I&#39;m working on a web application, and I&#39;m getting a lot of criticism on the UI design saying it does not conform with Android design standards. Obviously, my application is going to look different since it is using CSS and HTML instead of the Android Holo theme, but I would still like to make it conform as much as possible. However CSS does not allow density independent measurements.

When I test my application on different resolutions and pixel densities, it does not look good, and sometimes, it is way out of proportion so it&#39;s not even functional. CSS doesn&#39;t have dp units like Android native development does, but I was wondering what some alternatives are.

Can I somehow get the pixel density using Javascript and manually scale everything appropriately? What is the best way for making a web app that looks and works nicely on all resolutions/densities?

As we know Android coming with various device which having different

This leads to different combinations of *screen sizes, resolutions, and DPIs* and creates quite a challenge when designing and developing for Android devices. While some other Manufacturer (non Android) have different resolutions and DPI, they share the same screen size and the resolutions follow the same aspect ratio. Therefore, an image can be created to fit the non Android devices.

Problem: I can successfully sign in to the app, but if I tap back button after I sign in, it goes back to the sign in screen (while I expect it to exit from the app).

I&#39;m developing an application for my final thesis on computer science, and I need to collect and log accelerometer data. I need to acquire it for a whole day long, so there are serious battery constraints (for instance, I cannot leave the screen on). Also, this isn&#39;t a market targeted application, so it is pretty acceptable to do some serious hacking, even low level C/C++ coding, if required.

It is well known that on many devices the listeners for accelerometer events stop generating events when screen goes off (some links regarding this problem: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=3708 , https://stackoverflow.com/questions/2143102/accelerometer-stops-delivering-samples-when-the-screen-is-off-on-droid-nexus-one). I have thoroughly searched for some alternatives, some of them include workarounds that do not work for my device (LG P990, stock ROM).

So what happens is this: 
When you register an event listener for android accelerometer sensor in a Service, it works fine until the screen is turned off. I have already tried to register the eventListener on a Service, on an IntentService, tried to acquire WakeLocks. Regarding wakelocks, I can verify that the service is still running watching the LOGcat output, but it seems the accelerometer is put into sleep mode. One of the workarounds presented in some of the links is to unregister and re-register the event listener periodically using the thread of an IntentService like in this code snippet bellow

which indeed makes the onSensorChange be called every time we unregister/register the listener. The problem is that the event received contains always the same values, regardless of me shaking the device.

So, basically my questions are: ( bear with me, I&#39;m almost finishing :P )

 1. is it possible to have low level access (C/C++ approach) to the accelerometer hardware WITHOUT registering to an event listener?

 2. is there any other workaround or hack?

 3. could anyone with a more up-to-date phone kindly test if the problem persists in firmware 3.0 and above?

I have three activities in my app. I want to keep the screen awake when it is in the second activity. The screen should not go off in my second activity unless the &quot;lock&quot; key is pressed manually. I went through many links but they seem unclear to me.

I&#39;ve seen a couple of posts on here on how to check if the screen is locked, but none of it has been working for me. It all detects if the actual screen is off or not (not if it&#39;s locked).

I have a game in which music plays. When the lock button is pressed, it continues to play. I originally had the music stopping in `OnStop`, but the application would restart after getting locked, so the music would eventually start up again.

Then, I added `KeyboardHidden|orientation` to the manifest. This makes it so it doesn&#39;t restart the app, but `OnStop` doesn&#39;t seem to get called anymore.

I&#39;ve tried using `PowerManager` to see if the screen is on/off, which works, but doesn&#39;t help. (I can get the music to stop there, but as soon as you hit the lock button again, the music starts right back up)

I have a C# Windows application that I want to ensure will show up on a second monitor if the user moves it to one.  I need to save the main form&#39;s size, location and window state - which I&#39;ve already handled - but I also need to know which screen it was on when the user closed the application.

How do I determine which monitor my .NET Windows Forms program is running on?

I need to know exactly how big the screen is on the device in real units of length so I can calculate the acceleration due to gravity in pixels per millisecond.

Is there a method somewhere in the Android API for this?

Is there a way to determine android physical screen height in cm or inches?

I&#39;m developing an app in android and I have to support all different screen sizes and density. So i&#39;ve created different folder for layout : `layout-small layout-large` and `layout`. 


Then I&#39;ve created different folder for image: `ldpi, mdpi` and `hdpi`. In all drawable folder the image must be with different size true? I ask this cause of I have a phone with screen size large and density medium, the image shown will be smaller and they will not take the right size?
