When changing startup project for the solution from project A (initial startup) to project B (newly added project) the change of the startup project does not appear to be saved. 

When running F5 VS always change back to original setting of project A. 

I have checked the settings and also options build and run (for new solutions use the currently selected project as startup project) is not checked.

I have tried to delete the .suo file and so far no luck so any other ideas whats going on ?

I would like to configure logback to do the following.

 - Log to a file
 - Roll the file when it reaches 50MB
 - Only keep 7 days worth of logs
 - On startup always generate a new file (do a roll)

I have it all working except for the last item, startup roll.  Does anyone know how to achieve that?  Here&#39;s the config...

How to roll the log file on startup in logback

Reading over the [documentation for ASP.NET Core][1], there are two methods singled out for Startup:  Configure and ConfigureServices.

Neither of these seemed like a good place to put custom code that I would like to run at startup.  Perhaps I want to add a custom field to my DB if it doesn&#39;t exist, check for a specific file, seed some data into my database, etc.   Code that I want to run once, just at app start.

Is there a preferred/recommended approach for going about doing this?

Application startup code in ASP.NET Core

So what changes do I have to make and to what files to have my app start automatically when Android finishes booting up?

I have a use case where I need to call a (non-static) method in the bean only-once at the ApplicationContext load up. Is it ok, if I use MethodInvokingFactoryBean for this? Or we have a some better solution?

I have a Spring Boot application. I&#39;ve added a lot of dependencies (unfortunately, looks I need all of them) and the startup time went up quite a lot. Just doing a `SpringApplication.run(source, args)` takes 10 seconds. 

While that might not be much compared to what are &quot;used&quot; to, I&#39;m unhappy that it takes that much, mostly because it breaks the development flow. The application itself is rather small at this point, so I assume most of the time is related to the added dependencies, not the app classes themselves.

I assume the issue is classpath scanning, but I am not sure how to:

- Confirm that is the issue (i.e. how to &quot;debug&quot; Spring Boot)
- If it really is the cause, how can I limit it, so it gets faster? For example, if I know that some dependency or package does not contain anything that Spring should be scanning, is there a way to limit that? 

I assume that [enhancing Spring to have parallel bean initialization during startup](https://jira.spring.io/browse/SPR-8767) would speed up things, but that enhancement request has been open since 2011, without any progress. I see some other efforts in Spring Boot itself, such as [Investigate Tomcat JarScanning speed improvements](https://github.com/spring-projects/spring-boot/issues/1610), but that is Tomcat specific and has been abandoned.

Speed up Spring Boot startup time

Both Google and Stackoverflow have shown me people with similar issues however this error is slightly different in that the IP address is suffixed with an asterisk:&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

NetBeans 8.0.1 is giving me the following error when trying to start Tomcat.&lt;br&gt;

&#39;127.0.0.1*&#39; is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

I&#39;ve got both Tomcat 7.0.56 and Tomcat 8.0.14 installed, they both start OK from the command line (one at a time). I have them added to NetBeans&#39; list of servers as Tomcat 7 and Tomcat 8.&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;

I have a &quot;Hello World&quot; web app which I have configured:&lt;br&gt;
Properties -&gt; Run -&gt; Server: tried both Tomcat 7 and Tomcat 8&lt;br&gt;
Both give the same error.

If I try starting Tomcat using either:&lt;br&gt;
Services -&gt; Servers -&gt; Tomcat 7 -&gt; Start&lt;br&gt;

I learned from my colleague that one can write and execute a C program without writing a `main()` function. It can be done like this:

The response to this is as follows when I try to run elasticsearch.bat on my windows machine:

I created my own parental control app to monitor my kids activity. The app&#39;s only GUI is a task bar icon. The program is installed as admin. I&#39;d like this program to be started up automatically as admin user on Windows startup, so that standard users cannot kill it from task manager. 

I can create a registry key at:

    HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

to make it run automatically when Windows starts up. The problem is that the program is started as the logged in (standard) user.

How can I make it run in an elevated mode? Is this possible at all in Win7?

I made an application that launches during startup, with the next code below.  
The process runs on the process manager tool after the restart, but I can&#39;t see
the application on the screen.
When I open the same .exe file from the startup registry value the program runs perfect.

How to run a C# application at Windows startup?

I am trying to run some java files in a new project. So I make the project, put the files in it and I try to run the main file so my game starts. 

I get an error that says `selection does not contain a main type`.

I have tried several ways to run it:

 - Some say to launch eclipse again, tried this a dozen times. 
 - Somewhere else someone pointed to open a new project and make a build path to the old project. 

Didn&#39;t work either. 

I am pretty sure it must work because I ran it a few hours ago at school. How do I get this working?  Thank you in advance!

UPDATE: I&#39;m particularly concerned with the use case of small utilities chained together as is common in Unix. Is Java now suitable for this style? Whatever startup overhead Java incurs, does it add up for every Java process, or does the overhead only really manifest for the first process?

I just append

What&#39;s a simple way to get a Perl script to run as a daemon in linux?

Currently, this is on CentOS. I&#39;d want it to start up with the system and shutdown with the system, so some `/etc/rc.d/init.d` integration would also be nice, but I could always add a custom line to `/etc/rc.d/rc.local`.
