I recently encountered a SwiftMail error while trying to send a mail through gmail.

     Expected response code 250 but got code &quot;535&quot;, with message &quot;535-5.7.8 Username and Password not accepted.

I was trying to  send mail through my gmail and google thought that I was a spam(maybe because I was requesting too fast) I received a mail from them saying my account was access and I told them it was me. I was able to send mail without problem and it just occured now.

This is the contents of my env file.

I have a client who wants to send gift certificates to people who sign up on their site. They want it all designed out, so I can&#39;t just send a text email. I&#39;m trying to position text over the image so that it can still be dynamic.

I&#39;m trying to do this with absolute positioning. Some email systems love it. Some hate it. Gmail happens to hate it.

We&#39;re using MailChimp for the campaign. Here is the full source of the email. Following that is just the snippet that isn&#39;t working.

Note: MailChimp merge variables are those things between *| and |*.

Absolute positioning in gmail emails

I am trying to send email (Gmail) using python, but I am getting following error.

How to send an email with Gmail as provider using Python?

I&#39;m currently sending html formatted emails from PHP&#39;s mail() function and checking them simply to make sure they are showing up as HTML (formatting aside, I&#39;m well aware that the formatting will vary (probably drastically) from client to client). They are displaying as HTML in the Apple Mail client as well as on my iPhone. However, Gmail simply refuses to display it as HTML as all. And by that I don&#39;t mean it is formatted incorrectly, it just simply isn&#39;t using HTML it appears.

The weird part is that an img from a &lt;imG&gt; tag is being loaded, but that&#39;s about it... is it that I&#39;m mostly using divs for layout and that&#39;s too new for Gmail or something (vs tables)?

I&#39;m confused as to why third party clients would show it fine but Gmail simply ignore it?

I have an email almost 4 years ago, which has Zip file in attachments containing executable jar file. I want to download that file. But, nowadays gmail doesn&#39;t allow to send or receive any executable file. Can anybody help me how can I download that zip from from my email?

Gmail Error :The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.5.1 Authentication Required

I am trying to send an email using Java and Gmail. I have stored my files on the cloud and the stored files I want to send as an attachment to my email.

It should add those files to this mail and not links of those files.

How I can send such attachments?

This is a question that I asked a long time ago, and the accepted answer is code that I&#39;ve used many, many times on different projects.

Sending email through Gmail SMTP server with C#

Is it possible to send an email from my Java application using a GMail account?  I have configured my company mail server with Java app to send email, but that&#39;s not going to cut it when I distribute the application. Answers with any of using Hotmail, Yahoo or GMail are acceptable.

Sending email in .NET through Gmail

I&#39;ve got some automatic emails that are sent out upon signup completion for my site.

Until recently, they worked fine. Now [Google&#39;s new system is rewriting the images and storing them in it&#39;s cache][1] (supposedly)

However, Google&#39;s new rewriting of my image links are completely breaking them, giving a 500 error and a broken link image.

Lets say my normal image url is:

    http://www.mysite.com/images/pic1.jpg

Google is rewriting this to:

    https://ci5.googleusercontent.com/proxy/vI79kajdUGm6Wk-fjyicDLjZbCB1w9NfkoZ-zQFOB2OpJ1ILmSvfvHmE56r72us5mIuIXCFiO3V8rgkZOjfhghTH0R07BbcQy5g=s0-d-e1-ft#http://www.mysite.com/images/pic1.jpg

However, there is nothing at that URL.

So, either there is something wrong with the links that are being created by Google or the images are just not being uploaded to the googleusercontent server, but I have no idea how to solve the issue.

Im using PHP, the [phpmailer library][3] and a Ubuntu server on Amazon EC2, but Im not sure that is related to the issue.

Gmail&#39;s new image caching is breaking image links in newsletter

We receive regular automated build messages from Jenkins build servers at work.

It&#39;d be nice to ferret these away into a label, skipping the inbox.

Using a filter is of course the right choice.

The desired identifier is the string `[RELEASE]` at the beginning of a subject line.

