I am detecting if the user has pressed down for 2 seconds:

The text &quot;double oo&quot; gets printed twice when I press down for longer than 2 seconds. Why is this? How can I fix?

In iOS 7 Apple added a new default navigation behavior. You can swipe from the left edge of the screen to go back on the navigation stack. But in my app, this behavior conflicts with my custom left menu. So, is it possible to disable this new gesture in UINavigationController?

In the above code only taps on `view2` are recognized. If I comment out the third line then taps on `view1` are recognized. If I&#39;m right and you can only use a gesture recognizer once, I&#39;m not sure if this is a bug or it just needs some more documentation.

UIGestureRecognizer on UIImageView

I am trying to add 2 `UITapGestureRecognizers` to a view, one for single tap and one for double tap events.  The single tap recognizer is working as expected (on its own).  But I don&#39;t seem to be able to get the double tap recognizer working.

Have tried to experiment with properties like : `cancelsTouchesInView`, `delaysTouchesBegan` and `delaysTouchesEnded` but still doesn&#39;t work.

When I double tap, the single tap recognizer would always be activated and the double tap event would also be sent to the super view.  But the custom double tap recognizer does not seem to be notified at all.

Documentations seem to suggest that the 3 properties mentioned above could be used for the purpose.  But I am just not sure what values should be set and on which recognizer(s) (single, double or both).  Hope somebody familiar with this could help.

UITapGestureRecognizer - single tap and double tap

I have a view that has a `UIPanGestureRecognizer` to drag the view vertically. So in the recognizer callback, I only update the y-coordinate to move it. The superview of this view, has a `UIPanGestureRecognizer` that will drag the view horizontally, just updating the x-coordinate.

The problem is that the first `UIPanGestureRecognizer` is taking the event to move the view vertically, so I can not use the superview gesture. 

I have tried 

    - (BOOL)gestureRecognizer:(UIGestureRecognizer *)gestureRecognizer
     shouldRecognizeSimultaneouslyWithGestureRecognizer:
                                (UIGestureRecognizer *)otherGestureRecognizer;

and both will work, but I don&#39;t want that. I want the horizontally to be detected only if the movement is clearly horizontal. So it would be great if the `UIPanGestureRecognizer` had a direction property. 

How can I achieve this behavior? I find the docs very confusing, so maybe someone can explain it better here.

UIPanGestureRecognizer - Only vertical or horizontal

In my case parent `UIViewController` contains `UIPageViewController` which contains `UINavigationController` which contains `UIViewController`. I need to add a swipe gesture to the last view controller, but swipes are handled as if they belong to page view controller. I tried to do this both programmatically and via xib but with no result.

So as I understand I can&#39;t achieve my goal until `UIPageViewController` handles its gestures. How to solve this issue?

I&#39;ve attached gesture recognizer(s) to my UIView (B). The problem that i&#39;m facing is that i don&#39;t get any actions for the Rounded Rect Button which is inside the UIView (B). The singleTap gesture recognizer captures/overrides the button&#39;s Touch Up Inside event. 

How can i make it work? I thought that the responder chain hierarchy will make sure that the button touch event will be given preference, and it WILL get triggered! What am i missing?

Gesture recognizer and button actions

I love the swipe pack thats inherited from embedding your views in a `UINavigationController`.  Unfortunately i cannot seem to find a way to hide the `NavigationBar` but still have the touch pan swipe back `gesture`.  I can write custom gestures but I prefer not to and to rely on the `UINavigationController` back swipe `gesture` instead.

I&#39;m trying to figure out how this is done *the right way*. I&#39;ve tried to depict the situation:

I&#39;m adding a `UITableView` as a subview of a `UIView`. The `UIView` responds to a tap- and `pinchGestureRecognizer`, but when doing so, the tableview stops reacting to those two gestures (it still reacts to swipes).

I&#39;ve made it work with the following code, but it&#39;s obviously not a nice solution and I&#39;m sure there is a better way. This is put in the `UIView` (the superview):

UIGestureRecognizer blocks subview for handling touch events

I have a `UIPanGestureRecognizer` I am using to track an object (`UIImageView`) below a user&#39;s finger. I only care about motion on the X axis, and if the touch strays above or below the object&#39;s frame on the Y axis I want to end the touch.

I&#39;ve got everything I need for determining if a touch is within the object&#39;s Y bounds, but I don&#39;t know how to cancel the touch event. Flipping the recognizer&#39;s `cancelsTouchesInView` property doesn&#39;t seem to do what I want.

