So effectively it is a supplement to the .suo (solution user options) file, and like the .suo file it should not be checked into version control.


Does anyone know of a regular expression I could use to find URLs within a string? I&#39;ve found a lot of regular expressions on Google for determining if an entire string is a URL but I need to be able to search an entire string for URLs.  For example, I would like to be able to find `www.google.com` and `http://yahoo.com` in the following string:

I have some code in a header that looks like this:

    #include &lt;memory&gt;
    
    class Thing;

    class MyClass
    {
        std::unique_ptr&lt; Thing &gt; my_thing;
    };

If I include this header in a cpp that does not include the `Thing` type definition, then this does not compile under VS2010-SP1:

&gt; 10.0\VC\include\memory(2067): error C2027: use of undefined type &#39;Thing&#39;

Replace `std::unique_ptr` by `std::shared_ptr` and it compiles.

So, I&#39;m guessing that it&#39;s the current VS2010 `std::unique_ptr`&#39;s implementation that requires the full definition and it&#39;s totally implementation-dependant.

Or is it? Is there something in it&#39;s standard requirements that makes impossible for `std::unique_ptr`&#39;s implementation to work with a forward declaration only? It feels strange as it should only hold a pointer to `Thing`, shouldn&#39;t it?

Is std::unique_ptr&lt;T&gt; required to know the full definition of T?

Has anyone else experience incredibly slow performance in the XAML editor in VS 2010?  If I have a new project with a limited number of files, the performance is fine.  However, if I have a project with a larger number of XAML files, the XAML editor hangs intermittently every few seconds, making it almost impossible to use.

I should also note that the performance is only slow in one particular project where I am referencing DevExpress 2010.  I am not certain if this is related.

Any suggestions on solutions to this problem would be greatly appreciated.

How do I create/edit a Manifest file?

I was previously using a dual-monitor setup with a 24&quot; monitor and my laptop&#39;s built-in monitor.

I&#39;ve since connected a 2nd 24&quot; monitor and am no longer using the laptop screen at all. (It is disabled).

In my regular view (coding, etc) the properties window, solution explorer, toolbox, etc were all visible and I just needed to move/resize them to fit the larger screen size.

Unfortunately this is no the case with the debugging view. I need to debug something and it appears my locals and other windows are off the edge of the screen. I&#39;ve tried Ctrl+D,L but it doesn&#39;t seem to want to bring it up.

I can&#39;t find anywhere in the menu a command to reset windows.

Any idea what I can do?

How can I get VS 2010 to run more than one C++ compile process at a time? I mean building object modules in parallel; I&#39;m not interested in building more than one project at a time (I know about Tools &gt; Options &gt; Build and Run &lt; Maximum number of parallel project builds, but that doesn&#39;t do what I want).

Basically, I&#39;m looking for Visual Studio&#39;s equivalent of &quot;make -jN&quot;.

Visual Studio remembers breakpoints from previous debugging sessions, which is awesome.

However, when I&#39;m debugging, and I clear one of these &quot;old&quot; breakpoints by clicking on it, it&#39;s only temporarily deleted. What I mean is the next time I debug, the breakpoint that I thought I removed is back. 

This is super annoying--is there a setting to make it not do this?

I&#39;ve arranged Visual Studio 2010 such that output, error list, find results and many other windows appear in the same &quot;region&quot;. I don&#39;t know if that&#39;s the correct term, they appear as tabs next to each other.

That is a pretty close question, and I didn&#39;t see it before posting. There is a difference though, I only want to close all windows inside a particular &quot;region&quot; not the solution explorer or properties. However I guess it should be possible to modify the macro from the answer:

I just installed the Productivity Power Tools for Visual Studio 2010. I also have ReSharper installed. Prior to the PowerTools installation, my TODO comments (i.e. `// TODO: Do Something`) were showing up in the code using the font listed under VS options as &quot;Resharper Todo Item&quot;. Now it&#39;s a dark blue color, and apparently ignoring the setting in the VS options.

I&#39;m using a dark theme, so I can barely read these comments. I&#39;ve dug through all the options I can find (all of the options in VS options including the new power tools options, and in the ReSharper options), and can&#39;t find it.

Any thoughts?

I love the [Productivity Power Tools][1] extension for visual studio, however it has added the &lt;kbd&gt;Ctrl&lt;/kbd&gt;+Click &quot;Go To Definition&quot; functionality, which is great and all, but my workflow makes me use the functionality when I don&#39;t want it. 

When I want to copy something, I start marking some text, still holding down the mouse button, hold down &lt;kbd&gt;Ctrl&lt;/kbd&gt; + &lt;kbd&gt;C&lt;/kbd&gt; and then release the mouse button. The tool acknowledges this as a Go To Definition click, and I usually end up in the definition of String or whatever. I know I could just release the &lt;kbd&gt;Ctrl&lt;/kbd&gt; button prior to the mouse-button; however, I have a hard time reconditioning myself from a habit I have had since forever.

Is there a way to remap the &lt;kbd&gt;Ctrl&lt;/kbd&gt; + Click Go To Definition functionality, say, to &lt;kbd&gt;Ctrl&lt;/kbd&gt;+&lt;kbd&gt;Shift&lt;/kbd&gt;+Click? I know I can deactivate it by going to &quot;Tools&gt;Options&gt;Productivity Power Tools&gt;All Extensions&quot;; however, I don&#39;t want to lose the functionality just make it work as I want it.

How to remap the Ctrl+Click &quot;Go To Definition&quot; short-key in the Productivity Power Tools (or maybe ReSharper)

I strain to read the tabs in the source code editor of Visual Studio 2012. 
I don&#39;t even understand what the different colors mean? They seem totally random. Black on brown or black on blue.... who choose that?

So I would like to turn off the colouring for the tabs and revert to black on white, or a light grey.

I&#39;ve looked in:

but I cant see anything relevant. So how can I do this please?

VS2012 How to turn off editor tab colouring?

We have a really big solution with more than 200 projects and thousands of files. Despite of that the solution used to load pretty quickly in Visual Studio 2010 as well as 2012. However, after copying the whole SVN repository to another location, loading and closing the solution suddenly took extreeeemly long. (I am talking about 30-60 minutes here!)

Why does it take sooo long to load my solution in Visual Studio?

I&#39;m using &quot;Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate&quot; and &quot;Productivity Power Tools 2013&quot;.
There are these vertical indent lines and I don&#39;t know how to remove them.

I tried disabling &quot;Column Guides&quot;, but it was not related to this.
