My `~/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Devices` folder is `26 Gb` in size.

Is it safe to just delete all the content? Will those files be automatically regenerated?


macOS Xcode CoreSimulator folder very big. Is it ok to delete content?

There are a **lot of system images** piling up on my disk in the android sdk folder. i hardly use the emulator. May be once in 6 months. Most of my development is directly on device. What i wanted to check was, **will removing the system images (at least for the old APIS i.e. &lt; 22) impact the development?**

**Also, the google apis folder seen below. Should i keep it for all versions or just the one in the latest suffice?**

Android SDK folder taking a lot of disk space. Do we need to keep all of the System Images?

I would like to monitor the following system information in Java:

  - Current CPU usage** (percent)
  - Available memory* (free/total)
  - Available disk space (free/total)

 *Note that I mean overall memory available to the whole system, not just the JVM.

I&#39;m looking for a cross-platform solution (Linux, Mac, and Windows) that doesn&#39;t rely on my own code calling external programs or using JNI. Although these are viable options, I would prefer not to maintain OS-specific code myself if someone already has a better solution.

If there&#39;s a free library out there that does this in a reliable, cross-platform manner, that would be great (even if it makes external calls or uses native code itself).

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

To clarify, I would like to get the current CPU usage for the whole system, not just the Java process(es).

The SIGAR API provides all the functionality I&#39;m looking for in one package, so it&#39;s the best answer to my question so far. However, due it being licensed under the GPL, I cannot use it for my original purpose (a closed source, commercial product). It&#39;s possible that Hyperic may license SIGAR for commercial use, but I haven&#39;t looked into it. For my GPL projects, I will definitely consider SIGAR in the future.

For my current needs, I&#39;m leaning towards the following:

 *  For CPU usage, `OperatingSystemMXBean.getSystemLoadAverage() / OperatingSystemMXBean.getAvailableProcessors()` (load average per cpu)
 *  For memory, `OperatingSystemMXBean.getTotalPhysicalMemorySize()` and `OperatingSystemMXBean.getFreePhysicalMemorySize()`
 *  For disk space, `File.getTotalSpace()` and `File.getUsableSpace()`

Limitations:

The `getSystemLoadAverage()` and disk space querying methods are only available under Java 6. Also, some JMX functionality may not be available to all platforms (i.e. it&#39;s been reported that `getSystemLoadAverage()` returns -1 on Windows).

Although originally licensed under GPL, it [has been changed][2] to [Apache 2.0][1], which can generally be used for closed source, commercial products.

How do I monitor the computer&#39;s CPU, memory, and disk usage in Java?

I&#39;m looking for a better way to detect available/free disk space on the iPhone/iPad device programmatically.&lt;br&gt;
Currently I&#39;m using the NSFileManager to detect the disk space. Following is the snippet of the code which does the job for me:&lt;br&gt;

I am running a container on a VM. My container is writing logs by default to /var/lib/docker/containers/CONTAINER_ID/CONTAINER_ID-json.log file until the disk is full. 

Currently, I have to delete manually this file to avoid the disk to be full. I read that in Docker 1.8 there will be a parameter to [rotate the logs][1]. 
What would you recommend as the current workaround?

Docker container logs taking all my disk space

I have setup docker and I have used  completely different block device to store docker&#39;s system data:

The problem is that when I continue download docker images and run docker containers, it seems that the other hard drive **`/dev/xvda1`** is also used up.

I can verify this problem by remove some docker images. After I removed some docker images, **`/dev/xvda1`** has some more extra space now.

Am I missing something?

I noticed that every time I run an image and delete it, my system doesn&#39;t return to the original amount of available space.

The lifecycle I&#39;m applying to my containers is:

    &gt; docker build ...
    &gt; docker run CONTAINER_TAG
    &gt; docker stop CONTAINER_TAG
    &gt; rm docker CONTAINER_ID
    &gt; rmi docker image_id

The containers in fact were created from custom images, running from node and a standard redis. My OS is OSX 10.11.6.

At the end of the day I see I keep losing Mbs. How can I face this problem?

2020 and the problem persists, leaving this update for the community:

Today running:

- macOS 10.13.6
- Docker Engine 18.9.2
- Docker Desktop Cli 2.0.0.3

The easiest way to workaround the problem is to prune the system with the Docker utilties.

    docker system prune -a --volumes


Docker filling up storage on macOS

I have a backup system that creates directories named after Unix Timestamps, and then creates incremental backups using a hardlink system (--link-dest in rsync), so typically the first backup is very large, and then later backups are fractions as big.

This is my output of my current backups:

I consistently get this behavior, why is the directory considered 28G by the second du command? 

Note - the output remains the same with the -P and -L flags.
