`DATE_FORMAT()` is used to format date, but not the other way around.

Javascript definitely isn&#39;t my strongest point. I&#39;ve been attempting this for a couple of hours now and seem to be getting stuck with date formatting somewhere.

I have a form where a user selected a date (dd/mm/yyyy) and then this date will be taken and 2 weeks will be added to it and then date will be copied to another form field.

My latest attempt below isn&#39;t even adding a date yet just copying the selected date in one form field to another, if I select &#39;03/02/2012&#39;, it outputs &#39;Fri Mar 02 2012 00:00:00 GMT+0000 (GMT Standard Time)&#39;, so its outputting in American format as well as the full date. How to I get it to out put in the same format and add 2 weeks?

What is an easy way to check if a value is a valid date, any known date format allowed. 

For example I have the values `10-11-2009`, `10/11/2009`, `2009-11-10T07:00:00+0000` which should all be recognized as date values, and the values `200`, `10`, `350`, which should not be recognized as a date value. What is the simplest way to check this, if this is even possible? Because timestamps would also be allowed.

I have SimpleDateFormat constructor as

I have read that here Z represents the `GMT/UTC` timezone. but when I print this date on console , It prints IST timezne for the returned date.

How to format date in angularjs

Everybody cautions regarding Java DateFormat not being thread safe and I understand the concept theoretically.

But I&#39;m not able to visualize what actual issues we can face due to this. Say, I&#39;ve a DateFormat field in a class and the same is used in different methods in the class (formatting dates) in a multi-threaded environment.

Will this cause:

- any exception like format exception
- discrepancy in data
- any other issue?

That returns:

I&#39;m trying to check that dates entered by end users are in the YYYY-MM-DD. Regex has never been my strong point, I keep getting a false return value for the preg_match() I have setup.

Change date format in a Java string

Is there an equivalent to php date() style formatting in Java? I mean, in php I can backslash-escape characters to have them treated literally. I.e. **yyyy \y\e\a\r** would become **2010 year**. I did not find anything similar in Java, all examples deal only with built-in date formats. 

In particular, I deal with [JCalendar][1] date pickers and their **dateFormatString** property.

I need it because in my locale it is required to write all sorts of additional stuff in date format, like d. (for day) after days part, m. (for years) after years part and so on. At the worst case I could use string replace or regexp but maybe there&#39;s a simpler way? Thanks in advance!

I have a `java.util.Date` in the format `yyyy-mm-dd`. I want it to be in the format `mm-dd-yyyy`

Below is the sample util I tried out for this conversion:

How do you globally set the date format in ASP.NET?

My local machine and servers have Regional Settings set to &quot;English (New Zealand)&quot;.

When I format a date with `dd/MM/yyyy` I expect to see `19/11/2008` for today for example.

Until recently, that is what I did in fact get from both my local machine and the servers.

Just recently, for some mysterious reason, our local machines have changed ever so slightly.  Despite still be set to &quot;English (New Zealand)&quot;, the date delimter has changed from `/` to `-`!  The same change has not occurred on the servers which still show &quot;English (New Zealand)&quot; and the `/` for the date delimter.

So now for my local machine, for the format `dd/MM/yyyy` I get `19-11-2008` instead of `19/11/2008`.

This is a little disconcerting.

The only way around it that I can see so far is to escape the slashes and set the format to `dd\/MM\/yyyy`.  It seems to work, but it doesn&#39;t seem to be the ideal solution.

Can anyone please help?
