OK I found it, needed to add `--recursive` when cloning the repo.

So the clone command ends up as:

    git clone https://github.com/aikiframework/json.git --recursive

Note that if you forgot the `--recursive` flag you can do (thanks to @Amber):

    git submodule update --init

The basic algorithm for BFS:

    set start vertex to visited
    
    load it into queue
        
    while queue not empty
        
       for each edge incident to vertex
                  
            if its not visited
                
                load into queue
                      
                mark vertex


So I would think the time complexity would be:  

    v1 + (incident edges) + v2 + (incident edges) + .... + vn + (incident edges) 


where `v` is vertex `1` to `n`


Firstly, is what I&#39;ve said correct?  Secondly, how is this `O(N + E)`, and intuition as to why would be really nice.  Thanks

The solution above works but the background property of the style attribute is unfortunately not a standard one : http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG/styling.html#SVGStylingProperties, and so it gets removed during the cleaning process with SVG Cleaner.

Is there another way to declare this background color?

I have one repo hosted at https://github.com/aikiframework/json . On my local copy, I added a submodule using the command

    git submodule add git@github.com:jcubic/json-rpc.git json-rpc

Then I did a commit and push, and the changes appear on GitHub (I can click on it). But when I clone the repo

    git clone https://github.com/aikiframework/json.git

the submodule folder json-rpc is empty.

What am I missing here? Did I forget about something? Why is that folder empty?

Trying to do a make install of git from source, and it keep kicking up the error:

No amount of Googling has turned up anything on lib.intl.h. What is this elusive library, and how can I get it so I can finally install git?

After `git reset --hard`, `git status` gives me files within the `Changes not staged for commit:` section.

I&#39;ve also tried `git reset .`, `git checkout -- .` and `git checkout-index -f -a`, to no avail.

So, how can I get rid of those unstaged changes?

Unstaged changes left after git reset --hard

With Git/Github for Windows, if I have a repository with this directory: `C:\dir1\dir2`, what do I need to do to move the repo files to `C:\dir1`?  I can obviously physically copy and paste the files, but what do I need to do on the Git side?

I have this repo on GitHub and I use Git Bash and GitHub for Windows.

Whenever I try to push into my repo git asks for both `username &amp; password`. 

I have no problem in re-entering my password each time but the problem is in entering username. I use `https` to clone my repository.

So, how can I configure git so that it doesn&#39;t asks for `username` on each `git push`.

I am new to linux but IIRC in windows `git push` only asks for password.

I keep important settings like the hostnames and ports of development and production servers in my version control system. But I know that it&#39;s _bad practice_ to keep *secrets* (like private keys and database passwords) in a VCS repository.

But passwords--like any other setting--seem like they should be versioned. So what *is* the proper way to keep passwords version controlled?

I imagine it would involve keeping the *secrets* in their own &quot;secrets settings&quot; file and having *that* file encrypted and version controlled. But what technologies? And how to do this properly? Is there a better way entirely to go about it?

I ask the question generally, but in my specific instance I would like to store secret keys and passwords for a *Django/Python* site using *git* and *github*.

Also, an *ideal* solution would do something magical when I push/pull with git--e.g., if the encrypted passwords file changes a script is run which asks for a password and decrypts it into place.

How can I save my secret keys and password securely in my version control system?

I am relatively new to git. Our organization uses a [Fork &amp; Pull Model][1] for managing changes to the master branch. Each developer forks the master and branches from their fork when adding new features. I keep an eye on commits that other developers are making in their own branches, and would sometimes like to merge these changes into my own branch. What steps do I take to accomplish this?

I am attempting to add a few submodules to my `.vim/bundles` directory, and when I attempt to add this particular repo Git gives me a strange error I&#39;ve never seen before:

    $ git submodule add -f git://github.com/derekwyatt/vim-scala.git .vim/bundle/vim-scala
    fatal: You are on a branch yet to be born

Any idea what can cause this?

If I clone the same repo to a test directory (not through the submodule command), it works fine, and creates the expected files.

Quite often it is the case that you&#39;re writing a project of some kind, and after a while it becomes clear that some component of the project is actually useful as a standalone component (a library, perhaps). If you&#39;ve had that idea from early on, then there&#39;s a fair chance that most of that code is in its own folder.

I&#39;ve received two projects sharing some common code. The shared code was just copied into the two projects. I created a separate git repo for the common code and removed it from the projects with the plan to add it as a `git` submodule. 

I used the path option of git submodule add to specify the folder:

but then got the error:

This command works to get the files and compile them:

    git clone a-valid-git-url

for example:

    git clone git://cfdem.git.sourceforge.net/gitroot/cfdem/liggghts

However, `git status` (or any other git command) then gives the above `fatal: Not a git repository (or any of the parent directories)` error.

I am trying to clone a Git repo using a custom SSH command. I set the SSH command in the GIT_SSH environmental variably be running 

`export GIT_SSH=&quot;/usr/bin/ssh -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no -i /home/me/my_private_key&quot;`. 

But when, after the previous command I run 

`git clone git@bitbucket.org:uname/test-git-repo.git`, I get the following weird error

    error: cannot run /usr/bin/ssh -o StrictHostKeyChecking=no -i /home/me/my_private_key
    fatal: unable to fork
