Just `window.location = &quot;http://wherever.you.wanna.go.com/&quot;`, or, for local links, `window.location = &quot;my_relative_link.html&quot;`.

You can try it by typing it into your address bar as well, e.g. `javascript: window.location = &quot;http://www.google.com/&quot;`.

Also note that the protocol part of the URL (`http://`) is not optional for absolute links; omitting it will make javascript assume a relative link. 

The answers here work to open the page in the same browser window/tab.

However, I wanted the page to open in a new window/tab when they click a button.
(tab/window decision depends on the user&#39;s browser setting) 

So here is how it worked to **open the page in new tab/window**:

It doesn&#39;t have to be a button, you can use anywhere.

I am trying to do a very simple task here, I would like to be able to click a button on a page and have it take me to another page. I have tried window.location.href, and a bunch of other things and it does nothing. I have tried different platforms and different browsers, all with the same result. 

I know that it can call a function but I just cannot get the new page to load. Also this is all in my local file system and both pages live at the same level (but I have also tried to load an external page like www.apple.com).

Any thoughts?

JavaScript load a page on button click

I have several `div`s within the same form. What I am trying to do is to disable the &lt;kbd&gt;Tab&lt;/kbd&gt; key in one of the `div`s in the form without disabling the tab in the other `div`s in the same form.

**Example Form:**

- div1 - disable &lt;kbd&gt;Tab&lt;/kbd&gt;

As soon as I trigger the `load()` method (in Firefox, mind you), the video player dies.

Now I have found out that when I don&#39;t use multiple `&lt;source&gt;` tags, but instead just one `src` attribute within the `&lt;video&gt;` tag, the whole thing *does* work in Firefox.

So my plan is to just use that `src` attribute and determine the appropriate file using the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.whatwg.org/specs/web-apps/current-work/multipage/video.html#dom-navigator-canplaytype&quot;&gt;canPlayType()&lt;/a&gt; function.

Am I doing it wrong somehow or complicating things?

I&#39;m currently using a sync XMLHttpRequest and then eval for this, but debugging that code is very difficult...

I need to check the time amount to run GetTypes() after loading the dll.
The code is as follows.

    Assembly assem = Assembly.LoadFrom(file);
    sw = Stopwatch.StartNew();
    var types1 = assem.GetTypes();

    double time1 = sw.Elapsed.TotalMilliseconds;

I&#39;d like to unload and reload the dll to check the time to spend in running GetTypes() again.

 * How can I unload it? `assem = null` is good enough? 
 * Is there an explicit way to call garbage collector to reclaim the resource allocated to assem?
