You can install it by first extracting all the files from the ISO and then overwriting those files with the files from the ZIP. Then you can run the batch file as administrator to do the installation. Most of the packages install on windows 7, but I haven&#39;t tested yet how well they work.

AFAIK, it is not possible to directly install WP8 SDK in Windows 7, because WP8 sdk is VS 2012 supported and also its emulator works on a Hyper-V (which is integrated into the Windows 8).

I use the code as follows:

I have built two RPM packages

 - `proj1-1.0-1.x86_64.rpm`
 - `libtest1-1.0-1.x86_64.rpm`

`proj1` depends on the file `libtest1.so` being present and it is reflected correctly in the RPM packages as seen here:

    user@my-pc:~$ rpm -qp --requires proj1-1.0-1.x86_64.rpm
    libtest1.so()(64bit)

    user@my-pc:~$ rpm -qp --provides libtest1-1.0-1.x86_64.rpm
    libtest1.so()(64bit)

The installation of `proj1` fails due to a missing dependency.

    user@my-pc:~$ rpm -ivh proj1-1.0-1.x86_64.rpm
    error: Failed dependencies:
	libtest1.so()(64bit) is needed by proj1-1.0-1.x86_64.rpm

How do I ensure that `libtest1-1.0-1.x86_64.rpm` is installed automatically during
the installation of `proj1-1.0-1.x86_64.rpm`?

I did try the `--aid` option with `rpm -i` as described [here](http://www.redhat.com/advice/tips/rhce/rpm.html) but it didn&#39;t work for me.

Is there any other way?

How to make rpm auto install dependencies

During the past years, I have installed many Python libraries with various Python versions. To make them ready to work immediately, I installed them blindly without control. Currently they&#39;re causing problems when I tried to install [pynest][1] which invokes numpy, scipy and matplotlib. After struggling, I am going to clean and reinstall Python and the libraries.

After investigation, I found Python 2.5/2.6/2.7/3.2 on my system, and each of them has some copies or other things at: (my OS == **Mac OS X 10.7.5 Lion**)

 - `/Library/Frameworks/`
 - `/opt/local/Library/Frameworks/`
 - `/opt/local/bin/`
 - `/Applications/`
 - `/usr/local/bin/` 
 - `/usr/bin/ `
 - `/System/Library/Frameworks/`

I know I&#39;m crazy to have these. Now I have removed all these except the things in `/System/Libarary/Frameworks` (I never remove any thing from `/System/Library/`). After the clean work, `which python` now gives `/usr/bin/python` which links to `/System/Library/Frameworks`. 

Now, is it a clear environment for me to reinstall python? How to double check that there&#39;s no other versions existing? How should I reinstall them to guarantee that they and their libraries won&#39;t be everywhere and have many copies again? 

I want to install a clean Python 2.7 onto a proper location, and make my system know exactly where it is and never install any libraries somewhere else. Please give me some advice that how to manage it like in a professional way.

For your information, here is my current `$PATH`, I think it should be modified:

**UPDATE**:

I&#39;m rethinking profoudly why it becomes so crazy. I believe it&#39;s because I installed things via:

 - `easy_install` / `macports` / `homebrew` / `fink` / `pip` sometimes;
 - `.dmg` sometimes; 
 - `.pkg` sometimes;
 - compile source code sometimes;

and they made things at different locations. I wonder what&#39;s the mechanism behind these ways? How do they choose target location? How to prevent them from messing things up?

Too many different Python versions on my system and causing problems

I have version 2.7 installed from early 2012. I can&#39;t find any consensus on whether I should completely uninstall and wipe this version before putting on the latest version.

&quot;Soft&quot;-removing old versions? Hard-removing/wiping old versions? Installing over top?

I&#39;ve seen somewhere a special install/upgrade process using a &quot;segmenting&quot; method of Python installations, keeping different versions separate and apart, but functional. Not sure if this is the standard, de facto way.

I also wonder if Revo gets too overzealous and may cause issues with wiping out still-needed remnants, like environment/PATH variables.

Error Message : Cannot find or open the PDB file

When I try to run `netsh wlan start hostednetwork`, I get the following message:

    The hosted network couldn&#39;t be started.
    The group or resource is not in the correct state to perform the requested operation.

I&#39;m running this with admin privileges, so it&#39;s not the notorious

    C:\Users\Kevin&gt;netsh wlan start hostednetwork
    You must run this command from a command prompt with administrator privilege.

I&#39;ve been using [Cygwin][1] (for a long time). Specifically, I use it (including gcc/g++) on Win7 for development work. I&#39;ve just recently noticed there now exists a [64-bit version][2]. 

I don&#39;t have a specific need which requires that I make the transition to 64-bit, but I was wondering whether to do it anyway. Is it advisable? What are the pros and cons? Are there known over-arcing issues when making the transition?

I would like to install Visual Studio 2013 on Windows 7 64-bit.

For some reason, the installer says &quot;Setup Blocked&quot; with an error &quot;This version of Visual Studio requires a computer with a newer version of Windows&quot;.

This error is not exactly descriptive of what&#39;s wrong. The least I could do was verify that I have the following installed :

1.  Windows 7 Professional (64-bit) with Service Pack 1
2.  Internet Explorer 10
    - Version: 10.0.9200.16750
    - Update Versions: 10.0.12 (KB2898785)
3. All Windows Updates that were available for installing on 11th of Dec. 2013.

