Re-install Xcode developer tools

    xcode-select --install

I fixed this issue by downloading and installing the &#39;Command Line Tools (macOS sierra) for Xcode 8&#39; package from [Apple Developer Downloads](https://developer.apple.com/download/more/).

Be sure to select `Command Line Tools (macOS 10.12) for Xcode 8` and not the one for 8.1 beta unless you have Xcode 8.1 beta installed.

I just recently upgraded to macOS High Sierra Version 10.13.3 and has existing xcode. My git command lines have the same issue. &quot;$xcode-select --install&quot;  works perfectly for me. 


Had same problem and with putting the git&#39;s path into profile directly it will not ask the xcode anymore (if you dont need to use xcode).

1. download the git, https://git-scm.com/download/mac and install it.
2. in your profile add to path, i.e. export PATH=$PATH:/usr/bin (mine git is in /usr/bin).
3. open new terminal.

Alone - **xcode-select --install** did not work for me.

Had to do all 3 steps: 

1. Download X-code from app store (if not present in Applications folder)
2. $xcode-select --install   
a. May need to update after install using *softwareupdate* in command line.  $sudo softwareupdate -i &quot;Command Line Tools (macOS High Sierra version 10.13) for Xcode-9.1&quot;

3. $sudo xcodebuild -license

I&#39;m pretty new to elastic search and would like to write a query that is concerned about two fields. I mean the content of the fields contains the specified substring. I have a document containing fields, like this:

    name: n
    tag: t

I tried this:

But the query results in the following error:

Is there a way to do this in elasticsearch?

In iOS 9.3, the `didReceiveRemoteNotification` method gets called on both of the following occasions. 

1) When the push notification is received 
2) When the user launches the app by tapping on the notification.

But on iOS 10, I notice that the `didReceiveRemoteNotification` method does **NOT** fire when the user launches the app by tapping on the notification. It&#39;s called only when the notification is received. Hence, I cannot do any further action after the app is launched from notification.

What should be the fix for this? Any idea?

Command Line Tools bash (git) not working - macOS Sierra final release candidate

I have just upgraded from OS X 10.11 "El Capitan" to 10.12: "Sierra", and when I try to access git commands inside a terminal, I get the following error:

Please help me if anyone have solution.

Updating [RMagick][1] and [Imagemagick][2] is a painful expierence. I have updated the Imagemagick version on my mac (MacOS El Capitan Version 10.11.5) with homebrew for one project in Ruby 2.3 to `6.9.5-9` 

    $ convert --version
    Version: ImageMagick 6.9.5-9 Q16 x86_64 2016-09-09

Now an older project in Ruby 1.8.7 refuses to work with the error message &quot;this installation of RMagick was configured with ImageMagick 6.8.9 but ImageMagick 6.9.5-9 is in use&quot;. Thus I uninstalled &quot;rmagick&quot;, but it can not be installed again

    $ gem install rmagick -v 2.16.0
    Building native extensions.  This could take a while...
    ERROR:  Error installing rmagick:
    ERROR: Failed to build gem native extension.

    checking for /usr/local/opt/gcc46/bin/gcc-4.6... yes

And if it can not be installed, the whole application can not be started. I tried all the answers from [here][3], and none of them works on MacOS :-( I reinstalled imagemagick and pkg-config with homebrew, and tried various version of RMagick without success. 2.16.0 is the latest version of [RMagick][4] currently. 

MagicWand seems to be used in ImageMagick version &gt; 6.9, and it can be found on the machine: 

    find /usr/local -name MagickWand.h
    =&gt; /usr/local/Cellar/imagemagick/6.9.5-9_1/include/ImageMagick-6/wand/MagickWand.h

    find /usr/local -name MagickWand.pc
    =&gt; /usr/local/Cellar/imagemagick/6.9.5-9_1/lib/pkgconfig/MagickCore.pc

It does not work even if I specifiy the these paths during the gem install (same error as above) :-(

    C_INCLUDE_PATH=/usr/local/Cellar/imagemagick/6.9.5-9_1/include/ImageMagick-6 PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig gem install rmagick

UPDATE:

The error only occurs for Ruby 1.8.7, it is possible to install RMagick for Ruby 2.0 and Ruby 2.3. Ruby 1.8.7 and ImageMagick 6.9.5 do not seem to be compatible.

