How can I test an iOS application on my iPod Touch without registering for the Apple Developer Program or jailbreaking my iPod?

Neither is a viable option at the moment.

I&#39;d like to test on the device itself instead of the onscreen simulator to see how it performs on an actual iPod.

My distribution certificate is expiring on June 7th, along with all of my provisioning files. How do I properly renew it? Should I revoke it now and request a new one? If I do that than will all my live apps be taken down?

TestFlight offers over-the-air beta distribution of iOS apps (on non-jailbroken devices). How can this be done? Is this an iOS feature, or a vulnerability exploit?

How does TestFlight do it?

I cant seem to refresh my provisioning profiles in Xcode without crashes. Every time I press the refresh button in organizer it crashes and I retrieve this line from the error log:

    UNCAUGHT EXCEPTION (NSInvalidArgumentException): *** setObjectForKey: object cannot be nil (key: teamId)

So I checked my teamId but dont find anything unusual. Anybody have any ideas what causing my problem? This uses to work for me every time I refreshed my profiles. Even did that this morning for like 10 times.

Xcode crash when refreshing provisioning profiles

How do I sign the .ipa file with a provisioning profile after I generate an IPA like the following with a different provision profile? I would like to sign the IPA with an ad-hoc provisioning profile for beta testing, and then re-sign the exact IPA with an app submission provisioning profile for the app store.

I recently updated to Xcode 8 and as I click on &quot;download&quot; option next to provisioning profile in Xcode/Preferences/Accounts/View Details menu it changes to gray and does not download. After restarting Xcode the download button is again clickable and the problem persists.

Xcode 8 provisioning profile won&#39;t download

I installed the Xcode 6 GM seed, and I&#39;m trying to create an IPA file for the first time. After archive success, when I click on the Export button, a window appears saying:

&gt; **Failed to locate or generate matching signing assets**

&gt; * **Your account already has a valid iOS Distribution certificate.**

Why am I getting an error &quot;Failed to locate or generate matching signing assets&quot; in Xcode 6?

I am trying to sign an app with my client&#39;s certificates. I have received the following file from the client

I tried installing the `ios_distribution` certificate and the key (.p12). Also I have installed the provisioning profile. Now when I try to sign the app with the provisioning profile, it does show up in the drop down but I get the following error:-

I&#39;m trying to get push notifications going and getting the dreaded

I&#39;m fairly certain I&#39;ve followed all the steps correctly, including:

- made the push certificate well in advance of the provisioning cert
- made a &#39;Entitlements.plist&#39;
- added a get-task-allow boolean and set it to true (ad-hoc release)

The only think I can&#39;t quite get my head around is the Bundle Identifier

The push certificate is for

    XXXXXXXXXX.com.julianbaker.pwcnewsuk

The Bundle Indentifier in PwCNewUK-Info.plist is for

    com.julianbaker.${PRODUCT_NAME:rfc1034identifier}

If I manually change it to

    com.julianbaker.pwcnewsuk

I get a UDID mismatch error as the app is seen as PwCNewsUK

When I&#39;ve Googled this there seems to be some confusion over the matter, but it seems they have to match?

When I upload to Application Loader I receive the following message:

I have this contained in my app folder. When I compress no matter how obvious I make the provisioning profile, I receive this error trying to upload my app for Apple.

After upgrading to macOS 10.13.4 and Xcode 9.3, my project now makes all my Provisioning Profile ineligible! They worked before upgrade.

The error message for the distribution profile is:

Provisioning profile &quot;distribution profile name&quot; doesn&#39;t include signing certificate &quot;development certificate name&quot;

So I search through the forum, 

 - remove ALL items in keychain My Certificate
 - redownload the distribution profile
   (double tap to install to Xcode)
 - create new distribution profile (double tap to install to Xcode)
 - recreate the Production certificate (double tap to install to Keychain)
 - redownload the Development certificate (double tap to install to Keychain)

So now my keychain has two production certificate (one is newly created), and one development certificate, and the error is still there. I found it weird that it asked for the development certificate in distribution profile? (I think this is a clue but I don&#39;t know why and what to do.)

So now what should I do? Please help!

I&#39;m trying to test my app on an iPhone 3G, however I&#39;m getting this error:

No provisioned iOS devices are available with a compatible iOS version. Connect an iOS device with a recent enough version of iOS to run your application or choose an iOS simulator as the destination.

Note that:

 - The 3G has version 4.2.1 of iOS installed
 - The iOS deployment target is set to version 4.2
 - The device has valid development profiles installed
 - I&#39;m using the latest Xcode 4

I&#39;m at a loss.  Can anyone help?

I have published an app through the testflight website to allow my colleagues to test, and as more and more of them opens the initial email and find time to go through the registration process, testers are trickling in on my testflight team.

However, the process to add them to the test seems a bit convoluted, so I thought I&#39;d verify, and ask, if I&#39;m doing it right, or if I have missed something obvious.

At the moment the whole procedure looks like this:

1. A colleague opens up the initial email, with the invitation link
2. He/she then registers the device, and registers for the test
3. I am informed of this new tester through an email and through the testflight site
4. I then have to download (or write down/copy) the list of UDID&#39;s of all the new testers since last time
5. I then have to visit the devices part of the Apple Developers site, and upload that file
6. Edit my provisioning profile to include the new devices
7. Wait for it to approve, and download the provisioning profile
8. I drag the provisioning profile into the Xcode provisioning profile organizer
9. I then go back to MonoDevelop, and ensure it is still pointing to the right profile *(I don&#39;t know if using MonoDevelop/MonoTouch complicates this process so I didn&#39;t want to leave it out, it might be irrelevant for this question)*
10. I rebuild, and republish on testflight
11. I then visit the testflight website, find the new/updated build, and ensure all my testers are informed of it

I noticed that if I do not update the version, it will &quot;silently&quot; replace the existing build, and reuse the list of testers that have already been informed, so if I just check all the new testers and complete, it&#39;ll only inform the new ones.

However, it seems a bit of a work to have to keep downloading and mucking about with the provisioning profile files.

Did I miss something obvious? Is there a way for me to make any part of this easier?

For instance, I noticed that I can create a provisioning profile inside the Xcode organizer, however that dialog box doesn&#39;t list any certificates so I can&#39;t complete that dialog. If this is a key element, leave a short answer to that effect and I&#39;ll instead repost a new question about that.

*This* question is just: Is the above procedure correct?

Publishing to TestFlight, new testers, do I really need to rebuild/download my provisioning profile?

I was under the impression that when you use a development provisioning profile for a build of an app, only the specified developers can deploy that build to a phone.

**But I just deployed a build that uses a development profile to a phone using Xcode Organizer, even though I&#39;m not one of the valid developers for that profile. One of my colleagues, who doesn&#39;t even have Xcode installed, did the same with his phone using iTunes.**

In that case, why not use a development provisioning profile for distributing your app to e.g. your QA team, instead of ad hoc distribution?

EDIT: Please read the part in bold carefully before answering. I&#39;m not asking a basic &quot;how does this work&quot; question. I&#39;ve made a lot of development, ad hoc, and app store builds, and now I find that I seem to have made some wrong assumptions.
