I couldn&#39;t find anything on this (maybe I&#39;m just using the wrong search terms..):  
We&#39;re trying to build a sensible continuous integration setting for our apps. To have a REALLY sensible implementation, the build server should be able to automatically refresh the used provisioning profiles from apple. Similar to what the X-Code organizer does, but automagically via command line.   
Any clue if that&#39;s possible at all?

I&#39;m having a problem installing a provisioning profile created by another developer.

 1. Development Certificate already exists
 2. App I&#39;m working on has a Provisioning Profile associated with the certificate
 3. My device UUID has been added
 4. AppID for the app already exists
 5. Development Provisioning Profile exists, with my UUID
 

When I download the Certificate and Provisioning Profile I get the error in Organizer:

    Xcode could not find a valid private certificate/valid key-pair for this profile in your keychain

I have published an app through the testflight website to allow my colleagues to test, and as more and more of them opens the initial email and find time to go through the registration process, testers are trickling in on my testflight team.

However, the process to add them to the test seems a bit convoluted, so I thought I&#39;d verify, and ask, if I&#39;m doing it right, or if I have missed something obvious.

At the moment the whole procedure looks like this:

1. A colleague opens up the initial email, with the invitation link
2. He/she then registers the device, and registers for the test
3. I am informed of this new tester through an email and through the testflight site
4. I then have to download (or write down/copy) the list of UDID&#39;s of all the new testers since last time
5. I then have to visit the devices part of the Apple Developers site, and upload that file
6. Edit my provisioning profile to include the new devices
7. Wait for it to approve, and download the provisioning profile
8. I drag the provisioning profile into the Xcode provisioning profile organizer
9. I then go back to MonoDevelop, and ensure it is still pointing to the right profile *(I don&#39;t know if using MonoDevelop/MonoTouch complicates this process so I didn&#39;t want to leave it out, it might be irrelevant for this question)*
10. I rebuild, and republish on testflight
11. I then visit the testflight website, find the new/updated build, and ensure all my testers are informed of it

I noticed that if I do not update the version, it will &quot;silently&quot; replace the existing build, and reuse the list of testers that have already been informed, so if I just check all the new testers and complete, it&#39;ll only inform the new ones.

However, it seems a bit of a work to have to keep downloading and mucking about with the provisioning profile files.

Did I miss something obvious? Is there a way for me to make any part of this easier?

For instance, I noticed that I can create a provisioning profile inside the Xcode organizer, however that dialog box doesn&#39;t list any certificates so I can&#39;t complete that dialog. If this is a key element, leave a short answer to that effect and I&#39;ll instead repost a new question about that.

*This* question is just: Is the above procedure correct?

Publishing to TestFlight, new testers, do I really need to rebuild/download my provisioning profile?

I tried to add my iPhone to Xcode4 to test my Application on it. I added the device in the Apple Developer-Center and downloaded the Provision-Profile. We pay 99$ per month for the account and I&#39;m not the only person who use this account. So there is already an &quot;older&quot; certificate present which I tried to add to my keychain-manager. But I see a red-text above it (translated from german) &quot;This certificate has been signed by an unknown instance.&quot;.

In my XCode-Device Manager in the Provisioning-Section there&#39;s also an error: &quot;XCode could not find a valid private-key/certificate pair for this profile in your keychain.&quot;

I really don&#39;t understand what I have to do now. These keys may really not exist in my keychain, I can&#39;t find them. So how I have to create them know and how can I use them if there is already one certificate in the Apple Dev-Center?

I am getting this error while I am trying to debug my app on device.

I created development provisioning profile as it is mentioned at the developer portal. My development device is selected in the profile and I am selecting the correct profile from Target&#39;s code signing identity menu. I recreated provisioning profile for several times and also removed and reinstalled it and recreated the project but I am getting that whenever I try to debug on device.

Btw, the adhoc distribution provision profile works.

I spent my whole day to find out a solution but nothing. Anyone have a solution?

A valid provisioning profile for this executable was not found for debug mode

I have just added a provisioning profile to XCode (needed to support notifications and in app purchase), setup as needed the build configuration for ad hoc distribution, and tried to run the app on the device (I have done this several times in the past, without any problem).

The app is installed, but it does not start. On the console, I see the following message:

    Error launching remote program: failed to get the task for process 82.
    Error launching remote program: failed to get the task for process 82.
    The program being debugged is not being run.
    The program being debugged is not being run.

However, if I start the application on the device manually, it works as expected. I have recently installed the latest XCode 3.2 for Snow Leopard. Is this a known bug of this version of XCode or am I doing something wrong?

EDIT: It works fine with release distribution using the development provisioning profile.
I have checked again the ad hoc provisioning profile to make sure it includes the device I am using.


iPhone Debugging: How to resolve &#39;failed to get the task for process&#39;?

I have a strange problem.

I have an iPad with iOS 5.0.1 (9A405) and iOS SDK 5.0.1 with Xcode 4.2 (Build 4C199) installed on my Mac.

