app default theme on button click. Blackmart developers have done it. I’ve already searched Google like 1000 pages but i found just this (not working)

    getApplication().setTheme(Theme.Holo)

As i already created a new style in res/values/styles.xml is there any other way to dynamically change it? Even rebooting the application?

I created a new application in Eclipse, targeted to Jelly Bean. This is all automatically created code. The manifest sets the application theme to AppName:

Why is the ic_dialog_icon so light? It is barely visible. I am using all defaults, I did not modify the theme or any colors, Shouldn&#39;t the system pick an icon wiht more contrast to its background? How can I fix it?

Following Tomik info I read the documentation for **android.R.attr.alertDialogIcon** and made this fix ( replaced **setIcon()** with **setIconAttribute()** )

			new AlertDialog.Builder(this)
			.setIconAttribute(android.R.attr.alertDialogIcon)
			.setTitle(R.string.confirm_title)
			.setMessage(R.string.confirm_text)
			.setPositiveButton(R.string.ok, new DialogInterface.OnClickListener() {

Now the dialog looks like this:
