How to send HTML content in email using Python? I can send simple texts.

Send HTML emails with Python

I&#39;m currently sending html formatted emails from PHP&#39;s mail() function and checking them simply to make sure they are showing up as HTML (formatting aside, I&#39;m well aware that the formatting will vary (probably drastically) from client to client). They are displaying as HTML in the Apple Mail client as well as on my iPhone. However, Gmail simply refuses to display it as HTML as all. And by that I don&#39;t mean it is formatted incorrectly, it just simply isn&#39;t using HTML it appears.

The weird part is that an img from a &lt;imG&gt; tag is being loaded, but that&#39;s about it... is it that I&#39;m mostly using divs for layout and that&#39;s too new for Gmail or something (vs tables)?

As far as CSS and what not goes, viewing the raw source shows the following:

I&#39;m confused as to why third party clients would show it fine but Gmail simply ignore it?

HTML formatted email not showing up at all in Gmail but is in other mail clients

I&#39;m trying to duplicate a mailer I got into my gmail by taking a look at its code. I see a lot of this in multiple source viewers:

My Rails 3 application sends out emails in both plain text and HTML formats. I have tested it locally using RoundCube and Squirrel Mail clients and they both display HTML version with images, links, etc. GMail on the other hand chooses plain text format. Any idea what&#39;s causing this?

GMail displays plain text email instead HTML

I&#39;m designing an HTML template for an email newsletter. I&#39;ve learned that many email clients ignore linked stylesheets, and many others (including Gmail) ignore CSS block declarations altogether. Are inline style attributes my only choice? What are the best practices for styling HTML emails?

I&#39;m trying to create an HTML email that will display properly in all widely used email clients.  I&#39;m wrapping the whole email in a table, and I&#39;d like it to have a width that is up to 98% of the available width, but no greater than 800 pixels.  Like this:

But I&#39;m not doing it that way, since &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.campaignmonitor.com/css/&quot;&gt;according to this&lt;/a&gt; Outlook 2007 does not support the CSS width property.

Instead, I&#39;m doing this:

Is there any way to also set a max-width without relying on CSS?


Is there an equivalent of CSS max-width that works in HTML emails?

In my email views, I usually just do something like...

Should I be doing it like this?

When creating HTML emails, should we use html, head, body tags?

[Data URIs][1] are a standard way to embed images and other binary data in HTML, and browser support is well documented on the web. (IE8 was the first version of IE to support Data URI, with a max 32 KB size per URI; other major browsers have supported it even longer.)

My question is about desktop email and webmail client software.

When building HTML email, standard practice is either to include images as attachments or load them externally (i.e. tracking images). Both of these have disadvantages (some clients list all of these attached files, while many rightly block or require user action to see external images). So, Data URI looks like a good way to go, but only if it&#39;s supported by email readers.

So, does anyone have a link to a recent study of support for this feature? Or investigated this at all? For example, here&#39;s an [overview of CSS support][2]. Client software I&#39;d be interested includes: 

**Desktop** (including version info): Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, Evolution, Lotus Notes, AOL, Eudora

**Webmail:** Gmail, Live/Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, AOL

What is Data URI support like in major email client software?

I&#39;m generating a html email that uses an internal stylesheet, i.e.

When viewed in Gmail it seems all the styles in the internal stylesheet are ignored. It seems Gmail ignores all styles other than inline rules, e.g.

Is this my only option for styling HTML emails when viewed with Gmail?

Styling HTML email for Gmail

I normally use CSS rules for `margin:0 auto` along with a 960 container for my standard browser based content, but I&#39;m  new to HTML email creation and I&#39;ve got the following design that I&#39;d like to now center in the browser window without standard CSS.

I seem to recall seeing somewhere that it can also be accomplished by wrapping your email table design in an outer table set to `width:100%` and using some inline style for `text-align:center` on the tbody or something like this to do it?

What&#39;s the best way to center your HTML email content in the browser window (or email client preview pane)?

I&#39;m using the `premailer-rails3` gem which pulls styles inline for html emails, and I&#39;m trying to get it working with Twitter bootstrap.

It looks like some styles come in correctly, but not all of them.  I&#39;m wondering if anyone has a nice working example of getting their Twitter Bootstrap css (modified or not) into an html email.

Using a rich-text editor, our users can drag and drop a saved image from their desktop to the editor. The image appears and displays properly in the web page after they submit.

Since the image is not uploaded anywhere, the editor saves the image as a base64-encoded image.

But it doesn&#39;t show up - not on the iPhone, nor two different versions of Outlook. The image is simply broken. We want to stick with base64 due to it already working with the web page and the ability to view an image if the user is offline.

HTML email: tables or divs?

I have hosted a single static HTML page using GitHub Pages. I need to add a &quot;Send Feedback&quot; feature to my static page where a user can type in his name, email, comments and click the SUBMIT button. This will send an email with the contents to my email address. Can this somehow work in a static HTML page on GitHub? Does GitHub Pages support this mailing feature?  

I also want to know what features/plugins etc can GitHub Pages server support based on the underlying web server it uses?

I’m trying to make a html5 form that contains one email input, one check box input, and one submit input.
I&#39;m trying to use the pattern attribute for the email input but I don&#39;t know what to place in this attribute. I do know that I&#39;m supposed to use a regular expression that must match the JavaScript Pattern production but I don&#39;t know how to do this.

What I&#39;m trying to get this attribute to do is to check to make sure that the email contains one @ and at least one or more dot and if possible check to see if the address after the @ is a real address. If I can&#39;t do this through this attribute then I&#39;ll consider using JavaScript but for checking for one @ and one or more dot I do want to use the pattern attribute for sure.

The pattern attribute needs to check for:

1. Only one @
2. One or more dot
3. And if possible check to see if the address after the @ is a valid address

An alternative to this one is to use a JavaScript but for all the other conditions I do not want to use a JavaScript.

I send a lot of HTML emails. The problem with GMail is, if there are more than one emails with the same subject, it hides some similar content and shows a &quot;...&quot; to show the &quot;trimmed content&quot;. This screws up with my formatting. 


If changing the subject is not an option, is there is any way to avoid this behaviour?

The red borders are there only to show the outlines of the cells. I don&#39;t want them there in the final version.

Remove spacing between table cells and rows

I want to generate graphs in SVG, and email an HTML page with those graphs embedded in it (not stored on a server and shown with linked images). 

I&#39;ve tried directly embedding the SVG, using the Object element, and serializing and URI encoding the SVG and specifying the whole string as a background image on a div. Nothing seems to display in Outlook 2013. Any ideas?

How can I embed SVG into HTML in an email, so that it&#39;s visible in most/all email browsers?

I used CSS in my email and sent it out.

When I received the email in Gmail, all the CSS was disabled; however, when I retrieved the email in thunderbird or outlook, everything is OK.

How would I fix this?
