Sorry for you, there is no equivalent in JSR-310 to JodaTime-Interval-class. I have doubts if this will ever come, but project lead Stephen Colebourne considers at least to support it in the scope of his external library Threeten-Extra, see this [issue][1].

If you are happy with JodaTime you should keep it. Not everything in JodaTime is ported to Java 8 (Interval is not the only issue).

**Update from 2014-12-13:**

The situation in Java-8 has not changed, but you might also consider other external libraries beyond Joda-Time. Either Threeten-Extra which now includes a very simple interval class since v0.9 (see the other answer of S. Colebourne here) or my library Time4J which offers [the range package][2] since v2.0.

JDK 8 JSR-310 does not have an `Interval` class. The concept of intervals was descoped to ensure that the rest of the library could be completed.

The [ThreeTen-Extra](https://github.com/ThreeTen/threeten-extra) project hosts additional non-JDK date-time classes, and v0.9 includes [`Interval`](https://www.threeten.org/threeten-extra/apidocs/org.threeten.extra/org/threeten/extra/Interval.html).

Note: Answer updated 2014-12-10 to include presence of `Interval` in ThreeTen-Extra.

Use [Range][1] class from Guava.

I think I followed all steps which I have found so far but the download link for my alpha test isn&#39;t working.

I uploaded the app 3 days ago, created a google group and added the group to the list of alpha testers.

I invited a few members and the app status shows published, after clicking on the link I can signup as alpha tester, but when I click on &quot;Download &lt;testapp&gt; from the Play Store&quot; the error message &quot;We&#39;re sorry, the requested URL was not found on this server&quot; comes.

Did I miss an additional step? Do I have to grant some special rights to the group members somehow?

--- update can this be caused by the permissions of the app?
under the apk info in the developer console I can see:

Java 8 introduces both [Lambda Expressions][1] and [Type Annotations][2].

With type annotations, it is possible to define Java annotations like the following:

    @Retention(RetentionPolicy.RUNTIME)

One can then use this annotation on any type reference like e.g.:

In Java 8 one can also replace the anonymous class in this example with a lambda expression:

But since the compiler infers the Consumer type argument for the lambda expression, one is no longer able to annotate the created Consumer instance:

    testTypeAnnotation(list, @MyTypeAnnotation(&quot;Hello &quot;) (p -&gt; System.out.println(p))); // Illegal!

One could cast the lambda expression into a Consumer and then annotate the type reference of the cast expression:

    testTypeAnnotation(list,(@MyTypeAnnotation(&quot;Hello &quot;) Consumer&lt;String&gt;) (p -&gt; System.out.println(p))); // Legal!

But this will not produce the desired result, because the created Consumer class will not be annotated with the annotation of the cast expression. Output:

    World!
    Type Annotations!

Two questions:

 1. Is there any way to annotate a lambda expression similar to annotating a corresponding anonymous class, so one gets the expected &quot;Hello World&quot; output in the example above?

 2. In the example, where I did cast the lambda expression and annotated the casted type: Is there any way to receive this annotation instance at runtime, or is such an annotation always implicitly restricted to RetentionPolicy.SOURCE?

The examples have been tested with javac and the Eclipse compiler.

I tried the suggestion from @assylias, to annotate the parameter instead, which produced an interesting result. Here is the updated test method:

Interestingly, it is also not possible to receive the name of the parameter (when compiling with javac -parameter), when using a lambda expression. I&#39;m not sure though, if this behavior is intended, if parameter annotations of lambdas have not yet been implemented, or if this should be considered a bug of the compiler.

Annotating the functional interface of a Lambda Expression

I have been checking the upcoming `Java update`, namely: `Java 8 or JDK 8`. Yes, I am impatient, there&#39;s a lot of new stuff, but, there is something I don&#39;t understand, some simple code:

the javadocs are

 I would appreciate if somebody created some simple real-life examples about `flatMap`, how you could code it in previous java versions `Java[6,7]` and how you can code the same routines using `Java 8`.

In Java 8, there is a new method [`String.chars()`][1] which returns a stream of `int`s (`IntStream`) that represent the character codes. I guess many people would expect a stream of `char`s here instead. What was the motivation to design the API this way?

I have heard that Java 8’s java.time API is much cleaner and can do much more than Joda-Time. But I cannot find examples comparing the two. 

 - What can java.time do that Joda-Time cannot?

How do I do that?

eg. `13/2/2014`

How do I extract the epoch value to `Long` from instances of `LocalDateTime` or `LocalDate`? I&#39;ve tried
