After searching literally 1 day on facebook and google for an up-to-date and *working* way to do something seemingly simple:

I am looking for a step-by-step explanation to get offline_access for a user for a facebook app and then using this (session key) to retrieve offline &amp; not within a browser friends &amp; profile data.

Preferrably doing this in the Fb Java API.

I want to develop an Speech recognizer in android, which should work in offline. As the android&#39;s built-in speech recognizer uses google server which needs internet, i want an alternative which works in the absence of internet.

For C#, Visual Studio gives you the option to download and install the entire online documentation as a part of the VS2008 install, so if you have Visual Studio 2008, then you have the C# offline documentation.

How to detect online/offline event cross-browser?

I need an offline installer with most of the utilities commonly needed. Somehow the default installer confuses me with all its package selection. I installed Cygwin but I can&#39;t find the `diff` utility after the installation.


Where can I download an offline installer of Cygwin?

It looks as though Google has made offline speech recognition available from Google Now for third-party apps.  It is being used by [the app named Utter][1].

Has anyone seen any implementations of how to do simple voice commands with this offline speech rec?  Do you just use the regular SpeechRecognizer API and it works automatically?

Offline Speech Recognition In Android (JellyBean)

I am actually new to programming in Java but I have been following several solutions to my problem here but didn&#39;t find one that suits my case and I can&#39;t seem to get the code down correctly.

I would like to have a `WebView` that opens an online page (for example Google) when the phone is online and open a local HTML page when the phone is offline.

At the same time though I want the phone to overwrite the local page when it is online so that the offline local page is always updated to the last time the phone was connected to the internet.

Any ideas on how this could be done?
Some simple pointing to the right direction could help.

WebView load website when online, load local file when offline

I&#39;m writing a web app to be used offline on iOS.  I&#39;ve created a manifest, am serving it up as `text/cache-manifest`, and it usually works fine, when running inside Safari.

If I add it as an app to my home screen, then turn on Airplane mode, it can&#39;t open the app at all -- I get an error and it offers to close the app.  (I thought this was the entire purpose of an offline app!)

 * When I load the app a first time when online, I can see in my logs that it&#39;s requesting every page listed in the manifest.

 * If I turn off Airplane mode, and load the app, I can see the first file it&#39;s requesting is my main.html file (which is both listed in the manifest, and has the `manifest=...` attribute).  It then requests the manifest, and all my other files, getting 200&#39;s for all (and 304&#39;s for anything requested a second time during this load).

 * When I load the page in Chrome, and click around, the logs show the only thing it&#39;s trying to reach on the server is &quot;/favicon.ico&quot; (which is a 404, and which I don&#39;t think iOS Safari tries to load, anyway).  All of the files listed in the manifest are valid and served without error.

 * The Chrome inspector lists, under &quot;APPLICATION CACHE&quot;, all the cached files I&#39;ve listed which I expect.  The entire set of files is about 50 KB, way under any limit on offline resources that I&#39;ve found.

Is this supposed to work, i.e., am I supposed to be able to create an offline iOS app using only HTML/CSS/JS?  And where do I go about figuring out why it&#39;s failing to work offline?

Offline iOS web app: loads my manifest, but doesn&#39;t work offline

I wrote an HTML5 database that abstracts localStorage, indexedDB, and WebSQL. Using straight HTML5 my database options look like this:

 - **IE10** - indexedDB - 1GB max
 - **FireFox** - indexedDB - unlimited 
 - **Safari** - WebSQL - 50MB max
 - **Chrome** - IndexedDB (or Web SQL) - unlimited (with the HTML5 Quota API [ref1][1], [ref2][2])
 - **Opera** - WebSQL (until they switch to webkit?) - unlimited
 
I would like to expand the maximum database size using PhoneGap or the Quota API. From PhoneGap&#39;s documentation it looks like the current [PhoneGap database ecosphere][3] is:

 - **WebSQL** - Android, Blackberry, iPhone, and webOS
 - **localStorage** - Windows Phone 7
 - **indexedDB** - [Windows Phone 8][4] and, i am guessing, everywhere indexedDB is available but WebSQL isn&#39;t.

There are also the PhoneGap SqlLite plugins. [iOS][5], [Android][6], [Windows Phone 8+][7]

**QUESTION 2** - Is there any solid documentation about how much data a PhoneGap database of a given type will store? *If it is a PhoneGap database and not the browsers database implementation.

**QUESTION 3** - Does PhoneGap have plans to adhere to the the [Web Storage standards][8] thereby dropping WebSQL in favor of indexedDB? If so, will I still be able to use my existing WebSQL code (via a built in PhoneGap-polyfill) once the switch to indexedDB is made?

**QUESTION 4** - In situations where database size is limited and cannot be expanded by either PhoneGap or the Quota API, but access to the file system is available, is it reasonable to assume that &quot;extra&quot; data could be stored on the device&#39;s file system or on a SD card?

What database does PhoneGap use and what is the size limit?

I&#39;m currently in the process of writing an offline webapp using all the html5 goodies for offline support.  However I&#39;m starting now to think about writing the sync module that will ensure that any offline data gets sent to the server and server data back to the client.  Now I&#39;m sure this has been done before, I mean its a pretty classic design issue that affects mobile devices and a plethora of other things. So I&#39;m wondering can anyone point me to some good design resources for this kind of thing?

Now I really do not need to be too sophisticated with this, I mean I&#39;m not handling multiple users accessing the same data and I&#39;m happy not to merge conflicts (just take the latest) but still I would like a design that will allow me those options in the future.

Also, are there any open source projects implementing this type of thing? I&#39;m not above ripping off someone else&#39;s code (if license allows) and I&#39;m happy to port.
