You need to define positioning for `#primaryNav`. Z-index only affects positioned elements.
I just added this in firebug and it fixed:

    #primaryNav {
      position: relative;
     }
I would avoid using a negative z-index. Simply change z-index of `#page` to 0.

As jlego already said a relative position should fix it.
By the way I would suggest ensuring that there is no shadow left or right of the `#primaryNav`. Since `#primaryNav` has a width of 100% a shadow on the side makes a horizontal scrollbar appear.

For fixing this you could set a `overflow:hidden` to `#iframe`

I took a look at your site and I think the `border-bottom` property of `#primaryNav` is covering up your shadow.


How do you pass a date time (i need it to the second) to c# using jquery and mvc3. This is what I have

Pass a datetime from javascript to c# (Controller)

I want to resume my app from a status bar notification in the exact same manner as when the user taps its icon in the launcher.

That is: I want the stack to be in the same state as it was before the user left it.

The problem when setting a pending intent on the notification is that it always targets a specific activity. I don&#39;t want this. I need to resume the application just as the launcher does.

So if the user is in activity A, I want to resume activity A. If he has launched activity B from activity A, then I want B to be displayed when the user taps the notification, and the stack to be restored so that A gets resumed when the user taps the back button in B.

There are couple of other questions of questions with similar titles, but none address my problem.

I tried to set a z-index of 100 to `#primaryNav` and a z-index of -100 to #page, but that does not fix my problem.

I&#39;m trying to track down a z-index problem.  I&#39;m looking at the page in IE9&#39;s DOM Inspector, and I just can&#39;t figure it out.

I have one element with a z-index of 10000, and another with a z-index of 7000, and yet the z-index 10000 is drawing below the z-index 7000.  Clearly somewhere in the hierarchy, something is setting a stacking context, but I&#39;ve been browsing up and down the hierarchy and I haven&#39;t been able to find it.

Nothing other than these two elements, so far as I can see, has a z-index set.  And nothing as a opacity value set. and I&#39;m seeing this in FF5 and IE9, so it&#39;s not the old IE&lt;7 stacking context bug.

Do any of the browsers have a tool that will tell me which element is setting a stacking context?

*Is an element&#39;s z-index style its absolute stack order, or its stack order relative to its parent?*

For instance, suppose I have the following code:

1) What are the actual standards regarding z-index (on this topic specifically)?
2) How do individual browsers vary in their actual implementation of this?

Is there a maximum / minimum possible value for the CSS `z-index` property? &lt;br/&gt;
Do different browsers have different maximum / minimum accepted values? &lt;br/&gt;
How will browsers handle a high / low value?

I thought I read somewhere once about a max `z-index` value. Maybe I&#39;m wrong. &lt;br/&gt;

I want to place the bottom image (the tag/card) below the div above it. So you can&#39;t see the sharp edges. How do I do this?

    z-index:-1 // on the image tag/card
    
or

    z-index:100 // on the div above

doesn&#39;t work either. Neither does a combination of anything like this. How come?


Why does z-index not work?

I cannot get `z-index` working on a `iframe` that contains a pdf file with IE8. It works with Google Chrome.

I need to show child element which is bigger than it&#39;s parent element, but without removing overflow:hidden; is this possible?

My CSS is

How can I change the code sample to make the button the same in both browsers? I do not want to use JavaScript based hyperlinks because they do not work with space bar on keyboard and it has to have an `href` URL which is not a clean way to handle things.

Show Child Div within Hidden Parent Div

I want to have a group of images display horizontally across the page. Each image has a few link below it so I need to put a container around each image/link-group.

The closest I have gotten to what I want is putting them in divs that float:left. The problem is I want the containers to align center not left. How can I achieve this.

I want a group of radio buttons to look like a group of toggle buttons (but still function like radio buttons). It&#39;s not necessary that they look exactly like toggle buttons.

How can I do this only with CSS and HTML?

EDIT: I will be satisfied making the little circle disappear and changing the style when the button is checked/unchecked.
