When you have changes on your working copy, from command line do:

    git stash 

This will stash your changes and clear your status report

    git pull

This will pull changes from upstream branch. Make sure it says fast-forward in the report. If it doesn&#39;t, you are probably doing an unintended merge

    git stash pop

This will apply stashed changes back to working copy and remove the changes from stash unless you have conflicts. In the case of conflict, they will stay in stash so you can start over if needed.

if you need to see what is in your stash

    git stash list

If one tries to run any of the git-bisect commands from anywhere other than the root directory of the repository, one is told:

I am not able to clone or push to a git repository at Bitbucket in Eclipse:

It&#39;s weird, because a day before I didn&#39;t have any problem. I have downloaded the sts 3 times with no luck. This error keeps showing. Also I have installed SourceTree and it says &#39;This is not a valid source path / URL&#39;:

If I use git commands to import the project, it works, but I wan&#39;t to use EGit for this task, since I am a newbie with git. 

I don&#39;t know if this has to do with it, but in the same directory I have the android-adt-bundle. This one works pretty well, but the project lies on GitHub and not Bitbucket. Also, I&#39;m working with another person and he is able to fetch and push data from and to the Bitbucket repository. I have read lots of posts but none of them have helped me out. 

I&#39;m using Windows 7 btw.

&#39;cannot open git-upload-pack&#39; error in Eclipse when cloning or pushing git repository

I am getting this message while pushing to github repository.  Can you tell me step by step procedure to fix it?  I pushed only once and it was successful. But, when I updated a project and tried to push my second commit, it shows &quot;master rejected non-fast-forward&quot; and does not allow me to push.  Please explain the procedure.

I am using EGit on [Eclipse&amp;nbsp;v4.3][1] (Kepler). I want to commit and push my changes. I do a pull first and one file is conflicting. After manually resolving the conflict (local and remote are the same now), I am still running into problems.

Here are the error messages for each action:

Push to upstream

Is there a way I can stash just my staged changes? The scenario I&#39;m having issues with is when I&#39;ve worked on several bugs at a given time, and have several unstaged changes. I&#39;d like to be able to stage these files individually, create my .patch files, and stash them away until the code is approved. This way, when it&#39;s approved I can stash my entire (current) session, pop that bug and push the code.

Am I going about this the wrong way? Am I misunderstanding how git can work in other ways to simplify my process?
