Using storyboard this is very easy. You just drag the action to &quot;Exit&quot;. But how should I call it from my code?

Now if the user taps on a cell, I would like to push him back to the previous page.

I thought about something like `self.performSegue(&quot;back&quot;)....` but this seems to be a bad idea.

I&#39;m creating an app that uses the Facebook SDK to authenticate users. I&#39;m trying to consolidate the facebook logic in a separate class. Here is the code (stripped for simplicity):

I&#39;m using the above class method to check session state changes, and it works fine.

**Q:** Once I have the user&#39;s data, how can I segue to the next view from within this custom class?

Just to be clear, I have a segue with identifier on the storyboard, and I&#39;m trying to find a way to perform a segue from a class which is not the view controller

How to segue programmatically in iOS using Swift

I have a common `UIViewController` that all my `UIViewsControllers` extend to reuse some common operations.

I want to set up a segue on this &quot;Common&quot; `UIViewController` so that all the other `UIViewControllers` inherit. 

I am trying to figure out how do I do that programmatically.

I guess that the question could also be how do I set a `segue` for all my `UIViewControllers` without going into the story board and do them by hand.

Creating a segue programmatically

in my app I&#39;ve a button that performs a segue programmatically:

I would like to know if there is a way to reference the destination view and to pass it some parameters.

I know that in `prepareForSegue` method, I can refer to it with:`myDestinationViewController *vc = [segue destinationViewController];`, but I don&#39;t know how to this executing the segue programmatically.

Do you have any ideas?

UPDATE:

I&#39;m sorry for this question!!! I simply discovered that, even if the segue is invoked programmatically, the `prepareForSegue` method is called anyway and so it is possible to pass parameters in the same usual way.

Perform Segue programmatically and pass parameters to the destination view

I have a storyboard set up with working login and main view controller, the latter is the view controller to which the user is navigated to when login is successful.
My objective is to show the main view controller immediately if the authentication (stored in keychain) is successful, and show the login view controller if the authentication failed.
Basically, I want to do this in my AppDelegate:

    // url request &amp; response work fine, assume success is a BOOL here
    // that indicates whether login was successful or not

    if (success) {
              // &#39;push&#39; main view controller
    } else {
              // &#39;push&#39; login view controller
    }

I know about the method performSegueWithIdentifier: but this method is an instance method of UIViewController, so not callable from within AppDelegate.
How do I do this using my existing storyboard ??

The Storyboard&#39;s initial view controller now is a navigation controller which isn&#39;t connected to anything. I used the setRootViewController: distinction because MainIdentifier is a UITabBarController. Then this is what my lines look like:

Conditionally start at different places in storyboard from AppDelegate

I am using presentViewController to present new screen 

    let dashboardWorkout = DashboardWorkoutViewController()
    presentViewController(dashboardWorkout, animated: true, completion: nil)

This presents new screen from bottom to top but I want it to presented from right to left without using `UINavigationController`. 

I am using Xib instead of storyboard so how can I do that ?

When I am navigating back &amp; forth between parent and child controllers in a master - detail navigation controller, i see a dark shadow on the right side of navigation bar at top. It started after I upgraded to Xcode 5.1. It feels rough and distracting. How can  I get rid of it?

I am using normal storyboarding and push segues in xcode, but I want to have segues that just appear the next view, not slide the next view (as in when you use a tab bar and the next view just appears).

Is there a nice simple way to have normal push segues just &quot;appear&quot; and not &quot;slide&quot;, without needing to add custom segues?

Everything is working completely fine, I just want to remove that slide animation between the views.

Push segue in xcode with no animation

I am trying to make a mechanism to drill down a file / folder list. The idea is to show the same file list view controller every time the user selects a folder, and show a file detail view controller if he/she selects a file.

So far, I have created a segue from the file list view controller to the file detail view controller, and a segue from the file list table view cell to the the file list table view controller:

The issue with this is that as soon as the user taps the cell, the segue is executed. I would like to remove the segue from the table view cell and make one from the file list view controller to itself. That way, I could trigger the right segue programmatically when the user tapped the cell.