Attempting to specify any of the following regexes causes emails with the string `release` in any case anywhere in the subject line to be matched:

    ^\[RELEASE\]
    ^\[RELEASE\]*
    ^\[RELEASE\].*

From what I&#39;ve read subsequently, Gmail doesn&#39;t have standard regex support, and from experimentation it seems, as with google search, special characters are simply ignored. 

I&#39;m therefore looking for a search parameter which can be used, maybe something like `atstart:mystring` in keeping with their `has:`, `in:` notations.

Is there a way to force the match only if it occurs at the start of the line, and only in the case where square brackets are included?

The URL link below will open a new Google mail window.  The problem I have is that Google replaces all the plus (+) signs in the email body with blank space.  It looks like it only happens with the `+` sign.  How can I remedy this?  (I am working on a ASP.NET web page.)

After adding `:tls =&gt; true` option I get

And then I changed port to  25 and now I get this (with  30 seconds delay):

Net::SMTPAuthenticationError when sending email from Rails app (on staging environment)

I know about **Data URI**s in which [`base64`][1] encoded data can be used inline such as images. Today I received an email actually an spam one in which there was an animated (gif) icon in its subject:

So the only thing did cross my mind was all about Data URIs and if Gmail allows some sort of emoticons to be inserted in subject. I saw the full detailed version of email and pointed to subject line at the below picture:

So GIF comes from `=?UTF-8?B?876Urg==?=` encoded string which is similar to Data URI scheme however I couldn&#39;t get the icon out of it. Here is element HTML source:

Long story short, there are lots of emoticons from `https://mail.google.com/mail/e/XXX` where `XXX` are hexadecimal numbers. They are documented nowhere or I couldn&#39;t find it. If that&#39;s about Data URI, so how is it possible to include them in Gmail&#39;s email subject? (I forwarded that email to a yahoo email account, seeing `[?]` instead of icon) and if it&#39;s not, then how that encoded string is parsed?

Animated icon in email subject

I found a [post][1] that provides an example for a link which opens just a compose message window. However, I would like it to open a window with the *full Gmail interface* but ready to compose a new message.

Of course this works:

https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/#compose

But, I would also like to add a subject, to, bcc, etc. I tried something like the following, but to no avail:

https://mail.google.com/mail/?to=inbox@example.com&amp;bcc=admin@example.com&amp;subject=Hey#compose

URL to compose a message in Gmail (with full Gmail interface and specified to, bcc, subject, etc.)

I would like to implement same functionality as Gmail has nowadays. When new email arrives or new chat comes, notification popup appears and if you click it, the tab with Gmail gets focussed. 

I have this code:

When I click notification it makes it just disappear. Now I need to add some code to onclick function to bring up and focus page that created this notification. I know it is possible because GMail does it very well. But I didn&#39;t succeed in looking into Gmail sources (they are minimalized and obfuscated). 

Anybody knows how to do this ?

In GMail, the user can click on one checkbox in the email list, hold down the Shift key, and select a second checkbox. The JavaScript will then select/unselect the checkboxes that are between the two checboxes.

I am curious as to how this is done? Is this JQuery or some basic (or complex) JavaScript?

I really like how these new buttons work in Gmail.  How can I use these or similar buttons on my site?  Are there any open source projects with a similar look &amp; feel?

If I wanted to roll my own button package like this using JQuery/XHTML/CSS, what elements could I use?  My initial thoughts are:

1. Standard `&lt;input type=&quot;button&quot;&gt;` with css to improve the look (the design article talked mostly about the css/imges involves.)

2. Jquery javascript to bring up a custom dialog rooted to the button on the &quot;onclick&quot; event which would have `&lt;a&gt;` tags in them and a search bar for filtering?  Would a table layout for that popup be sane?


I&#39;m terrible at reverse engineering things on the web, what are some of the tools that I could use to help reverse engineer these buttons?  Using Firefox&#39;s web developer toolbar I can&#39;t really see the css or javascript (even if it is minified) that is used on the buttons popup dialogs.  What browser tool or other method could I use to peek at them and get some ideas?

I&#39;m not looking to steal any of Google&#39;s IP, just get an idea of how I could create similar button functionality.

How to to send mail using gmail in Laravel?

The Gmail inbox feed is recently having issues updating. It is only updating after 2 consecutive and different emails have been marked as unread.

This is the official Gmail inbox atom feed API which is having issues as of May 30th and which many extensions are using:

Steps to reproduce the problem:

1. Go to Gmail and mark an email as unread
2. Click refresh in the &quot;Checker Plus for Gmail&quot; popup window or wait 1 minute in the Google Mail Checker
3. Go to Gmail and mark **another** email as unread
4. Click refresh in the &quot;Checker Plus for Gmail&quot; popup window or wait 1 minute in the Google Mail Checker

The unread mail count is not correctly displaying the number of unread emails with each mark as unread after refreshing. It only working after 2 consecutive mark as unread on different emails.

Are there workarounds or alternatives that do the same thing, or do I need to wait for Google to fix it?

Send email using the GMail SMTP server from a PHP page

I&#39;m sending an e-mail newsletter in HTML. 
Inside the HTML I have something like

When I open the newsletter with Thunderbird or Outlook, the image is being displayed. However, when I open it with Gmail, no image is shown.
I&#39;m not sure if it&#39;s about the proxy that Gmail uses for security reasons or if it&#39;s something else. Either way, I&#39;d like to know if anyone ever came across this and if so, how it was solved.

Getting mail from GMail into Java application using IMAP

For educational purposes, I need to send an email through an SMTP server, using SMTP&#39;s fundamental and simple rules. 

I was able to do that using [smtp4dev][1]. I `telnet localhost 25` and and commands are:

I want to do the same thing, using Gmail SMTP server. However, it requires authentication and TLS. I can&#39;t figure out how to do that for Gmail. Here&#39;s a screenshot of `telnet smtp.gmail.com 587`:

I searched and found many links including [Wikipedia&#39;s article][4] about `STARTTLS` command. But I&#39;m not able to use TLS and authenticate to Gmail&#39;s SMTP server using command line (or sending commands myself in programming languages). Can anyone help?

How can I use the curl command line program to send an email from a gmail account?

I have tried the following:

    curl -n --ssl-reqd --mail-from &quot;&lt;sender@gmail.com&gt;&quot; --mail-rcpt &quot;&lt;receiver@server.tld&gt;&quot; --url smtps://smtp.gmail.com:465 -T file.txt

With file.txt being the email&#39;s contents, however, when I run this command I get the following error:

    curl: (67) Access denied: 530

Is it possible to send an email from an account that is hosted by a personal server, still using curl? Does that make the authentication process easier?

I&#39;ve been trying to display them, but to no avail. I&#39;m wondering if there&#39;s a trick to displaying them, because I&#39;m able to get clients such as Outlook to display SVG&#39;s. It&#39;s really bothering me that gmail can&#39;t display them.

I have been testing out an HTML e-mail process I&#39;ve created recently.  But as of lately, when I open the e-mail in Gmail, I&#39;m noticing that certain elements are wrapped in a class that I know I didn&#39;t put in the original HTML layout.  In fact I just triple checked!  When viewing the HTML email in Gmail, random sections of my form are being wrapped with...

I send a lot of HTML emails. The problem with GMail is, if there are more than one emails with the same subject, it hides some similar content and shows a &quot;...&quot; to show the &quot;trimmed content&quot;. This screws up with my formatting. 


If changing the subject is not an option, is there is any way to avoid this behaviour?

I need to create a Google App Script to respond to machine generated emails, except those also sent to one colleague or contain a particular topic outside my responsibility. 

I&#39;ve been trying to use the `GmailApp.search` API which includes all mail from user X but NOT those emails which are also addressed to user Y NOR those containing &quot;junk_term&quot;. I want the emails archived and to skip the inbox.

Adding an attachment to email using C#

Image links in gmail are broken because of google&#39;s Image proxy ([news1][1],[news2][2]). I can&#39;t load my site&#39;s images in gmail.

Actual image path is:

On Android, when the user opens a mail with Gmail and clicks a link contained in the mail, then this URL is opened in sort-of a &quot;mini browser&quot;, with a special bar at the top.

In my case the URL is a Portable Web Application (PWA) and should be opened in the Chrome browser itself (giving the user the possibility to manually add the URL to the home screen).

Is there a way to tell Gmail to always open the URL in the normal Chrome Mobile browser (or the standard browser)?
