According to the [packages list][1] in Ubuntu &lt;strike&gt;*Wily*&lt;/strike&gt; &lt;strike&gt;Xenial&lt;/strike&gt; Bionic there is a package named **openjfx**. This should be a candidate for what you&#39;re looking for:

You can install it via:

    sudo apt-get install openjfx

It provides the [following JAR files][2] to the OpenJDK installation on Ubuntu systems:

I use ubuntu 16.04 and because I already had openJDK installed, this command have solved the problem. Don&#39;t forget that JavaFX is part of OpenJDK.

I want to remove all punctuation marks from a text file using .translate() method. It seems to work well under Python 2.x but under Python 3.4 it doesn&#39;t seem to do anything. 

My code is as follows and the output is the same as input text.

When adding permissions to my manifest file, the below xml works.

     &lt;permission android:name=&quot;android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION&quot; /&gt;

However, this xml doesn&#39;t work.

    &lt;uses-permission android:name=&quot;android.permission.ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION&quot; /&gt;

Which one am I supposed to be using? If it&#39;s the first one, why wouldn&#39;t it work? How can I fix it?


Also, I am getting an Android 6.0 runtime permissions related exception:

    java.lang.SecurityException: &quot;gps&quot; location provider requires ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION permission.

When I try to add the permission to a String array in order to check the permission, Android Studio tells me it can&#39;t resolve `Manifest.permission` in the  below  code:

Why would it be doing this? How can I fix it?

As I recall, before Java 8, the default capacity of `ArrayList` was 10.

Surprisingly, the comment on the default (void) constructor still says: `Constructs an empty list with an initial capacity of ten.`

Logcat error message - Attempted to destroy barrier with non zero count

I received the following error while attempting to execute a Servlet program in Eclipse Mars EE.

What should I do to stop the process? I&#39;m assuming that Tomcat 7 server must be stopped. How shall I do it if my operating system is Windows 8?

When adding dependencies to my project I am never sure what prefix I should give them, e.g. `&quot;classpath&quot;` or `&quot;compile&quot;.` 

For example, should my dependencies below be compile time or classpath? 

Also, should this be in my *applications* build.gradle or in the *module* specific build.gradle?

Today I saw a Google app which needs 3 permissions: contacts, sms and camera. It&#39;s making a page 1-3 and calls them all together at the same time to activate.

Can anybody tell me how I can call 4 permissions to activate at the same time like sms, camera, contacts and storage?

Which @NonNull Java annotation to use

I&#39;m trying to work with eclipse to compile/debug C/C++ applications on MAC OSX using LLVM/Clang. 

I know I have the toolchain correctly installed as I can compile with it from the terminal using a makefile, and when running `clang -v` I get the LLVM version + install dir correctly. 

I downloaded a fresh copy of eclipse C++ (Mars) + installed the LLVM support plugin and followed:  https://stackoverflow.com/questions/32726175/unable-to-install-llvm-toolchain-for-eclipse-cdt

Copied the install dir path from the `clang -v` output to the LLVM part in the preferences -&gt; c++ -&gt; LLVM, but it seems eclipse does not detect the toolchain. 

It does not appear as an option when creating a new C++ project unless I uncheck the &quot;only show supported toolchains on the target&quot; checkbox , and when I do uncheck it and create a LLVM project for MACOS in the build process it says:

Toolchain &quot;LLVM with Clang (MacOSX)&quot; is not detected.
Refer to &quot;C/C++ Development User Guide&quot;, &quot;Before you begin&quot; how to install toolchains.

All it says in the manual is to install Xcode to get the toolchain running , which I obviously did as it is working from the terminal. 

Any ideas? How does Eclipse detect the toolchain exists? 

Eclipse on MAC OS X Does not detect LLVM toolchain

I need to setup a Tomcat **8.5.x** server version  in Eclipse. When I try to create a server using Eclipse GUI, I get in Eclipse Luna as choice the latest version &quot;*Apache Tomcat v8.0*&quot;. When I select it and I browse to my Tomcat 8.5.x server, I get this blocking error message:

&gt;  The Apache Tomcat installation at this directory is version 8.5.0.  A
&gt; Tomcat 8.0 installation is expected.

The same error appears when trying TomEE 7.x, which is internally based on Tomcat 8.5.

In *Eclipse Neon* the latest version as choice is &quot;*Apache Tomcat v9.0*&quot; and it gives the same error. There isn&#39;t even a &quot;*Apache Tomcat v8.5*&quot; option.

Is there a way to use Tomcat **8.5** and TomEE 7.x in Eclipse? How?


How to use Tomcat 8.5.x and TomEE 7.x with Eclipse?

I am seeing an error in my STS and am not sure how to debug it. Searching around I only see vague references to the error and no solutions.

The error is:

**Question**: Can anyone give any suggestions on how to get more information on the issue in order to debug it further or any possible solutions?

Maybe some more context on what the functionality of method is. The javadoc associated with the `MavenArchiver.getManifest()` method is not very detailed and there is no stack trace that I see. I&#39;ve tried several refreshes and updates of the project and associated projects including clearing my local m2 repo.

For my [Ubuntu][1] machine, I downloaded the latest version of Android SDK from [this][2] page.

After extracting the downloaded [`.tgz` file](http://dl.google.com/android/android-sdk_r24.4.1-linux.tgz), I was trying to search for [installation instructions][3] and found:

I&#39;m installing MongoDB on an Ubuntu 14.04 machine, using the instructions at:

JavaFX FXML controller - constructor vs initialize method

I have been trying to display a marker on the map when I click on a Button of my JavaFX application. So what happens is when I click on that button, I write the position in a JSON file, this file will be loaded in the html file that contains the map. The problem is that it works perfectly when I open the html page in the browser, but nothing happens in the JavaFX&#39;s web view, and I don&#39;t know why !

When I click the button, I fill the JSON file (which works perfectly) and then I execute this to refresh the webview:

As I said before, when I open the file on the browser I see the expected result, but I don&#39;t know what is the problem with the JavaFX.
If there is a better way to do this please tell me.

**EDIT:**

I found a solution to the problem by sending directly the data (the GPS coordinates) from JavaFX to Javascript using the executeScript() method, so I don&#39;t need a json file as bridge between the two platforms.
So this is an example of how the code looks like:

Google Maps &amp; JavaFX: Display marker on the map after clicking JavaFX button

Below are two PNG images:

Visually they are exactly identical - the only difference is that one has the semi-transparent background in some of the pixels (you can download the images to check it).

But when I use those images as an image cursor on JavaFX nodes, I get the following result:

First cursor (without partially transparent pixels) is still crisp, but the second gets distorted.

After fighting with the problem for a while, I discovered the algorithm that accounts for this difference - blending mode:

* &quot;Expected&quot; way (that you can see in this browser, for example) is to take the sum of values per channel, weighted by alpha values: `(1 - alpha) * background_color + alpha * foreground_color`.

* &quot;JavaFX Cursor&quot; gives the different formula: `(1 - alpha) * background_color + alpha^2 * foreground_color` (note the square).

I discovered the distortion, but I can&#39;t figure out what I did wrong and how I can correct this problem. 

Here&#39;s the complete runnable source code for my testing program:

Why is javafx mangling my semi-transparent cursors?

I&#39;m trying to run the sample JavaFX project using IntelliJ but it fails with the exception :

    Error: JavaFX runtime components are missing, and are required to run this application

I have downloaded JDK 11 here : http://jdk.java.net/11/
I have downloaded OpenJFX here : http://jdk.java.net/openjfx/
I&#39;m using : IntelliJ IDEA 2018.2 (Community Edition)

I have created a new JavaFX project in IntelliJ using JDK 11. My JavaFX classes were not known so I have added the OpenJFX library by doing :

- File -&gt; Project Structure -&gt; Modules -&gt; + -&gt; Library -&gt; Java

I have the OpenJFX added with the 8 jars below &quot;classes&quot; and also the folders below &quot;Sources&quot; and the path to the bin folder under &quot;Native Library Locations&quot;.

When I&#39;m building the project, it&#39;s good, but impossible to run it. 

What am I doing wrong?

I&#39;m having trouble getting IntellJ to recognize JavaFX packages. With a new JavaFX project, with OpenJDK 11, when trying to build the project, IntelliJ can&#39;t recognize the JavaFX packages.

I&#39;ve imported `openjfx:javafx-base-11` from the Maven repo.

I&#39;ve looked at other questions and the solutions seem to range from checking that the bytecode is at the right level (mine is), and that the project language is correct (mine is).

Anyone have any ideas?
