Looks like you might have [Productivity Power Tools][1] installed? If so turn off Custom Document Well or look in the *Options &gt; Productivity Power Tools &gt; Custom Document Well &gt; Advanced*, there is an option to set colour to Visual Studio.

My selected Tab is now bright Blue all the time.


The colors of each tab comes from **productivity power tools**. For each project power tools assign a colors, so developer can easily detect a file(if contain same name) belongs to which project.

For VS 2013 &amp; 2015 you can easily remove those color by unchecked **Colors tab by project** following below steps

go to *Tools &gt; Options &gt; Productivity Power Tools &gt; Custom Document Well &gt; General*

I&#39;m trying to release a Jenkins plugin ([stashNotifier][1]) with Maven and face a problem with the release plugin. 

    mvn clean release:prepare

runs to completion without errors but fails to commit the changed pom.xml in my local git repository. Even though it does tag the HEAD of the branch on which I&#39;m trying to release version 1.0.2. This is what my local branch looks like before preparing the release

    * df60768 (HEAD, origin/develop, develop) upgraded parent pom to version 1.498
    * 792766a added distribution management section to pom.xml and amended readme.md 

and this is what it looks like after

    * df60768 (HEAD, tag: stashNotifier-1.0.2, origin/develop, develop) upgraded parent pom to version 1.498

Unfortunately, the pom.xml already contains the next development version, which in turn causes a subsequent release:perform to release that snapshot version.

I commented out a gem, but &#39;bundle install&#39; still won&#39;t run. How do I find out which gem has a dependency on sys-proctable?

The basic Google search [bigobj issue](https://www.google.com/search?q=bigobj+issue) shows that a lot of people are experiencing the [Fatal Error C1128](http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/8578y171.aspx): &quot;*number of sections exceeded object file format limit : compile with /bigobj*&quot;. The error has more chance to occur if one heavily uses a library of C++ templates, like [Boost libraries](http://www.boost.org) or [CGAL libraries](http://www.cgal.org/).

That error is strange, because it gives the solution to itself: set the [compiler flag `/bigobj`](http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms173499.aspx)!

So here is my question: why is not that flag set by default? There must be a penalty of using that flag, otherwise it would be set by default. That penalty is not documented in MSDN. Does anybody have a clue?

I ask the question because I wonder if the configuration system of [CGAL](http://www.cgal.org) should not set `/bigobj` by default.

Using visual studio 2012 and TFS 2012, I would like to rollback a changeset to the prior one.

I&#39;m collaborating with some fellow students to build a python app, and was hoping to use the &#39;training wheels&#39; of Visual Studio intelli-sense. They use python on mac and linux, so ideally our source control repo would consist of just `*.py` source files that we wrote, and a `requirements.txt` export of pip dependancies (using the `pip freeze` method).

I would love to be able to create a new Visual Studio project, then be able to run the following commands (for instance) within that project:

    pip install boto
    pip install fabric
    pip install cuisine
    pip freeze &gt; requirements.txt

And after that, be able to write some code that references these libraries and be able to run it from within Visual Studio.

Is there any way to do this?  Is Python within Visual Studio even able to handle modules in the format they are available within pip, or do all python libraries used in VS have to have been pre-compiled for Windows?

Setup: Entity framework code first to new database.

Scenario: I&#39;m playing around with EF and I add a bunch of elements to my database. I then change the entity model, and while I know that I could do migrations, I just want to start from scratch and basically wipe the database from the earth.

The database used by default was (localdb)\v11.0.

My question is:

Can I go somewhere and just delete a file, or start some kind of manager to delete that database and start from scratch?

Using Visual studio 2010 I got problems when double-clicking, for example a config file (*.config). Visual Studio would open but give me a error message about parameters. If I simple try to drag and drop a file that Visual Studio usually can read in to it, the icon will give me the &quot;not possible icon&quot;?

I have now installed Visual Studio 2012 and it has the same problem?!

This makes my work a lot harder, it should be easy to just drag &amp; drop files into Visual Studio, but it&#39;s not so? Now I have to manually find the file with the file menu?

I&#39;m in the research phase trying to adopt 2012 Database Projects on an existing small project. I&#39;m a C# developer, not a DBA, so I&#39;m not particularly fluent with best practices. I&#39;ve been searching google and stackoverflow for a few hours now but I still don&#39;t know how to handle some key deployment scenarios properly.