OK this is one I&#39;ve been trying to figure out for a few days now. We have an application on Windows Phone 7 where phones join a multicast group and then send and receive messages to the group to talk to each other. Note - this is phone to phone communication.

Now I&#39;m trying to port this application to Windows Phone 8 - using the &#39;Convert to Phone 8&#39; feature in Visual Studio 2012 - so far so good. Until I try to test the phone to phone communication. The handsets seem to join the group fine, and they send the datagrams OK. They even receive the messages that they send to the group - however, no handset ever receives a message from another handset.

In order to simply test out the UDP stack, I downloaded the sample from MSDN found [here](http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/wpapps/Multicast-Sockets-Sample-51190c11) and I tested this on a pair of Windows Phone 7 devices and it works as expected. Then I converted to Windows Phone 8 and deployed to my handsets, again the devices seem to initiate their connection, and the user can enter their name. However, again the devices can&#39;t see or communicate with other devices.

Finally I implemented a simple communication test using the new DatagramSocket implementation, and again I see successful initiation, but no inter-device communication.

Last night I took the handsets home to test them on my home wireless network, low and behold I get successful device communication. 

So to recap - my legacy Windows Phone 7 code runs fine on my work network. The port to Windows Phone 8 (no actual code change) does not send inter-device communication. This code does work on my home network. The code runs with the debugger attached and there are no signs of errors or exceptions anywhere during execution.

The handsets I&#39;m using are: 

Windows Phone 7 - Nokia Lumia 900 (* 2), Nokia Lumia 800 (* 3)
Windows Phone 8 - Nokia Lumia 920 (* 1), Nokia Limia 820 (* 2)

These are all running the latest OS, and are in developer mode.
Development environment is Windows 8 Enterprise running Visual Studio 2012 Professional

I cant tell you much about the work wireless network - other than the Phone 7 devices have no trouble. 

As for the home wireless network i used, that&#39;s just a basic BT Broadband router with none of the &#39;out the box&#39; settings altered.

Clearly there is an issue with the way that the two network are configured, but there is also very clearly an issue with the way Windows Phone 8 implements UDP messages.

Any input would be appreciated as this is driving me mad right now.

UDP multicast group on Windows Phone 8

I recently released a Windows phone 8 app.
The app sometimes seem to crash randomly but the problem is it crash without breaking and the only info I get is a message on output that tells me there were an Access violation without giving any details.
So after releasing, from the crash reports I was able to obtain some more information, but they&#39;re kinda cryptical to me.

The info are:

    Problem function: unknown //not very useful
    Exception type: c0000005 //this is the code for Access violation exception
    Stack trace: 
    Frame    Image        Function      Offset 
    0        qcdx9um8960                0x00035426 
    1        qcdx9um8960                0x000227e2

I&#39;m not used to work with memory pointer et similia and I&#39;m not used to see a stack trace like that.

So I have those question:

 1. How should I interpret/read those information, what&#39;s the meaning of every piece of information?
 2. Is there a way to leverage those information to target my search for the problem?
 3. &lt;del&gt;Is there a way to get those information while debugging in VS2012&lt;/del&gt;

Notes: 

 - I&#39;m not asking what an Access Violation is
 - I tagged this as c# and c++ because my code is in c# but the exception is generated (I&#39;m semi-guessing) by c++ implementation for the WebBrowser component

I tried setting the Debug type to Native only, this let me obtain the same info I had in the crash report on the dev center. This way the debugger break when the exception is thrown and let me see the disassebled code, unfortunately there&#39;s no qcdx9um8960 .pdb file (even on Microsoft Symbol Server), so I don&#39;t know the function name that caused the error.    

How to interpret this stack trace

I have a WP8 app, which will send the current time to a web service.

I get the datetime string by calling 

    DateTime.ToString(&quot;MM/dd/yyyy HH:mm:ss.fff&quot;)

For most users it works great and gives me the correct string like `&quot;09/10/2013 04:04:31.415&quot;`. But for some user the resulted string is something like `&quot;09/14/2013 07.20.31.371&quot;`, which causes problem in my web service.

Is it because some culture format issue? How can I make sure the result string is delimited by colon instead of dot?

I am developing Windows Phone 8 app. I want to upload SQLite database via PHP web service using HTTP POST request with MIME type multipart/form-data &amp; a string data called &quot;userid=SOME_ID&quot;. 

I don&#39;t want to use 3rd party libs like HttpClient, RestSharp or MyToolkit. I tried the below code but it doesn&#39;t upload the file &amp; also doesn&#39;t give me any errors. How to upload file to server with HTTP POST multipart/form-data?

I have got [this][1] HttpClient from Nuget.

When I want to get data I do it this way:

    var response = await httpClient.GetAsync(url);
    var data = await response.Content.ReadAsStringAsync();

But the problem is that I don&#39;t know how to post data?
I have to send a post request and send these values inside it: `comment=&quot;hello world&quot;` and `questionId = 1`. these can be a class&#39;s properties, I don&#39;t know.

**Update** I don&#39;t know how to add those values to `HttpContent` as post method needs it. `httClient.Post(string, HttpContent);`
