When you use a View, it imposes certain size limitations on its children elements. These limitations may prevent a child element from taking up the amount of space it wants to.

The [documentation for the View class](http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/View.html#measure%28int,%20int%29) describes these properties as follows:

&gt; The size of a view is expressed with a width and a height. A view actually possess two pairs of width and height values.

**The task is:**

A non-empty zero-indexed string S is given. String S consists of N characters from the set of upper-case English letters A, C, G, T.

This string actually represents a DNA sequence, and the upper-case letters represent single nucleotides.

You are also given non-empty zero-indexed arrays P and Q consisting of M integers. These arrays represent queries about minimal nucleotides. We represent the letters of string S as integers 1, 2, 3, 4 in arrays P and Q, where A = 1, C = 2, G = 3, T = 4, and we assume that A &lt; C &lt; G &lt; T.

What is the difference between getMeasuredHeight and getHeight

I want a running example of OCR in android, I have done some research and find an example that implements OCR in android.

best OCR (Optical character recognition) example in android

in my app,  i want two things to happen.

1. when i touch and drag the ImageButton, it should move along with my finger.

   i used `OnTouchListener()` for this and it works fine.

2. when i click the ImageButton, it should close the activity.

   i used `OnClickListener()` for this and it also works fine.  

So, here is my problem. whenever i move the `ImageButton` `OnTouchListener` is tirggered and the `ImageButton` moves, the `OnClickListener` is also triggered at the end when i am releasing the button from moving.

I&#39;ve developed a simple demo application with a splash screen a map and some regular screens.

I have an action bar at the top that contains a logo. It all looks fine on my phone (Galaxy s1 I9000 V2.3) but when i test it on Galaxy s2 v4 the action bar appears also in the splash screen and in the map screen.

The spalsh and map activity are not even inheriting from ActionBarActivity so how is that possible and how can i make it go away?

Android: how to hide ActionBar on certain activities

Hopefully someone can help me figure out, if not a solution, at least an explanation for a behaviour.

**The Problem:**

*On some devices, pressing the launcher icon results in the current task being resumed, on others it results in the initial launch intent being fired (effectively restarting the app). Why does this happen?* 

**The Detail:**

When you press the &quot;Launcher Icon&quot; the app starts normally - That is, I assume, an Intent is launched with the name of your first `Activity` with the action `android.intent.action.MAIN` and the category `android.intent.category.LAUNCHER`. This can&#39;t always be the case however:

On the majority of devices, if you press the launcher icon after the app is already running, the currently running Activity in that process is resumed (**NOT** the initial `Activity`). It resumes in the same way as if you had selected it from the &quot;Recent Tasks&quot; in the OS menu. This is the behaviour I want on *all* devices.

However, on selected other devices different behaviour occurs:

* On the Motorola Xoom, when you press the launcher icon, the App will *always* start the initial launch `Activity` regardless of what is currently running. I assume that the launcher icons always start the &quot;LAUNCHER&quot; intent.

* On the Samsung Tab 2, when you press the launcher icon, if you have just installed the app, it will always launch the initial `Activity` (Same as the Xoom) - however, after you restart the device after the install, the launcher icon will instead resume the app. I assume that these devices add &quot;installed apps&quot; into a lookup table on device startup which allow the launcher icons to correctly resume running tasks?

I&#39;ve read many answer that *sound* similar to my problem  but simply adding `android:alwaysRetainTaskState=&quot;true&quot;` or using `launchMode=&quot;singleTop&quot;` to the `Activity` are not the answer.

**Edit:**

After the most recent launch of this app, we find that this behaviour has begun to occur on *all* devices after the first restart. Which seems crazy to me but looking through the restart process, I can&#39;t actually find what&#39;s going wrong.

App restarts rather than resumes

So I have a `byte [] array` which I have created in my android app. I want to use SharedPreferences from android to store it and retrieve it back again when I start my app.

how to add button click event in android studio

This is tricky to word but I have a view controller (vc1) that contains a container view (I&#39;m using storyboards). Within that container view is a navigation controller and a root view controller (vc2).

From within the vc2 how can I get access to vc1? 

Or, how do I pass vc1 to vc2? (baring in mind that I&#39;m using storyboards).

From within a view controller in a container view, how do you access the view controller containing the container?

I&#39;m looking for a simple method to remove at once all subviews from a superview instead of removing them one by one.

I am trying to make a view in android with rounded edges. The solution I found so far is to define a shape with rounded corners and use it as the background of that view.

But my layout has got many other child views in it, say an ImageView or a `MapView`. When I place an `ImageView` inside the above layout, the corners of image are not clipped/cropped, instead it appears full.

I have seen other workarounds to make it work like the one explained [here][1].

I&#39;m experiencing some trouble with the width property of CSS. I have some paragraphs inside a div. I&#39;d like to make the width of the paragraphs equal to their content, so that their green background looks like a label for the text. What I get instead is that the paragraphs inherit the width of the div father node which is wider.

Width equal to content

I have a graph plugin that inserts canvas and a legend `&lt;table&gt;` to its container. In this plugin the `table` has no `width` defined and in my CSS there is a width for tables inside that container were my plugin gets inserted.

So, the new div is inheriting `table{ width: 100%}` from the CSS and rendering wrong.

I tried to use `width: initial;`, looks good on Chrome but [**IE doesn&#39;t like it**][1] &lt;sup&gt;check browser compatibility&lt;/sup&gt;

I admit changing/forcing a inline CSS in the script/plugin since it has to work in any enviroment.

What is the best solution here?

I&#39;ve set `width: 200px;` on the left `&lt;div&gt;` but if I view it with the browser inspector tool it appears that the real width is random or something. It keeps changing depending on the window size.

Why doesn&#39;t the width take effect?

**EDIT**: If I remove `width: 100%` the width stays fixed. But I need that so the `#main` div takes the remaining width :( Is there any way to have the sidebar @ fixed width and the other `&lt;div&gt;` fill the rest of the container width? `width: auto;` on `#main` doesn&#39;t work..

In other words, I want all columns to take whatever width they need and not more, and then I want Column D to use up all of the remaining space inside the 100% width table.

We&#39;ve just started to implement the new google recaptcha as listed https://www.google.com/recaptcha/intro/index.html

However the new method seems to be contained within an iFrame rather than embedded into the page thus making applying CSS more difficult.

However we&#39;ve got our form which is 400px wide so would like to have the recaptcha the same width.

Currently it looks like, however we&#39;d like it the same with as the rest.

Does anybody know how to do this yet?
