I am using both the JAI media apis and ImageMagick?

ImageMagick has some scalability issues and the JNI based JMagick isn&#39;t attractive either.
JAI has poor quality results when doing resizing operations compared to ImageMagick.

Does anyone know of any excellent tools either open source or commercial that are native java and deliver high quality results?

What is the best java image processing library/approach?

I&#39;ve got some code that resizes an image so I can get a scaled chunk of the center of the image - I use this to take a `UIImage` and return a small, square representation of an image, similar to what&#39;s seen in the album view of the Photos app. (I know I could use a `UIImageView` and adjust the crop mode to achieve the same results, but these images are sometimes displayed in `UIWebViews`).

I&#39;ve started to notice some crashes in this code and I&#39;m a bit stumped. I&#39;ve got two different theories and I&#39;m wondering if either is on-base.

Theory 1) I achieve the cropping by drawing into an offscreen image context of my target size. Since I want the center portion of the image, I set the `CGRect` argument passed to `drawInRect` to something that&#39;s larger than the bounds of my image context. I was hoping this was Kosher, but am I instead attempting to draw over other memory that I shouldn&#39;t be touching?

Theory 2) I&#39;m doing all of this in a background thread. I know there are portions of UIKit that are restricted to the main thread. I was assuming / hoping that drawing to an offscreen view wasn&#39;t one of these. Am I wrong?

(Oh, how I miss `NSImage&#39;s drawInRect:fromRect:operation:fraction:` method.)

I want to scale an image in C# with quality level as good as Photoshop does. Is there any C# image processing library available to do this thing?

Not sure this is possible, but looking to write a script that would return the average `hex` or `rgb` value for an image.  I know it can be done in AS but looking to do it in JavaScript.

I found a quite [large list of available libraries][1] on Node.JS wiki but I&#39;m not sure which of those are more mature and provide better performance. Basically I want to do the following:

 1. load some images to a server from external sources
 2. put them onto one big canvas
 3. crop and mask them a bit
 4. apply a filter or two
 5. Resize the final image and give a link to it

Big plus if the node package works on both Linux *and Windows*.

Which library should I use for server-side image manipulation on Node.JS?

Is there a cheap way to get the dimensions of an image (jpg, png, ...)? Preferably, I would like to achieve this using only the standard class library (because of hosting restrictions). I know that it should be relatively easy to read the image header and parse it myself, but it seems that something like this should be already there. Also, I’ve verified that the following piece of code reads the entire image (which I don’t want):

I&#39;m writing a card game and need my cards to be different sizes in different circumstances. I am storing my images as bitmaps so that they can be quickly drawn and redrawn (for animation).

My problem is that no matter how I try and scale my images (whether through a matrix.postScale, a matrix.preScale, or a createScaledBitmap function) they always come out pixelated and blurry. I know that its the scaling thats causing the problem because the images look perfect when drawn without resizing. 

I have worked through every solution described in these two threads:

but still haven&#39;t gotten anywhere. 

I store my bitmaps (into a hashmap) with this code:

Is there a library/simple way to flip an image?

**I&#39;m not looking for animations**, just flip the image.

I&#39;ve googled to no avial and only found a complex version that utilized SVG on [MozillaZine][1] which I&#39;m not confident that it&#39;ll work cross-browser.

I need to use [**ImageMagick**][1] as PIL does not have the amount of image functionality available that I am looking for. However, I am wanting to use Python.

The python bindings (PythonMagick) have not been updated since 2009. The only thing I have been able to find is `os.system` calls to use the command line interface but this seems clunky.

Is there any way to access the API directly using `ctypes` and conversions of some sort? 
As a last resort is there any other library out there that has the extensive amount of image editing tools like ImageMagick that I have looked over?

Can I access ImageMagick API with Python?

I&#39;m trying to draw images on the iPhone using with rounded corners, a la the contact images in the Contacts app. I&#39;ve got code that generally work, but it occasionally crashes inside of the UIImage drawing routines with an `EXEC_BAD_ACCESS` - `KERN_INVALID_ADDRESS`. I thought this might be related to the [cropping question][cropping] I asked a few weeks back, but I believe I&#39;m setting up the clipping path correctly.

Rounded Corners on UIImage

Is there any way to convert a bmp image to jpg/png without losing the quality in C#? Using Image class we can convert bmp to jpg but the quality of output image is very poor. Can we gain the quality level as good as an image converted to jpg using photoshop with highest quality?

I&#39;m trying to dynamically scale text to be placed on images of varying but known dimensions. The text will be applied as a watermark.  Is there any way to scale the text in relation to the image dimensions?  I don&#39;t require that the text take up the whole surface area, just to be visible enough so its easily identifiable and difficult to remove. I&#39;m using Python Imaging Library version 1.1.7. on Linux.

I would like to be able to set the ratio of the text size to the image dimensions, say like 1/10 the size or something.

I have been looking at the font size attribute to change the size but I have had no luck in creating an algorithm to scale it.  I&#39;m wondering if there is a better way.

Any ideas on how I could achieve this?
