You can opt-out of this truncation by setting the `Limit length of lines displayed in the console to:` option to 0 (see the final option in the dialog):

I would like to have only one legend that correctly displays the shapes, the colors and the line types (the interaction(Type, Method) legends is the closest to what I would like, but it does not have the correct shapes/line types).

I know that if I use scale_xxx_manual and I specify the same labels for all legends they will be merged, but I don&#39;t want to have to set the labels manually: **if there are new Methods or Types, I don&#39;t want to have to modify my code**: a want something generic.

As pointed in answers below, there are several ways to get the job done in this particular case. All proposed solutions require to manually set the legend line types and shapes, either by using `scale_xxx_manual function`s or with `guides` function.

However, the proposed solutions still don&#39;t work in the general case: for instance, if I add a new data frame to the data set with a new &quot;method3&quot; Method, it does not work anymore, we have to manually add the new legend shapes and line types:

How to merge color, line style and shape legends in ggplot

I have tried a number of methods to no avail. I have data in terms of a date (YYYY-MM-DD) and am trying to get in terms of just the month and year, such as: MM-YYYY or YYYY-MM.

Ultimately, I would like it to look like this:

    ID    Date         Month_Yr
    1     2004-02-06   2004-02
    2     2006-03-14   2006-03
    3     2007-07-16   2007-07
    ...   ...          ...

I am doing this in hopes of plotting money earned on average in a month, from a number of orders, over a period of time. Any help, or a push in the right direction would be much appreciated.

At the risk of getting hit with a [mods &quot;too broad a question&quot; hammer][3], I want to ask given the plethora of interactive R `Shiny` tools and packages emerging, when do you use which one?

1. **Shiny** - to me only downside your project needs to run from shiny server but seems the best choice.

2. **shinydashboard** - Shiny but has nice Value boxes for callouts. 

3. **flexdashboard** - write it up in Rmd. What does that gain you that straight Shiny does not? Perhaps, useful to email to a client provided you are happy to pass over data? I have been playing around with `flexdashboard` but its inability to work with datatable (library(DT)) makes me feel like it needs a few more iterations.

Looking at other answers, I am not alone in [asking this question][1].

The creators are providing lots of galleries out there to showcase their packages/approach, but how do you know which path to go on? 

What are the clear advantages of using one over the other?

R + Shiny which hammer? straight Shiny, flexdashboard or shinydashboard?

I am creating a `ggplot` chart where I want to have some arrows between two points. The main task is easily done with `geom_line(arrow = arrow())`. However, I want to have some &quot;beautiful&quot; thick arrows. Resizing the arrow via `size=` doesn&#39;t help since it messes up the head of the arrow completely. I illustrate my Problems:

Create some sample data and a plot:

I have a for loop that is something like this:

run a for loop in parallel in R

So I&#39;m using RStudio and storing my files on Google Drive (the version with folders on your system, acting like Dropbox). I&#39;m using it because it provides a lot more space for free than Dropbox, and I need that space for the projects I&#39;m working on.

When I attempt to write any document at all -- an R script, an RMarkdown file, etc... -- I get the error mentioned in the title. This doesn&#39;t happen using Dropbox. I have found answers for this question for Dropbox, but the solution (tell Dropbox not to sync the Rproj file) doesn&#39;t seem applicable to Google Drive (if it is, please correct me). 

Currently, I&#39;m pausing Google Drive, which is fine, but I often forget to resume it and that causes headaches.

I am operating matrices with R 3.1 and RStudio 0.99.

I have my R Script and with cmd+enter it works without problem. 

I created an Rmd for reporting but I have this error

Is there a way to bypass that error?

I&#39;m struggling to create a reproducible example for this, but I suspect others will know what I mean.  Why does R sometimes seem to get stuck with a backlog of warnings/error messages that it repeats again after subsequent commands?  E.g. you get some warning message `Bad whatever system choking` after running some code, which repeats again after you enter an innocuous instruction like `x &lt;- 5`. This sometimes happens after several entries of `x &lt;- 5`, although it normally stops after one or two.

R has been like this for me for at least 5 years, across many versions on both Windows and Mac.  Am I alone?  Does anyone know if it has been identified as a bug?  I normally work with RStudio so I wonder if it&#39;s related to the IDE.

Persistent warnings from earlier commands with RStudio

I am trying to understand at a high level what the differences between `R Markdown` and `R NoteBook`. I know they are interrelated but I would like to figure out how they are related. My understanding is this:

I know R Notebooks are really R Markdown documents but I am confused about the terminologies.

RStudio new file option has both `R Markdown` and `R NoteBook` and selecting either of them opens an `R Markdown` file but with minor differences. **So just trying to figure out why are there two options and what is the difference between the two?**

I understand R Notebooks are newly introduced and R Markdown has been there for a while. Part of the confusion could be because I never used `R Markdown` before R Notebook was introduced so my related or more specific question is

**What is R NoteBook doing differently than just using R MarkDown or what new capabilities is R NoteBook bringing?**

I was trying to execute a simple program in IntelliJ IDEA as a static web project. I&#39;m newbie and I&#39;m learning web development with Node.js. I took help from the official website of IntelliJ IDEA, but the error was same. Though, I configured the settings and Project structure also.

I&#39;ve put Visual Studio Code on [OneDrive][1], for the purpose of syncing it with its settings across my devices.

However, extensions are stored in `%USERPROFILE%\.vscode\extensions` on Windows. 

Is it possible to change this folder&#39;s location so I can put it in the main Visual Studio Code folder?

At first I thought that copying the extensions in the `resources\app\extensions` of Visual Studio Code folder will be a nice workaround, but that doesn&#39;t work.

I&#39;ve also searched for a solution on the [documentation page][2] and in the user settings, with no results.

I recently installed version 2017.2 of IntelliJ IDEA. I would like to keep my settings from my old 2017.1 version. IntelliJ&#39;s [support site](https://www.jetbrains.com/help/idea/install-and-set-up-intellij-idea.html#r_Install_and_set_up__product_.xmld320216e288) shows the following dialog box that is supposed to show up when you run the newly installed version for the first time.

However, neither when I was installing the new version, nor when I ran the new version for the first time, was I ever shown this dialog box. I attempted to import settings from my old version via  the `File | Import Settings` menu option, but it expects a `.jar` file that would have been exported from an old version by going to `File | Export Settings`, which I did not do in the old version before installing the new one.

I do still have all of the config from my old version in `%MY_HOME_DIR%/.IntelliJIdea2017.1`.
How can I import those settings in the same way that the above dialog box would have done had it shown up when I opened the new version for the first time?

`kubectl get` command has this flag `-o` to format the output.

Is there a similar way to format the output of the `kubectl describe` command?

For example:
