If you are using the &#39;pylab&#39; for interactive plotting you can set the labelsize at creation time with `pylab.ylabel(&#39;Example&#39;, fontsize=40)`.

If you use `pyplot` programmatically you can either set the fontsize on creation with `ax.set_ylabel(&#39;Example&#39;, fontsize=40)` or afterwards with `ax.yaxis.label.set_size(40)`.



In my app the first view of all my screens is an EditText, so every time i go to a screen the onscreen keypad pops up. how can i disable this popingup and enable it when manually clicked on the EditText????

What I&#39;m trying to do is setting the value of the property in a class using a string.  For example, my class has the following properties:

    myClass.Name
    myClass.Address
    myClass.PhoneNumber
    myClass.FaxNumber

All the fields are of `string` type so I know ahead of time that it&#39;s always a string.  Now, I want to be able to set the properties using a string as you could do with a `DataSet` object.  Something like this:

    myClass[&quot;Name&quot;] = &quot;John&quot;
    myClass[&quot;Address&quot;] = &quot;1112 River St., Boulder, CO&quot;

Ideally, I want to just assign a variable and then set the property using that string name from the variable:

    string propName = &quot;Name&quot;
    myClass[propName] = &quot;John&quot;

I was reading about reflection and maybe it&#39;s the way to do it but I&#39;m not sure how to go about setting that up while keeping the property access intact in the class.  I want to still be able to use:

I have a list of tuples in [Python][1], and I have a conditional where I want to take the branch ONLY if the tuple is not in the list (if it is in the list, then I don&#39;t want to take the if branch)

This is not really working for me though. What have I done wrong?

Check if something is (not) in a list in Python

I am attempting to work with a very large dataset that has some non-standard characters in it. I need to use unicode, as per the job specs, but I am baffled. (And quite possibly doing it all wrong.)

I open the CSV using:

Then, I attempt to encode it with:

    name=school_name.encode(&#39;utf-8&#39;), street=row[9].encode(&#39;utf-8&#39;), city=row[10].encode(&#39;utf-8&#39;), state=row[11].encode(&#39;utf-8&#39;), zip5=row[12], zip4=row[13],county=row[25].encode(&#39;utf-8&#39;), lat=row[22], lng=row[23])

I&#39;m encoding everything except the lat and lng because those need to be sent out to an API. When I run the program to parse the dataset into what I can use, I get the following Traceback.

I have a very simple question. I need to have a second x-axis on my plot and I want that this axis has a certain number of tics that correspond to certain position of the first axis.

Let&#39;s try with an example. Here I am plotting the dark matter mass as a function of the expansion factor, defined as 1/(1+z), that ranges from 0 to 1.

The resulting figure is very small at the center of the grey window, while most of the space is unoccupied. How can I set the parameters to make the figure larger? I tried figsize=(xx,xx) and it&#39;s not what I want. Thanks!

I am making a chart in matplotlib and I have many subplots in it each of them with a different title, but on the top I also want to a put a title to the whole chart. How this can be done?

I am making an application in Python which collects data from a serial port and plots a graph of the collected data against arrival time. The time of arrival for the data is uncertain. I want the plot to be updated when data is received. I searched on how to do this and found two methods:

 1. Clear the plot and re-draw the plot with all the points again.
 2. Animate the plot by changing it after a particular interval.

I do not prefer the first one as the program runs and collects data for a long time (a day for example), and redrawing the plot will be pretty slow.
The second one is also not preferable as time of arrival of data is uncertain and I want the plot to update only when the data is received.

Is there a way in which I can update the plot just by adding more points to it only when the data is received?

css label width not taking effect

I&#39;ve been using the sample code from [this d3 project][1] to learn how to display d3 graphs and I can&#39;t seem to get text to show up in the middle of the circles (similar to [this example][2] and [this example][3]). I&#39;ve looked at other examples and have tried adding

From the other two examples, it would seem like d3 already takes cares of this somehow. I just don&#39;t know the right attribute to call/set.

With `matplotlib` when a log scale is specified for an axis, the default method of labeling that axis is with numbers that are 10 to a power eg. 10^6. Is there an easy way to change all of these labels to be their full numerical representation? eg. 1, 10, 100, etc.

Note that I do not know what the range of powers will be and want to support an arbitrary range (negatives included).
