I&#39;ve compiled Trebuchet launcher from CyanogenMod 9, and trying to install it with adb:

    $ adb install out/target/product/generic/system/app/Trebuchet.apk

I tried on Nexus S with CM9 and Galaxy Nexus with stock JB. Why I&#39;m getting this error?

**EDIT:** In my case I&#39;ve tried to reinstall **system** package with package manager. That&#39;s not supported, so I&#39;ve got this error. Source of the error may differ in your case.

INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE when I try to install compiled .apk on device

I&#39;ve been scouring the interwebs (e.g. Android documentation, answers here, etc.) for the answer to what I thought would be a fairly trivial question. How do you achieve a translucent action bar like the ones in [Google Music](http://coreylatislaw.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/google-music.png) and [YouTube](http://coreylatislaw.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/youtube.png) (links are image examples)?

I want video content to be full screen and not constrained/pushed down by the action bar while still leveraging the benefits of a built in UI component. I can obviously use a completely custom view, but I&#39;d rather leverage the ActionBar if possible.

Custom Translucent Android ActionBar

I wanted to know the difference between **android-support-v4.jar**
and **android-support-v7-appcompat.jar**. If I want to add appcompat Action Bar in my application do I need to add both *android-support-v7-appcompat.jar* and *android-support-v4.jar* or only *android-support-v7-appcompat.jar*.

Also, does *android-support-v13.jar* has appcompat?

I&#39;m trying to add support for the `SearchView` in the Android 3.0+ ActionBar, but I can&#39;t get the `OnCloseListener` to work.

Here&#39;s my code:

My question is, why is the onCreateView and onActivityCreated called twice? The first time with a Bundle with the saved state and the second time with a null savedInstanceState? 

This is causing problems with retaining the state of the fragment on rotation.

At the moment, referencing `Holo.Light` works fine on 3.0+, but older APIs simply revert to the default &#39;dark&#39; theme. Can I achieve what I want with with style inheritance?

I&#39;m doing a calculator.
So I made my own `Buttons` with numbers and functions.
The expression that has to be calculated, is in an `EditText`, because I want users can add numbers or functions also in the middle of the expression, so with the `EditText` I have the `cursor`. But I want to disable the `Keyboard` when users click on the `EditText`.
I found this example that it&#39;s ok for `Android 2.3`, but with `ICS` disable the `Keyboard` and also the cursor.

Disable keyboard on EditText

Does anyone have access to a list of the default colours used in the Holo them (light and dark) on Android 4.0?

I&#39;m looking for things like list backgrounds, primary and secondary text, ActionBar, etc.

Google gives some examples at the [Themes](http://developer.android.com/design/style/themes.html) and [Color](http://developer.android.com/design/style/color.html) style guidelines, but they don&#39;t really go into the actual color values being used. I can grab them from the images, but I’d rather use something a little more accurate.

What are the default color values for the Holo theme on Android 4.0?

I have a working tablet application which I am now trying to make work on phones too.
On a table there is two fragments on the screen a list fragment and a details fragment.
When on a phone the list fragment appears and creates a new activity when a list item is pressed.
This activity simply creates the fragment in the `onCreate()` method and commits it to the screen as follows.

`getView()` is returning null when the application is ran on a phone where there is only a single fragment shown. 

Any ideas? Unfortunately, there is not many fragment examples available online.

getView returning null when fragment has been created from an activity

I&#39;m trying to use the new notifications interface. I&#39;ve added 3 buttons to the notifications, and I want to save something to my database once each of them is clicked.

The notification itself works well and is shown when called, I just don&#39;t know how to capture each of the three different button clicks.

I&#39;m using a `BroadcastReceiver` to catch the clicks, but I don&#39;t know how to tell which button was clicked.

I&#39;ve registered the `BroadcastReceiver` in the Manifest.
Also, I want to mention that the `BroadcastReceiver` is called when I click one of the buttons in the notification, but the intent always includes an extra of &#39;2&#39;.

Determine addAction click for Android notifications

I am trying to use the new api&#39;s from google, specifically the action bar.  

When the build was set at api 10, if I pressed the menu button, I got nice looking menu options, each with a picture and icon.  When using api 14, No matter what I try, it always puts the icon in the action bar with NO text.  I have tried everything I can think of.  I gave it the &quot;with text&quot; property, changed the text to a single character (in case it was a room issue), but nothing.  

I have seen this done before, even in the developer guide at android.developer, but I can&#39;t seem to find an answer as to HOW to get it to show up.


android 4.0, text on the action bar NEVER shows

I am trying to check to see whether the android navigation bar is present on load so that I can adjust a layout accordingly, does anyone have any suggestions?