So, my question is: Is it possible to create a segue from a view controller to itself in Interface Builder?

Storyboard Segue From View Controller to Itself

I currently have a login View and an Application view, I have successfully implemented validation on the login view and I need to programmatically shift to the application view on successful validation. 

I understand I can add a **segue** to the login button and then call it programmatically like so...

    [self performSegueWithIdentifier:@&quot;LoginSegue&quot; sender:sender];

But this will obviously be triggered whenever the button is clicked (As the segue was created attached to the button). I&#39;ve just read that I should create a button (And hide it) and then make a programmatic call to the segue - this seems a bit &#39;wrong&#39;.

How can a create a segue that isn&#39;t attached to any particular UI event?

I have [a small iPhone app][1], which uses a navigation controller to display 3 views (here [fullscreen][2]):

First it displays a list of social networks (Facebook, Google+, etc.):

Then it displays an OAuth dialog asking for credentials:

And (after that, in same `UIWebView`) for permissions:

Finally it displays the last view controller with user details (in the real app this will be the menu, where the multiplayer game can be started):

This all works well, but I have a problem, when the user wants to go back and select another social network:

The user touches the back button and instead of being displayed the first view, is displayed the second one, asking for OAuth credentials/permissions again.

What can I do here? Xcode 5.0.2 shows a very limited choice for segues - **push**, **modal** (which I can&#39;t use, because it obscures navigation bar needed for my game) and **custom**.

I am an iOS programming newbie, but earlier I have developed an [Adobe AIR mobile app][8] and there it was possible to 1) replace view instead of pushing and 2) remove an unneeded view from navigation stack.

How to do the same in a native app please?

Instead of push segue how to replace view controller (or remove from navigation stack)?

One of my segues transitions from a view controller to a tableview controller. I want to pass an array between the two, but with a navigation controller before the tableview controller, I can&#39;t figure out how to pass the array. How do you pass data through a navigatiom controller to a tableview controller?

I have a list of effects in a table view. I have created a top right bar button which does a push segue to another view controller which helps create a new effect. Now I want to add push segues to the table view cells so that the effects values maybe loaded on the add effects view controller and I can save the edited values.

The question is can I create a push segue programmatically? If not can I pass the effect through a `prepareforsegue`? If I try to use a `prepareforsegue`, I run into a problem where control dragging from the `UITableView` does not let me create a push segue to the add effects view controller.

How to make a push segue when a UITableViewCell is selected

so I&#39;m making an app with 5 view controllers, the first is embedded in a UINavigationController and the segue between the first 4 view controllers works fine. However introducing a 5th View Controller has broken this, and I&#39;m getting the error

    Terminating app due to uncaught exception &#39;NSGenericException&#39;, reason: &#39;Push segues can only be used when the source controller is managed by an instance of UINavigationController.&#39;

I havent done anything differently with this 5th view controller, its just a standard ViewController with an image view and a label, and all of my segues are called by ctrl dragging buttons in the storyboard.  Does anybody have any idea whats causing this?

Can someone more knowledgeable than I explain `performSegueWithIdentifier:sender:` for me? I need to switch views (and classes) and also carry a few NSStrings and IDs over to that view&#39;s class. I was wondering if this is possible with `performSegueWithIdentifier:sender:`

Understanding performSegueWithIdentifier

Is there a way to have a single ContainerView with multiple embed segues? The aim is for a ContainerView to hold a few different ViewControllers depending on what buttons have been pressed; only one is going to be visible at a time. I want to use embed segues so that in Interface Builder the storyboards are automatically shown at the same size as the ContainerView.

I realise that I can manually resize the other ViewControllers in InterfaceBuilder, but I want the automatic sizing provided by the embed segue. If another way of doing that is available, that would be fine too. Not having the views load on viewDidLoad is fine - as mentioned earlier, the shown ViewController can change depending on the buttons pressed.
