This happens when the page itself defines a global variable called `console`, for example.  If the page is browser-sniffing to decide whether to define it, the behavior could differ in different browsers.

In the case of Firefox it also happens when Firebug is installed and its console is enabled, since that overrides the default `window.console`.

I had the same exact error message, and once I removed firebug, it went away.  

I&#39;m not saying you should remove firebug, I love firebug, but that is most probably the source of the error for you as well.  One more note, the error was still there even if firebug was turned off (disabled) for that particular page.

Here is a JavaScript workaround I used to restore console API after it was set to empty function by a script on the page (works in Firefox 46, tested in Firebug and in greasemonkey script):

I have a form input with an id of &#39;date_trans&#39;. The format for that date input (which is validated server side) can be any of:

- dd/mm/yyyy
- dd-mm-yyyy
- yyyy-mm-dd
- yyyy/mm/dd

However, before posting the form, I&#39;d like to check if the date_trans field has a date that is equal to today&#39;s date. Its ok if the date taken is the client&#39;s date (i.e. it uses js), since I run a double check on the server as well.

I&#39;m totally lost on how to do the date comparrison in jQuery or just plain old javascript. If it helps, I am using the [jquery datepicker][1]

I have a table with 100% width. If I put `&lt;td&gt;`s in it, they get spread out with equal length columns. However, I want all the columns except last to have as small a width as possible, without wrapping text.

What I did first was that I set `width=&quot;1px&quot;` in all `&lt;td&gt;`s except last (although deprecated, but the `style=&quot;width:1px&quot;` didn&#39;t have any effect), which worked fine until I had multi-word data in the column. In that case, to keep the length as small as possible, it wrapped my text.

Let me demonstrate. Imagine this table:

More explanation: What I need is to keep the columns as short as possible without wrapping words (last column should be as large as it needs to make the table width actually reach 100%). If you know LaTeX, what I want is how tables naturally appear in LaTeX when you set their width to 100%.

I *DO* know this question has been asked at least a thousand times in this website alone, but I HAVE read many of those threads, I DO consider myself very knowledgeable and rarely ever ask anything, instead prefer to do my own research.

However, THIS issue is so strange, without hope for real enlightenment (since this question HAS been discussed so often and still I could not benefit from reading there), here is my issue:

favicon.ico exists, and (locally hosted development website) `http://website/favicon.ico` displays the correct icon. Its size is a mere 198 Bytes, so the size limit I found in Firefox&#39;s about:config of 1024 Bytes is adhered to. According to the wisdom on favicons on the web the browser should ask for favicons on its own when there is nothing in the &lt;head&gt; of the page. However, my apache log clearly shows Firefox (9.01) never even asks for it.

Next: when I add 

    &lt;link rel=&quot;shortcut icon&quot; href=&quot;/favicon.ico&quot;&gt;

I still don&#39;t get a favicon.

This is my process right now:

 1. Save changes to print.css
 2. Open browser and refresh page.
 3. Right-click and choose Print &gt; Print Preview (Firefox, but any browser really)

It&#39;s step 3 that bugs me and I&#39;m wondering if it&#39;s possible to cut it out of the process with a plugin or something. Just choose to view a page as print media, and then simply refresh to see the changes.

How do you test your print stylesheets? Do you always click print preview after a refresh?