How can I tell a UIGestureRecognizer to cancel an existing touch?

Ok so I have been looking around at just about every option under the sun for capturing multi-touch gestures, and I have finally come full circle and am back at the UIPanGestureRecognizer.

The functionality I want is really quite simple. I have setup a two finger pan gesture, and I want to be able to shuffle through some images depending on how many pixels I move. I have all that worked out okay, but I want to be able to capture if the pan gesture is REVERSED.

Is there a built in way that I&#39;m just not seeing to detect going back on a gesture? Would I have to store my original starting point, then track the end point, then see where they move after that and se if its less than the initial ending point and then reverse accordingly? I can see that working, but I&#39;m hoping there is a more elegant solution!!

How can I capture which direction is being panned using UIPanGestureRecognizer?

I have written Swift code that attempts to remove all gesture recognizers from all subviews of a given custom UIView type.

I have tried changing the `for recognizer` loop to `for recognizer in enumerate(subview.gestureRecognizers)`, but that produces the compiler error:

    Type &#39;[AnyObject]?!&#39; Does not conform to protocol &#39;SequenceType&#39;

I see that UIView&#39;s `gestureRecognizers` method returns `[AnyObject]??`, and I think that the doubly wrapped return values are tripping me up. Can anyone help me?

How to remove all gesture recognizers from a UIView in Swift

I&#39;m new to gesture recognizers so maybe this question sounds silly: I&#39;m assigning tap gesture recognizers to a bunch of UIViews. In the method is it possible to find out which of them was tapped somehow or do I need to find it out using the point that was tapped on screen?

tap gesture recognizer - which object was tapped?

After initialisation of by subclass of `UIImageView` I have the following line of code:

I created the necessary associated function :

GestureRecognizer not responding to tap

I&#39;ve got a view and I applied a UIPanGestureRecogniser to this view:

I can detect and process the gesture just fine. However, I wish to initiate another method once the gesture has ended.

I know there are two methods that allow this kind of detection. `touchesEnded` and `touchesCancelled` however, I&#39;ve found that `touchesCancelled` gets called as soon as the touch becomes a gesture i.e. I move my finger enough to warrant a gesture call and `touchesEnded` rarely, if ever, gets called.

I want to be able to pan left / right and then initiate another function call upon gesture ending. How do I do this?

I am working on an iphone (iOS 4.0 or later) app and having some troubles with touch handling between multiple views. I am having a view structure like this

 Basically I have a superView, and sibling subviews A and B. B has the same frame as A, hence hiding A completely. 

 Now my requirement is this. 
  

 1. **SubView B should receive all swipe and tap (single and double)
    gestures.**
 2. **SubView A should receive all pinch gestures.**

This is how I added gesture recognizers to the views

I did some research and to me `UIGestureRecognizerDelegate` looked promising and I implemented the delegate method

I returned NO for SubView B, hoping that underlying view will get these event. No such luck though

Then I disabled user interaction of SubView B inside the delegate callback (commented code in above block), when pinch gesture is recognized, hoping remaining part of gesture will be received by SubView A. No such luck there too.. 

So that is where I stand now. I have seen [this][2] question, where the accepted answer involves property `cancelsTouchesInView`. But I believe `cancelsTouchesInView` only cancel a particular touch event, do not forward it. 

Any other way to achieve my requirement? I am ready to work on whatever hint you provide.

My so called subView A is actually an instance of a 3rd party library&#39;s View class, which takes all touches away and I don&#39;t have any control over any gestures on it. I want different implementation for left and right swipe and I want pinch, tap etc work just like it is working with this third party view. So I put a view on top of A (SubView B) to get left and right swipes. But now I want to forward other gesture events to underlying library.

Forwarding UIGesture to views behind

I have a UIPageViewController load with my Viewcontroller.

The view controllers have buttons which are overridden by the PageViewControllers gesture recognizers.

For example I have a button on the right side of the viewcontroller and when you press the button, the PageViewController takes over and changes the page.

How can I make the button receive the touch and cancel the gesture recognizer in the PageViewController?

I think the PageViewController makes my ViewController a subview of its view.

I know I could turn off all of the Gestures, but this isn&#39;t the effect I&#39;m looking for.

I would *prefer* not to subclass the PageViewController as apple says this class is not meant to be subclassed.

I am trying to add a `UITapGesture` to a UIButton so it will trigger a function when tapped. I am using `Swift 3` and is getting some error:
