I think you should use this overload of the [.clone()][1] method:

    $element.clone(true, true);

&gt; **clone( [withDataAndEvents] [, deepWithDataAndEvents] )**     

&gt;**withDataAndEvents**: A Boolean indicating whether event handlers and data should be copied along with the elements. The default value is false.    

&gt; **deepWithDataAndEvents**: A Boolean indicating whether event handlers and data for all children of the cloned element should be copied. By default its value matches the first argument&#39;s value (which defaults to false).

Beware that `.on()` does not actually bind the events to the targets but to the element you are delegating to. So if you have:

    $(&#39;#container&#39;).on(&#39;click&#39;, &#39;.button&#39;, ...);

The events are actually binded to `#container`. When a click on a `.button` element occurs, it bubbles up to the `#container` element The element which triggered the event is evaluated upon the selector parameter of `.on()` and if it matches, the event handler is executed. This is how event delegation works.

If you clone the element #container, you have to deep clone with events and data for the bindings made with `.on()` to be preserved.

This would not be necessary if you were using `.on()` on a parent of `#container`.

I am trying to turn off the device, then after a few minutes or sensor change, turn it back on.

**Turn Off Display Tests**

I am able to turn off the screen using:

    params.flags |= LayoutParams.FLAG_KEEP_SCREEN_ON;
	params.screenBrightness = 0;
	getWindow().setAttributes(params);

I have been unable to turn off the screen using the wl.release() method.

**Turn On Display Test**

My first guess, as follows, does not work. Nothing happens, screen remains off.

	params.screenBrightness = -1f;
	getWindow().setAttributes(params);

I also then tried to use wakelocks, with no success.

Finally I have tried the following, with no result.

    getWindow().addFlags(WindowManager.LayoutParams.FLAG_TURN_SCREEN_ON);

All in all, I don&#39;t get any kind of error in the console for any of these methods. My test text &quot;Screen should be on&quot;, is on the the screen when I turn on the device using the power button. This shows that the code should have ran. Please only answer if you have tested the code, it seems like many of the functions such as `params.screenBrightness = -1`, do not work as they should according to the sdk.

What does this symbol mean in JavaScript?

I would like to extend the &#39;console.log&#39; function to add additional information to its output - but I dont want to affect the script name/line number information generated by the browser in the console window. See how if I create my own implementation, I get useless trace information, should I want to locate that region of code... (they all link to the log implementation, not the actual script that caused the log message)

Basically, my application is a very pluggable infrastructure, were any log output may occur within any number of frames.
As such, I want every log message to include a special unique identifier at the beginning of the log message.

I have tried replacing the console.log method with my own, but chrome complains with 
`Uncaught TypeError: Illegal invocation`

this is how I override it

    var orig = console.log;
    console.log = function( message )
    {
        orig( (window == top ? &#39;[root]&#39; : &#39;[&#39; + window.name + &#39;]&#39;) + &#39;: &#39; + message );

Any ideas?

It looks like the general answer is - NO - despite some confusing goose chases, the desired functionality is NOT achievable in the current versions of browsers.

I know `then()` has been around a little longer than `pipe()` so the latter must add some extra benefit, but what the difference precisely is eludes me. Both take pretty much the same callback parameters though they differ in name and the difference between returning a `Deferred` and returning a `Promise` seems slight.

I&#39;ve read the official docs over and over but always find them too &quot;dense&quot; to really wrap my head around and searching has found lots of discussion of the one feature or the other but I haven&#39;t found anything that really clarifies the different pros and cons of each.

**So when is it better to use `then` and when is it better to use `pipe`?**

It is apparent that `pipe()` is more powerful than `then()` and it seems the former can do anything the latter can do. One reason to use `then()` might be that its name reflects its role as the termination of a chain of functions processing the same data.

**But is there a use case that requires `then()`&#39;s returning the original `Deferred` that can&#39;t be done with `pipe()` due to it returning a new `Promise`?**
