Actually it was not.

It is a feature of the [Productivity Power Tools][1] extension. That extension is now just an installer for separate single feature extensions. I think you&#39;ll be wanting [Match Margin][2].

For [Visual Studio 2022 Match Margin][3] is also available.

Right now, the only way I know (without installing new extensions) is to select (double click) the word and hit ctrl-f (find). Scroll map should highlight all occurences (mine are orange)

There&#39;s another extension which does exactly this, with options to customize colors and more. it called **Word Highlight With Margin**.

I&#39;ve read many things about react-router v4 and the npm history library to this point, but none seems to be helping me.  

My code is functioning as expected up to the point when it should navigate and do a simple redirect when the url is changed using the history.push() method.  The URL IS changing to the specified route, but not doing the redirect on the button push.  Thanks in advance, still learning react-router...    

I would like for the button push to do a simple redirect without the {forceRefresh:true}, which then reloads the whole page.

React history.push() is updating url but not navigating to it in browser

Visual Studio 2017 &amp; 2019 highlight occurrences of selected word in scrollbar

When I mark a word (of any kind) I would like all occurrences (in that particular file) of that word to be highlighted in the scrollbar on the right hand side.

Our client have recently upgrade the security protocol to TLS 1.2. Therefore We have our application upgraded to 4.6.1 expecting the security protocol will be default to TLS 1.2 but it is not. Any idea why?

I was reading up on async/await and when `Task.Yield` might be useful and came across [this post.][1]  I had a question regarding the below from that post:

This is a little unclear to me probably because the definition of asynchronous in my head is not lining up.

In my mind, since I do mainly UI dev, async code is code that does not run on the UI thread, but on some other thread.  I guess in the text I quoted, a method is not truly async if it blocks on any thread (even if it&#39;s a thread pool thread for example).

**Question:**

If I have a long running task that is CPU bound (let&#39;s say it is doing a lot of hard math), then running that task asynchronously must be blocking some thread right?  Something has to actually do the math.  If I await it then some thread is getting blocked.

What is an example of a truly asynchronous method and how would they actually work?  Are those limited to I/O operations which take advantage of some hardware capabilities so no thread is ever blocked?

I have a .NET Standard 1.4 class library that references the System.ComponentModel.Annotations (4.3.0) NuGet package.

I&#39;m then referencing this class library from a .NET Framework 4.6.2 test project. It builds fine, but at runtime I get the following error:

Am I missing something here? Is this a known bug, if so is there a work around?

VS 2017&#39;s new &quot;Go to All&quot; (Ctrl + T or Ctrl + ,) does not lists items for me.

Searched for a setting for it, no luck. Also no error messages regarding this at all. Any ideas?

   I am trying to start a new project using .NET 4.7.  I have Creators Update installed as well as the latest version of Visual Studio 2017.  When I start a project and device to choose a .NET version, the latest .NET framework version I have is 4.6.2.  When I go to download a new .NET framework, it only lists 4.6.2 as the latest via MS that you can download.  It says that .NET 4.7 is included in VS 2017.  What am I missing?

I am looking for Spy++. I believe it should be included in Visual Studio 2017 since the latest Visual Studio help content references it:

I experimented a little bit further and this seems to be a feature of Google Chrome. It highlights text on the page if you append `#:~:text=something` to the URL. https://example.com/#:~:text=domain seems to work fine, but only on Chrome (Chrome Beta on the left, Firefox on the right).

What exactly is the `#:~:text=` location hash in an URL?

ESlint static intellisense doesn&#39;t seem to be supported in Visual Studio 2017 which makes coding in .js files a complete pain as I have to run the CMD eslint command to get any linting errors. In VSCode I can just use the ESLint extension. What about Visual studio 2017?

I have just converted my PCL library to a new .Net Standard library and I have some Yellow Warning triangles on my Dependencies shown below:

What do Yellow Warning Triangles mean on Dependencies in Visual Studio 2017?

According to the [C# 8 announcement video][1] the &quot;nullable reference types&quot; feature can be enabled for the whole project.

But how to enable it for the project? I did not find any new appropriate option in the Project Properties window in Visual Studio 2019 Preview 1.

Can it be enabled for &#39;legacy&#39; `.csproj` projects if the C# language version is changed to 8.0?

How to enable Nullable Reference Types feature of C# 8.0 for the whole project

I want to test the new Blazor server-side framework (aka Razor Components).

I installed Visual Studio 2019 RC, and then the .Net Core 3.0 preview 2, following [this official tutorial][1].

After the install, I only see the ASP.NET Core 2.0 and the 2.1 on the &quot;Create a new ASP.NET Core Web Application&quot; page. The 3.0 is not showing up.

I started to mess around, trying to install other packages from [this page][2], uninstalled and reinstalled Visual Studio 2019, updated to the .NET Core Preview 3, installed several times the x64 and x86 packages in different orders, copy/paste the .Net Core binaries to random folders and so on. Nothing works. The ASP.NET Core 3.0 does not show up.

Here is what my VS looks like when creating a project (the yellow message appeared latter after some messing around with the packages, so it is not the real problem):

ASP.NET Core 3.0 not showing on Visual Studio 2019

VS 2019 is RTM, and I was wondering what&#39;s the proper way to upgrade from VS 2017, is there a dedicated &#39;upgrade&#39; method, or is it uninstall and install? Maybe install and uninstall?  
What&#39;s the right way to do it without having to uninstall and reinstall same stuff for nothing?