 - Ruby 1.8.7 x
 - Ruby 2.0.0 ✓ 
 - Ruby 2.3.1 ✓

RMagick installation: Can&#39;t find MagickWand.h

I&#39;m setting up my development environment in the new **macOS Sierra** .

First of all, I installed **Rbenv**, **Ruby (2.3.1)**, **Homebrew** and so the latest version of **MySQL (5.7.15)**.

    $ brew install mysql
    $ mysql.server start

Ok, MySQL was initialized. Time to install the **mysql2** gem...

    $ gem install mysql2 -- --with-mysql-config=/usr/local/Cellar/mysql/5.7.15/bin/mysql_config

But it didn&#39;t work. &#128542;

Can&#39;t install mysql2 gem on macOS Sierra

I tried to run `brew install redis-cli` and googled, but found nothing. Any ideas?

I&#39;ve installed postgres using brew (`brew install postgres`)  in my MacBook and I am currently running it using brew services (`brew services list`  displays postgres as a running service). However, when I try to run `psql` I get following error.

Cannot connect to Postgres server running through brew services

I am working on a project for one of my lectures and I need to download the package psycopg2 in order to work with the postgresql database in use. Unfortunately, when I try to pip install psycopg2 the following error pops up:

As you can see I can type diacritical characters properly but on `git log` the output is somehow escaped. According to [`UTF-8` encoding table][2] the codes between angled brackets (`&lt;` and `&gt;`) from the output correspond to the previously typed `git config` parameters.

I have tried to set `LESSCHARSET` environment variable to `utf-8` as sugested in [one of the answers for similar issue][3] but then the output is garbled:

I know `.git/config` is encoded properly with `utf-8` as it&#39;s handled by `gitk` as expected.

I have a problem with Bash on Ubuntu on Windows. If I type &quot;open (filename)&quot; on Mac terminal, it opens the file with the right program but if I try to use it on Windows bash, it says: &quot;Couldn&#39;t find a file descriptor referring to the console&quot;.

I have also tried xdg-open and gnome-open but none of them works. Can someone explain how to fix the issue and how open command works?

I seem to have a problem with performance of &quot;sbt test&quot; (which includes looking up localhost names/IP addresses) after upgrading to macOS Sierra. On a previous version of OS X it took about 40-50 seconds to finish. macOS Sierra times are much higher than that. Last run I did was around 15 minutes. Compile times are about the same as on &#39;El Capitan&#39;.

I&#39;m the only one from my team to try this new macOS so I can&#39;t tell if it&#39;s only happening on my mac or is it a universal issue.

My colleague had a similar issue on Ubuntu and it was related with random number generation slowing down the tests - https://stackoverflow.com/questions/27173833/slow-service-response-times-java-securerandom-dev-random

Unfortunately, that didn&#39;t work for me. Originally I tried that on JDK 8u54 and then tried updating to JDK 8u102 and that didn&#39;t help as well.


P.S. I&#39;m running Macbook Pro Mid-2015 2.8GHz i7, 16GB ram, 1TB SSD.

Code Sign Error in macOS Monterey, Xcode - resource fork, Finder information, or similar detritus not allowed

PDFtk Server seems to be hanging indefinitely on MacOS Sierra. Looks similar to the [problem it had on El Capitan](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/32505951/pdftk-server-on-os-x-10-11).

I&#39;m trying to run this command: 

    pdftk test1.pdf test2.pdf cat output out.pdf verbose

And am getting no output, just an indefinite hang. Same with every other command I&#39;ve tried.

PDFtk --version:
