I am following [Github’s OAuth flow](https://developer.github.com/v3/oauth/), and obtaining an access token that gives me access to the user’s email scope.  When I exchange a code for an access token, using the https://github.com/login/oauth/access_token endpoint, I get the following response:

    {

      scope: &#39;user:email&#39; 
    }

Looks great.  So I make this request, using the token to get my user data:

    Accept-Language: en-us
    Accept: application/json
    Authorization: token 83f42..xxx
    Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate
    
    GET https://api.github.com/user


I do get my user object as a response, but the email property is null.  Anyone else having this problem?

It&#39;s very weird, because I just followed the documentation and created a token two weeks ago on GitHub. The token expires on Tue, Oct 26, 2021. Why has this been removed today?

I was using a username password for pushing my code. It was working for several months, but suddenly I&#39;m not able to do it and am getting this error:

Using GitHub&#39;s API, I can&#39;t get the releases list, but I can get the tags list.

With cURL, we can pass a username with an HTTP web request as follows: 

    $ curl -u &lt;your_username&gt; https://api.github.com/user

The `-u` flag accepts a username for authentication, and then cURL will request the password. The cURL example is for [Basic authentication with the GitHub Api][1].

How do we similarly pass a username and password along with Invoke-WebRequest? The ultimate goal is to user PowerShell with Basic authentication in the GitHub API.

We need to display all the projects of a person in his repository on GitHub account.

Use-case:

1. Command-line application (which is deployed to a 3rd party machine) needs to be able to download a tarball copy of a private repo that belongs to an organization via the GitHub API (v3)

2. Application should only be able to access this one private repo and no other repos with read-only permission.


I have been able to accomplish (1) by creating an authorization for the application after registering a client_id/secret on my github account. However, it does not seem that the tokens returned by the authorization allow read-only access to the repo nor are they restricted to one repo (e.g. one could potentially use the token to modify this repo along with others belonging to the organization).

Is it possible to restrict access via the proper scope? I don&#39;t see anything relevant in the API docs (https://developer.github.com/v3/oauth/#scopes).

I am trying to have my github commits as an RSS feed but so far I have not managed to figure it out. I know that a private feed is available with the following syntax:

    https://github.com/username.atom?token=token

But this the user&#39;s activity feed. I would like a commit feed of one of my projects.  

Update: This was the final syntax: 

    https://github.com/username/repository_name/commits/branch_name.atom?login=login&amp;token=token. 

Still can&#39;t view commits on all branches though.

I create a couple workflows in the `.github/workflows` folder of my repository to experiment with GitHub Actions. I have since learned quite a bit and deleted said &quot;experimental&quot; workflows from my repo. After deleting the &quot;experimental&quot; workflow yaml files and committing the deletions, when I go to the Actions tab of my repository I **STILL** see the workflows that I have since deleted.

I see no option to delete and start from scratch?! Is this not possible? Is it maybe possible through GitHub API? Hmm.

How do I generate the GitHub OAuth token for organization accounts?

We are a team of 60+ developers working on the same product and are moving from SVN to Git and GitHub. We have a process in SVN where in individual files are locked and whenever a developer wants to commit code, he needs to get it unlocked by the owner of the file. Three of us are the owners of the total 150+ files. The unlocking is preceded by a code review. 

In Github, we are planning to use the Fork-Clone model - each project a group of dev is working on will do a fork, each developer will do a clone of the fork, write the code &amp; commit to origin, the lead of the feature will do a pull request to upstream.

Though this seems fine, the problem is when a big project gets delivered, it brings in lots of changes for review and hence, increases the load for the file owners. Also, this might happen in the later cycles of development and hence the project might be jeopardized.

One method we thought might work is to have hooks when the git push is done to the origin (fork). There can be one final review git pull to upstream. 

However, we could not find any github extensions or push hooks for the same. Is there a quick way (read, existing extension) to do this with Github or should we use the same hooks that we would use with git?

How can I export all my issues from an Enterprise GitHub repository to an Excel file? I have tried searching many Stack Overflow answers but did not succeed. I have an application which is in a private github repo, and am wondering if the releases could be made public so that the app can auto-update itself from github instead of us having to host it.

I&#39;m trying to get a list of an organization&#39;s all repositories, including private ones. (Or to be more specific, all of the private repositories a certain user has access to.)

Reqesting info for the organization (`https://api.github.com/orgs/acme?access_token=[...]`) shows that there indeed are plenty of private repositories:

    ...

(The access token I&#39;m using had been previously [generated using the API][1] for username/passwd.)

But whatever I try to list the repos...

...GitHub API just returns the 5 public repositories. ([Documentation says][2] `type=all` is default. Also tried adding the parameter `type=private`; no difference.)

Any idea what I&#39;m doing wrong?

The user to whom the access token was generated in fact has Push &amp; Pull access to just some  of the organization&#39;s private repositories, but none of those appear in the list I get (just the 5 public repositories).
