I&#39;ve just swapped our project from ASP .Net Core 1.0.0-rc2-final to 1.0.0. Our website and client have stopped working because of the capitalization of JSON properties. For example, this line of JavaScript now fails

because the controller now calls the array &quot;items&quot; instead of &quot;Items&quot;. I have made no changes beyond installing the updated packages and editing the project.json file. I have not changed the C# model files which still capitalize their properties.

I was able to replace **IApplicationEnvironment** with **IHostingEnvironment**, and **ApplicationBasePath** with **WebRootPath**.

It seems like **IFormFile** doesn&#39;t have **SaveAsAsync()** anymore. How do I save file to disk then?

First of all my main purpose is to setup the IP and Port for my application dynamically.

When I create a new ASP .NET Core **Web**-Application, I can right-click the project in Visual Studio, and I see a context-menu entry called &quot;Manage User Secrets&quot;. 

When I create a new .NET Core **Console**-Application, I don&#39;t see this context-menu entry.

**Question**

How can I implement Basic Authentication with Custom Membership in an ASP.NET Core web application?


**Notes**

- In MVC 5 I was using the instructions in this [article][1] which requires adding a module in the `WebConfig`.

- I am still deploying my new `MVC Core`application on `IIS` but this approach seems not working. 

- I also do not want to use the IIS built in support for Basic authentication, since it uses Windows credentials.

How to set .NET Core in #if statement for compilation

I have ASP.NET Core application (Web Api). The documentation has explained [working with multiple environments][1], however it failed to explain how to set `aspnetcore_environment` when publishing the web site.     

So lets say if i have 3 environments `Development`, `Staging` and `Production`   

  1. In classic ASP.NET Web Application i used to create 3 build configurations. `Development`, `Staging` and `Production` ( Like shown in picture below).  and then 3 `.pubxml` files, one for each configuration. Do i need to use the same approach for `ASP.NET Core` application as well?

  2. How do i set `aspnetcore_environment` in `.pubxml` file?  

  3. If the approach specified in Question 1 is obsolete, then what&#39;s the alternate approach? ( I use Jenkins for CI)

I understand that I have to set `ASPNETCORE_ENVIRONMENT` however I am not able to understand where do we set this? During development I can set this in profile in `launchSettings.json`, however question was how do we set this when publishing to staging or production? do we set environment variable on the target server itself?

I found article [here][4] that explains different ways of setting environment variable. This partially answered my question. However when I publish the application, the publish process does not honor the environment variable while publishing `appsettings.{env.EnvironmentName}.json`

How to set aspnetcore_environment in publish file?

In **RC1**, `IUrlHelper` could be injected in services (with `services.AddMvc()` in startup class)

This doesn&#39;t work anymore in **RC2**. Does anybody know how to do it in **RC2** as just newing up a `UrlHelper` requires an `ActionContext` object. Don&#39;t know how to get that outside a controller.

I am migrating a ASP.NET 5 RC1 project to ASP.NET Core, and have come across an interesting issue I&#39;ve not yet seen, or found a solution for.

In order to use configuration settings within Startup I have previously retrived the configuration the following way

I have tried updating the code to use Configuration.GetValue&amp;lt;T&amp;gt;() however this does not seem to work with objects and will only work when providing a path to a value. This has left me with a workaround for *most* of my configuration classes like so