Xcode doesn&#39;t see my device. It says &quot;iOS Device&quot; not &quot;Sauron&#39;s iPad&quot; as usual.  
(I am sure that device is connected because I see it in iTunes.)
Xcode denies to start my application on device. 
It says: 

&gt; &quot;Xcode cannot run using selected device. No provisioned iOS devices
&gt; are available with a compatible iOS version. Connect an iOS device
&gt; with a recent enough version of iOS to run your application or choose
&gt; an iOS simulator as the destination.&quot;

Xcode sees my other iPad with iOS 4.3.3 and can run applications on this device.
I have tried to restart my Mac - without result.

I also checked provisioning profile, developer certificate, etc. 

Does anybody have ideas? 

Xcode doesn&#39;t see my iOS device but iTunes does

I need to add a device to my team provisioning profile, however I do not physically have the device so I can&#39;t hook it up to my computer so Xcode can&#39;t add the UDID to my devices and to the team provisioning profile.  Is there a way to add it manually to the team provisioning profile, I can&#39;t figure out how to edit it.  Also when I add the device in my provisioning portal it doesn&#39;t get added to my team provisioning profile automatically.

I have been archiving for ad hoc distribution fine for many months and suddenly today I cannot do so as the Archive menu item is disabled. I have not changed anything. I went through the provisioning setup for the project and it looks ok.

My Ad Hoc profile is about to expire in 14 days. Could this be the problem? I don&#39;t believe I can renew it until the day it expires. There is a a &quot;renew&quot; button for my ad hoc profile in the organizer but when I click it I get...

The profile in the provisioning portal shows active, expiring on the 30th. I noticed that I had not yet upgraded to 4.6.2 and did so. Then I downloaded my profile and double cliked it thinking that would refresh the profile in Xcode, still no joy. I also tried manually replacing the profile file MyAddHocProfile.mobileprovision in the Library.

What do they mean &quot;refresh your provisioning profile&quot;?

Even so, I would think that as long as the profile is active, I should be able to create an archive. I must be doing something else wrong.

I&#39;m trying to upload my iOS app archive to iTunes Connect using Xcode, but when I click &quot;Upload to App Store&quot; I get the error:

I&#39;m really confused, because I had just successfully uploaded an archive for the same app about 2 hours earlier, and then I needed to make one simple fix and then needed to reupload the archive, and now I&#39;m getting this error. I did not touch anything else.

I&#39;ve done everything that I can think of to try fixing the problem, I restarted Xcode, my computer, went to Xcode preferences to click &#39;Download All&#39; on the provisioning profiles, clicked &quot;Reset&quot; on the iOS Distribution on the same page, downloaded again the iOS distribution profile from the member center, went to the code signing settings in my app&#39;s build settings and manually set the release signing identity to the iOS distribution profile, and rearchived several times. 

Update: Turns out it&#39;s due to the WWDRCA expiring today: https://developer.apple.com/support/certificates/expiration/
There are a lot of other people experiencing the same issue. I was able to temporarily bypass the issue by changing the date on my computer back 1 day.

Just got a notice that the provisioning profile for one of my apps is about to expire. Is there some way I can renew the existing one or must I recreate a new one?

Renew Provisioning Profile

While experimenting with iPhone app development, we have **several AppIDs which should be deleted** - except I can&#39;t find any way to delete them! What can I do with them?

If delete is not available, how about renaming, hiding or permanently disabling?

Beginning April 2013 Apple allows deleting AppIDs. Whoaa!

In the Apple Developer Portal, in Certificates, Developer (or Distribution) it says:

I don&#39;t even know what that means. Do I need to download and run that?
or do I need to only download the current certificate only?

When I upload to Application Loader I receive the following message:

I have this contained in my app folder. When I compress no matter how obvious I make the provisioning profile, I receive this error trying to upload my app for Apple.

I recently reinstalled OSX. It has been a pain rounding up all of my certificates, etc, but I finally am back. However, when trying to install an app on either of two iPhones 3G&#39;s I have, they both say:

Software version: 4.2.1 (8C148) | XCode cannot find the software image to install this version. | Could not support development.

What is going on? Both iPhones list themselves as up to date in iTunes, and iOS developer&#39;s center only lists 4.2 as the available SDK.

EDIT: I do have a paid membership, and I have recently had test apps installed on both of these devices.

UPDATE: I removed all 3 ( the 2 included ) of my devices from the provisioning portal, and deleted them from the organizer, closed XCode, detached device, restarted, plugged in device, no luck.

iPhone Could Not Support Development

Some of tasks I wrote start and never end. Ansible does not provide any errors or logs that would explain this, even with -vvvv option. Playbook just hangs and passing hours doesn&#39;t change anything.

When I try to run my tasks manually (by entering commands via SSH) everything is fine. 

Example task that hangs:

    - name: apt upgrade
      shell: apt-get upgrade

Is there any way to see stdout and stderr ? I tried:

    - name: apt upgrade
      shell: apt-get upgrade
      register: hello
    - debug: msg=&quot;{{ hello.stdout }}&quot;
    - debug: msg=&quot;{{ hello.stderr }}&quot;

but nothing changed.

I do have required permissions and I pass correct sudo password - other tasks that require sudo execute correctly.