1) Over the course of several development cycles, how do I manage multiple versions of my database? If I have a client on v3 of my database and I want to upgrade them to v8, how do I manage this? We currently manage hand-crafted schema and data migration scripts for every version of our product. Do we still need to do this separately or is there something in the new paradigm that supports or replaces this?

2) If the schema changes in such a way that requires data to be moved around, what is the best way to handle this? I assume some work goes in the Pre-Deployment script to preserve the data and then the Post-Deploy script puts it back in the right place. Is that the way of it or is there something better?

3) Any other advice or guidance on how best to work with these new technologies is also greately appreciated!

**UPDATE:** My understanding of the problem has grown a little since I originally asked this question and while I came up with a workable solution, it wasn&#39;t quite the solution I was hoping for. Here&#39;s a rewording of my problem:

The problem I&#39;m having is purely data related. If I have a client on version 1 of my application and I want to upgrade them to version 5 of my application, I would have no problems doing so if their database had no data. I&#39;d simply let SSDT intelligently compare schemas and migrate the database in one shot. Unfortunately clients have data so it&#39;s not that simple. Schema changes from version 1 of my application to version 2 to version 3 (etc) all impact data. My current strategy for managing data requires I maintain a script for each version upgrade (1 to 2, 2 to 3, etc). This prevents me from going straight from version 1 of my application to version 5 because I have no data migration script to go straight there. The prospect creating custom upgrade scripts for every client or managing upgrade scripts to go from every version to every greater version is exponentially unmanageable. What I was hoping was that there was some sort of strategy SSDT enables that makes managing the data side of things easier, maybe even as easy as the schema side of things. My recent experience with SSDT has not given me any hope of such a strategy existing but I would love to find out differently.

How to properly manage database deployment with SSDT and Visual Studio 2012 Database Projects?

For as long as I can recall, Visual Studio has had an integrate dialog that allows you to easily organize the tab order of your controls.

I&#39;ve just created my first VS 2012 WinForms project, added all of my controls and went to find the Tab Indexing dialog, and it appears to be missing from Visual Studio.

I found [this MSDN article][1] which states that I can open this dialog by going to FORMAT&gt;Tab order.  The problem is that there is no Tab Order option on my FORMAT menu.  Alternatively, the documentation states th at Ctrl+D should open this dialog.  It doesn&#39;t.

Another alternative is to select the VIEW&gt;Tab Order menu option.  This method causes Tab Index boxes to hover over your controls.  You can subsequently click on your controls, one at a time, in the order in which you want them to tab, to set the tab order.

This isn&#39;t acceptable because my form contains numerous panels and group boxes that cover one another.  It is impossible for me to click-through my controls because many of them are no longer visible in the designer.

Is there an easy way for me to setup the tab order of my controls like there previously use to be within older versions of Visual Studio?

Where is the Tab Order Assignment dialog in Visual Studio 2012?

I have been investigating for the whole day as I considered it would be worthwhile spending some time to learn best practice for customizing [Bootstrap](http://twitter.github.io/bootstrap/).


I can see that there is a friendly page available for customizing elements selectively from http://twitter.github.io/bootstrap/customize.html but I want to have more control than this without touching original bootstrap source files.


To start with, I basically wanted to test out changing the grid from 12 to 16 columns and to do this, I created my own variable less file and added @gridColumns:16; only to this file and imported this custom less inside bootstrap.less as follows.

We have a really big solution with more than 200 projects and thousands of files. Despite of that the solution used to load pretty quickly in Visual Studio 2010 as well as 2012. However, after copying the whole SVN repository to another location, loading and closing the solution suddenly took extreeeemly long. (I am talking about 30-60 minutes here!)

Why does it take sooo long to load my solution in Visual Studio?

I&#39;m using &quot;Visual Studio 2013 Ultimate&quot; and &quot;Productivity Power Tools 2013&quot;.
There are these vertical indent lines and I don&#39;t know how to remove them.

I tried disabling &quot;Column Guides&quot;, but it was not related to this.

Productivity power tools 2013 remove vertical indent lines

In Visual Studio 2013 and up, there is the **Peek Definition** feature when you Ctrl + Click. At first I thought this was cool, but I have found that the majority of the time, I need to click the `Promote to Document` button, since I make lots of changes to the files I Ctrl + Click on. But after Googling how to turn off Peek Definition, I can&#39;t find any details on if this is possible. What I would really like is for the Ctrl + Click functionality to go back to opening the definition in its own tab, like in previous versions of VS. Is this possible?
