I am trying to debug some PHP code and wanted to download the XDebug debugger for PHP.  All I see there is Windows binaries for downloading.  Is it at all possible to use it on Ubuntu?

I have setup xdebug and webgrind and I have generated a profile so I can start improving the speed of my code execution. I have displayed the profile in webgrind but I haven&#39;t got a clue what any of it means. All the googling I have done doesn&#39;t really explain any of it either.

How do a read a xdebug profile in webgrind?

I&#39;m kind of new to using Homebrew, but I love it.  It&#39;s so easy.  I&#39;m trying install Xdebug.  Some of the posts on the web say to do this:

    brew install xdebug

But it doesn&#39;t work.  I get: `Error, no available formula.`  

I did `brew search xdebug` and it returned:

    josegonzalez/php/php53-xdebug	 josegonzalez/php/php54-xdebug

I tried several different iterations of `brew install` with this including `brew install php53-xdebug`, but still no luck.  Can someone help me?  I can&#39;t find anything on Xdebug&#39;s site about using Homebrew, but yet posts on the web seem to indicate it&#39;s possible.

I have an xdebug profile on a php script that I parsed with kcachegrind. Here is a screenshot showing that the most time spent inside any given function was spent inside `&lt;cycle 1&gt;` and the top &#39;Callers&#39; were made from &#39;include&#39; and &#39;include_once&#39; in index.php.

This profile was run during a stress-test using apache &#39;ab&#39; so there were many concurrent connections occurring.

I am trying to get xdebug working with eclipse (3.5) / php (on xampp windows 7).  I have verified xdebug is enabled in php - I have the fancy output and my phpinfo shows all the xdebug stuff.  I have remote debug on, and typed in the lan ip address on my eclipse machine.

When I tell eclipse to debug, it launches the browser and passes the debug URL parameters.  That looks OK.

However, in eclipse debug perspective it shows &#39;launching myproject&#39; 57%   &#39;waiting for xdebug session&#39;.   It sits there forever.

I have turned off windows firewall on both machines.

I tried turning implicit flush on.

Any ideas?

I&#39;m running localhost web server on my Windows machine with WebMatrix and IISExpress. I&#39;ve installed PHP and Xdebug in it and they both are working.


I have a local WordPress install.



I&#39;m now trying to get PhpStorm to debug it using Xdebug.


When I run PhpStorm it launches the web app in the browser with relevant debugging parameters in the browser.

`xdebug.remote_port` is configured correctly. (Later I found that this is wrong, but not erroneous. It should be port 9000)

But it seems Xdebug never gets to communicate with PhpStorm. PhpStorm keeps listening, and the execution runs completely without stopping at any  break-points.

PhpStorm debugger not stopping at BreakPoints; keeps waiting for xdebug _SESSION_

XDebug offers the configuration directive `xdebug.profiler_enable_trigger` that allows to activate profiling by passing the GET or POST parameter &quot;XDEBUG_PROFILE&quot; when calling a script via HTTP. This is handy if you don&#39;t want profiling for ALL of your scripts but only for a few special cases without always changing your PHP configuration.

Is there a way to achieve the same behavior for command line PHP programs? I tried to pass the `XDEBUG_PROFILE` as a command line argument but it didn&#39;t work.

In general, profiling command line PHP works well, but I&#39;d like to have the same per-call-flexibility as with a browser and HTTP server.

I have made a function that finds all the URLs within an html file and repeats the same process for each html content linked to the discovered URLs. The function is recursive and can go on endlessly. However, I have put a limit on the recursion by setting a global variable which causes the recursion to stop after 100 recursions.

However, php returns this error:

I think that my server became slow since I installed XDebug.
So, in order to test my hypothesis I want to disable XDebug completely.
I&#39;ve been searching for tutorials on how to do this but I can&#39;t find such information.

The only part xdebug comes up in phpinfo() is the following:

In my current set-up of XDebug, using PHPStorm and the [Bookmarklet provided](http://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/webhelp/testing-restful-web-services.html) I&#39;m able to get it working in both Chrome and Firefox - but as soon as I try with POSTman or any other REST client, I can&#39;t figure out how to get it started.

XDebug and RESTful server using PHPStorm or POSTman

I&#39;m having this weird problem. All my settings used to work OK, until I updated my version of PHP. I use macports and have the php5 and php5-xdebug ports installed. 

xdebug is working, but it is stopping on the first line of my script even though I have the option disabled in PhpStorm. There is no breakpoint there, and breakpoints in other parts of the code are working OK.

Is there an xdebug setting I need to change? When I did the upgrade, I lost my php.ini that had some other xdebug configuration.

I have managed to initiate php-cli script debug session from the IDE itself, but I need to start the debugging session from the shell / command line. These are rather complex maintenance PHP scripts which take a lot of input parameters, so entering arguments from within Netbeans is a bit cumbersome.

I have done it before with Zend studio: https://zend18.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/203838096-Debugging-PHP-CLI-Scripts, but now I need to get it working with Netbeans.

How can I get XDebug to run with PHPUnit on the CLI?

If I enable xdebug by settting `xdebug.remote_enable=1`, the apache server becomes very slow; once I change the setting to `0`, it&#39;s normal.

When xdebug remote debug is enabled and I enable debug listening in PHPStorm, it takes a short while to stop at the breakpoint, but not as slow as disabling phpstorm debug listening.

My environment is: ***php + apache + xdebug*** on local centos VM, my mysql db and PHPStorm are on Windows desktop for development. MySQL is not slow.

enabling xdebug remote debug makes apache server very slow

I am using [xdebug][1] (php_xdebug-2.1.2-5.3-vc9.dll) on [WAMP][2]. When I use `var_dump` on a large object or variable it does not show the full variable.

How to get xdebug var_dump to show full object/array

I want a team using different computers to be able to debug PHP on a **remote** server, but I am having a hard time getting Xdebug to work in NetBeans 7.0.1. I’ve tried many online tips, but to no avail.

For the record, I have successfully installed Xdebug **locally** on a Windows 7 machine running WampServer. So I *can* debug PHP with breakpoints in NetBeans, provided I set the *Project Properties-&gt;Run Configuration-&gt;Run As* property to *Local Web Site*. However, as stated above my goal is to debug in NetBeans on a *Remote Web Site*. 

My server is a Ubuntu 11.04 machine. I have used the output from [http://www.xdebug.org/find-binary.php][1] to put the proper binary on the machine. I have modified all `php.ini` files I could find (in both the `php5/apache2` and `php5/cli` directories) to include these lines:

    zend_extension=&quot;/usr/lib/php5/20090626+lfs/xdebug.so&quot;
    xdebug.remote_enable=1
    xdebug.remote_handler=dbgp
    xdebug.remote_host=localhost
    xdebug.remote_port=9000

If I check the `phpinfo.php` web page, it says:

So Xdebug does seem to be installed properly. Still, when I try debugging in NetBeans, I get the endless status bar message *Waiting For Connection (netbeans-xdebug)*. When I hit the stop button I get *No connection from xdebug was detected within X seconds. The reason could be that xdebug is not installed or not properly configured*.

Maybe I&#39;m confusing local settings with server settings here? [A post][2] said `xdebug.remote_host` should be set to the *IP of the machine running NetBeans*, but I want a team to be able to debug using machines with different IP addresses. A problem could be port 9000, but I have checked that it is not blocked.

Any help that could clarify this would be appreciated!
