Facelets is a XML based view technology. XML has only [five predefined entities][1]. The `&amp;nbsp;` is not among them. It works only when used in plain HTML or in legacy JSP (note: it doesn&#39;t work in JSPX as that&#39;s also XML based!).

To fix this, you either need to declare the entity yourself in the doctype of the very XHTML file containing the `&amp;nbsp;` entity,

&lt;!-- language: xhtml --&gt;

    &lt;!DOCTYPE html [
        &lt;!ENTITY nbsp &quot;&amp;#160;&quot;&gt; 
    ]&gt;

or, better, use the (hexa)decimal notation instead:

&lt;!-- language: none --&gt;

    &amp;#xA0; or &amp;#160;

In an average IDE it should be trivial to perform a &quot;find and replace in all files&quot; and replace every occurrence of `&amp;nbsp;` by `&amp;#xA0;`.

Seem I can&#39;t get this to work. I made a simple console application (which depend on `websocket++` library) which need `Boost` libraries.. but when I try to compile I get:

&gt; fatal error LNK1104: cannot open file &#39;libboost_system-vc110-mt-gd-1_51.lib&#39;

However, I did the bjam which created the lib in `(boost_root)/stage/libs` and I linked the path to the libs to the compiler `C++/Additionnals includes`.

If I look in `(boost_root)/stage/libs` the file  `libboost_system-vc110-mt-gd-1_51.lib` is not there. It is called `libboost_system-vc110-mt-sgd-1_51.lib` instead.

Any idea?

Find component by ID in JSF

I have a `String` variable which contains carriage returns and new lines `\r\n`.

I&#39;m presenting it using `&lt;h:outputtext&gt;`.

There are lot of materials out there differentiating `value` attribute and `binding` attribute in JSF.

I&#39;m interested in how both approaches differ from each other. Given:

Since php 5.4 **html_entity_decode** introduces four new flags, with a minimal explanation

    ENT_HTML401	Handle code as HTML 4.01.
    ENT_XML1	Handle code as XML 1.
    ENT_XHTML	Handle code as XHTML.

I want to understand what are they for. In which cases are they significant?    

My guess, (but may I be wrong) is that any different standard, encodes some unusual chars but any other don&#39;t, so in order to respect that, they are here.

What do the ENT_HTML5, ENT_HTML401, ... modifiers on html_entity_decode do?

I want an optional line-breaking character that is always invisible that works with the `word-wrap: break-word;` CSS style.

Here are some specifics. My goal is to break apart long links in reasonable places. These characters are a good place to start: `-`, `.`, `_`, `/`, `\`. This is not a Rails-specific question, but I wanted to share some code I&#39;m using now:

I am revising some **XHTML** files authored by another party. As part of this effort, I am doing some bulk editing via **Linq to XML**.

I&#39;ve just noticed that some of the original source XHTML files contain the [`&amp;quot;` HTML entity][1] in text nodes within those files. For instance:
