I don&#39;t use Android Studio but I build everything from the command line using `build.gradle`. I generate a Lint report like this:

    ./gradlew lint

This correctly generates a Lint report but it also says this:

    Note: MyActivity.java uses or overrides a deprecated API.
    Note: Recompile with -Xlint:deprecation for details.

This makes me wonder how I can do that? I&#39;ve tried the following:

    ./gradlew lint -Xlint:deprecation

But it doesn&#39;t work. It says:

    Problem configuring task :app:lint from command line.
    Unknown command-line option &#39;-X&#39;.

So how can I pass `-Xlint:deprecation` to Lint via gradle?

I&#39;ve been using JSLint to make me feel bad about my JavaScript. It is great, by the way. There is one check that I don&#39;t quite understand and I&#39;d like your views, please.

What is the last sentance in bold really saying? I think I should be declaring multiple variables like this?

    var foo = 1, bar = 2;

And, is the &quot;wise&quot; part just a programming style to discourage errors down the line or is there more to it than that?

The following JS:

I&#39;ve upgraded to Android Studio 3.1 today, which seems to have added a few more lint checks. One of these lint checks is for one-shot RxJava2 `subscribe()` calls that are not stored in a variable. For example, getting a list of all players from my Room database:

    Single.just(db)
                .subscribeOn(Schedulers.io())
                .subscribe(db -&gt; db.playerDao().getAll());

Results in a big yellow block and this tooltip:

What is the best practice for one-shot Rx calls like this? Should I keep hold of the `Disposable` and `dispose()` on complete? Or should I just `@SuppressLint` and move on?

This only seems to affect RxJava2 (`io.reactivex`), RxJava (`rx`) does not have this lint.

I tried to add the following to the root `build.gradle` file:

As soon as I updated the target **SDK** to **30+** (Android R or later), a lint warning `Missing PendingIntent mutability flag` appeared on my `PendingIntent.FLAG_UPDATE_CURRENT` flag when I want to define `PendingIntent`.

Is it possible to turn off the eslint rule for the whole file? Something such as:

(Analogous to eslint-disable-line.) It happens to me quite often, that in a certain file, I&#39;m breaking a specific rule on many places which is considered OK for that file, but I don&#39;t want to disable the rule for the whole project nor do I want to disable other rules for that specific file.

My question(s):

1. How can it be &quot;not found in default locale&quot; if I am editing the default locale (values\strings.xml)?
2. How can it be a lint translation error if I set `translatable=&quot;false&quot;`? In the values-pl\strings.xml (and values-ru, values-iw folders as well) the strings don&#39;t exist even? it shouldn&#39;t anyway.
3. I can&#39;t seem to understand why I don&#39;t get the error for the Russian string.

I spend my days in vim, currently writing a lot of JavaScript. I&#39;ve been trying to find a way to integrate JSLint or something similar into vim to improve my coding. Has anyone managed to do something like this?

Instead I want to do :

How do I do that?

I have a **System app** that uses system permissions and I have those permissions listed in the manifest. Eclipse gives the following **error** when I try to make a build(command line build works):

&gt;   Permission is only granted to system apps


I&#39;m already aware that my app requires system permissions and it is not a problem for me because my application will be used only on rooted phones. So I want to suppress this error, anyone knows how?

My project already compiles fine on command line, installs, runs etc.. My problem is about eclipse giving an error for a legit manifest file.

I have issues in my app regarding `StrictMode` and added the code snippet that basically disables the `StrictModeHelper`. However, Lint complains about `setThreadPolicy()` now and proposes to either add 

    @SuppressLint &#39;NewApi&#39;

or 

    @TargetApi(Build.VERSION_CODES.GINGERBREAD)

to the `onCreate()` event of the view.

Which method is prefered ..or are they basically doing the same?

What is better: @SuppressLint or @TargetApi?

I&#39;ve been trying to find a Java linter capable of running on the CLI that is separate from Eclipse that I can call as a commit hook for git or from our automated build script. Does such a thing exist?

Ideally it needs to check for unused imports and variables, that style guidelines are followed, exceptions are used properly, etc. Though some subset of those features would be better that what we have now - nothing!

Is there a simple CLI Java linter?

So I am using eslint as a linter for my react project and I would like it to check all of my `.js` files.

I am able to do this through the script:

how can I get it to examine every `.js` file recursively, something like:

To be honest `go` has spoiled me. With `go` I got used to having a strict formatting standard that is being enforced by my editor (vim) and is almost accepted and followed by everybody else on the team and around the world.

I am new to [ESLint][1], and I have successfully integrated ESLint with [IntelliJ][2].

Out of the box, my integration of ESLint did not recognize `node`, but basic review of documentation made clear that by creating the configuration file named `.eslintrc` at the root of my project folder (with the proper IntelliJ setting to access this file) and setting `&quot;node&quot;:true`, ESLint recognizes `node` (i.e., the following complete `.eslintrc` works).

In particular, I found a possible hint [here][4], where it suggested to add `&quot;amd&quot;:false` in (I presumed) the `.eslintrc` file - but no go.

This seems basic.  How can I get `.eslintrc` to recognize `require()`?

How to set .eslintrc to recognize &#39;require&#39;?

Hey everyone I got a linting error and I am not sure what it is talking about, this is the error:

I have read the link it gives and I get what it tries to tell me ( atleast I think so :) ) but I can&#39;t see how it applies in this case.
