I am using grep recursive to search files for a string, and all the matched files and the lines containing that string are print on the terminal. But is it possible to get the line numbers of those lines too??

ex: presently what I get is `/var/www/file.php: $options = &quot;this.target&quot;`, but what I am trying to get is `/var/www/file.php: 1142 $options = &quot;this.target&quot;;`, well where `1142` would be the line number containing that string.

Syntax I am using to grep recursively is `sudo grep -r &#39;pattern&#39; &#39;/var/www/file.php&#39;`

One more question is, how do we get results for not equal to a pattern. Like all the files but not the ones having a certain string?

The function reads the file correctly, and using printf I see that the constLine string did get read correctly as well.

However, if I use the function e.g. like this:

printf outputs gibberish. Why?

I understand that the processor brings data into the cache via cache lines, which - for instance, on my Atom processor - brings in about 64 bytes at a time, whatever the size of the actual data being read.

My question is:

Imagine that you need to read one byte from memory, which 64 bytes will be brought into the cache?

The two possibilities I can see is that, either the 64 bytes start at the closest 64 bytes boundary below the byte of interest, or the 64 bytes are spread around the byte in some predetermined way (for instance, half under, half above, or all above).

I am trying to add a line break in the TextView.

I tried suggested \n but that does nothing. Here is how I set my texts.

    TextView txtSubTitle = (TextView)findViewById(r.id.txtSubTitle);
    txtSubTitle.setText(Html.fromHtml(getResources().getString(R.string.sample_string)));
	   

This is my String: `&lt;string name=&quot;sample_string&quot;&gt;some test line 1 \n some test line 2&lt;/string&gt;`

It should show like so:

But it shows like so: `some test line 1 some test line 2`.

Am I missing something?

I have a set of data records like this:

    (s1, t1), (u1, v1), color1
    (s2, t2), (u2, v2), color2
    .
    .
    .
    (sN, tN), (uN, vN), colorN

In any record, the first two values are the **end-points** of a line segment, the third value is the **color** of that line segment. More specifically, &lt;code&gt;(sn, tn)&lt;/code&gt; are the x-y coordinates of the first end-point, &lt;code&gt;(un, vn)&lt;/code&gt; are the x-y coordinates of the second-endpoint. Also, **color** is an rgb with alpha value.

In general, any two line segments are **disconnected** (meaning that their end-points do not necessarily coincide).

How to plot this data using **matplotlib** with a single `plot` call (or as few as possible) as there could be potentially thousands of records.

# Attempts

Preparing the data in one big list and calling `plot` against it is way too slow. For example the following code couldn&#39;t finish in a reasonable amount of time:

How would I get the content of the second line using php?
This returns the first line:

I am trying to read some text files, where each line needs to be processed. At the moment I am just using a StreamReader, and then reading each line individually.

I am wondering whether there is a more efficient way (in terms of LoC and readability) to do this using LINQ without compromising operational efficiency. The examples I have seen involve loading the whole file into memory, and then processing it. In this case however I don&#39;t believe that would be very efficient. In the first example the files can get up to about 50k, and in the second example, not all lines of the file need to be read (sizes are typically &lt; 10k).

You could argue that nowadays it doesn&#39;t really matter for these small files, however I believe that sort of the approach leads to inefficient code.

First example:

I have a number of very large text files which I need to process, the largest being about 60GB. 

Each line has 54 characters in seven fields and I want to remove the last three characters from each of the first three fields - which should reduce the file size by about 20%.

I am brand new to Python and have a code which will do what I want to do at about 3.4 GB per hour, but to be a worthwhile exercise I really need to be getting at least 10 GB/hr - is there any way to speed this up? Any help would be really appreciated. I am using the IDLE Python GUI on Windows 7 and have 16GB of memory - perhaps a different OS would be more efficient?.

Process very large (&gt;20GB) text file line by line

    &lt;textarea&gt; put returns between paragraphs
    for linebreak add 2 spaces at end
    indent code by 4 spaces
    quote by placing &gt; at start of line
    &lt;/textarea&gt;

    $text = value from this textarea;

**How to:**

 **1) Get each line from this textarea (`$text`) and work with them using `foreach()`?**

 **2) Add `&lt;br /&gt;` to the end of each line, except the last one?**

 **3) Throw each line to an array.**

**Important** - text inside textarea can be multilanguage.

    $text = str_replace(&#39;\n&#39;, &#39;&lt;br /&gt;&#39;, $text);

But it doesn&#39;t work.

Get each line from textarea

Here is my problem: Any number of lines of text is given from standard input.
Output: number of non repeating lines

**INPUT:**

    She is wearing black shoes.
    My name is Johny.
    I hate mondays.
    My name is Johny.
    I don&#39;t understand you.
    She is wearing black shoes.

**OUTPUT:**

    2



Number of non repeating lines - unique count

If I have an array of strings e.g.

    a = [&#39;a&#39;, &#39;b&#39;, &#39;c&#39;, &#39;d&#39;]

and I want to output the elements, to a file (e.g. .txt) one per line. So far I have:

    File.new(&quot;test.txt&quot;, &quot;w+&quot;)
    File.open(&quot;test.txt&quot;, &quot;w+&quot;) do |i|
	    i.write(a)
    end

This gives me the array on one line of the test.txt file.
How can I iterate over the array, adding each value to a new line of the file?
