When publishing a reporting services report. Where does the actual .RDL file sit on the server?

I can redownload the .RDL file via browsing through the report manager? But where is this file situated on the reporting services server?

I&#39;m currently building a MS Reporting Services Report that gets rendered to excel. I&#39;m trying to figure out how to set up the report so that it creates multiple Worksheets (Tabs) of the data on the report. I understand that entering a page break in the report gives you a new worksheet, however, is there a way to name each tab instead of it default to (worksheet 1, worksheet 2) etc.

Anyone know how this is done?

Is there an easy way to track who is running a given report in SSRS 2005, and at what time they are running that report?  We have about 80 reports in our SSRS implementation, and are trying to see if there&#39;s any that we can safely put out to pasture.  If we could easily see somehow which reports aren&#39;t being used, that would help us.  Any ideas?

I am trying to display a different logo based on the users franchise number.

Parameter = UserFranNr

If the value &lt;&gt; 99 and &lt;&gt; 87, then the embedded image to display is ID0. (Embedded image names are strings.)

This works with nested IIFs but seems to be the right time/place to use `SWITCH`.

(There is a strong possibility that more franchises will use their own logo in future.)

Report Builder 3.0 SWITCH expression DEFAULT/ELSE

I&#39;m trying to debug someone else&#39;s SQL reports and have placed the underlying reports query into a query windows of SQL 2012.

One of the parameters the report asks for is a list of integers.  This is achieved on the report through a multi-select drop down box.  The report&#39;s underlying query uses this integer list in the `where` clause e.g.

    select *
    from TabA
    where TabA.ID in (@listOfIDs)

I don&#39;t want to modify the query I&#39;m debugging but I can&#39;t figure out how to create a variable on the SQL Server that can hold this type of data to test it.

e.g. 

    declare @listOfIDs int
    set listOfIDs  = 1,2,3,4

There is no datatype that can hold a list of integers, so how can I run the report query on my SQL Server with the same values as the report?

I have a two-page SSRS report. When I exported it to PDF it was taking 4 pages due to its width, where the 2nd and 4th pages were displaying one of my fields from the table. I tried to set the layout size in report properties as width=18in and height =8.5in.

It gave me the whole table in a single page of PDF, but I am still getting the 2nd and 4th pages blank. 

Is the way I am doing it incorrect?  How else can I get rid of those blank pages?

In the layout screen of an SSRS designer e.g. Visual Studio, I have lost the report data panel. 

It has disappeared and I can&#39;t remember what it is called in order to get it back. 

This usually lists the following items:

- Built-in Fields
- Parameters
- Images
- Data Sources
- Datasets

Previously it was in the same area as the general Toolbox and Server explorer panels. 

Does anyone know how to restore it?

I have a tablix with lots of rows that span over multiple pages. I have set the Tablix property Repeat header rows on each page but this does not work. I read somewhere that this is a known bug in Report Builder 3.0. Is this true? If not, is there something else that needs to be done?

My SSRS report does not show all the labels on the horizontal axis. Please see below.

Note how the red arrows point to the few that do show. So my question is, where are the rest of the labels? Each bar should have one. 

For the chart I&#39;m adding number data for the bars, and another field for the Category Groups. That field in Category Group is for the labels.

Does anyone know why some are missing?

Also, a second but less important question, why is the order of the bars not the same order as the dataset?

I have been studying SSRS 2005 / 2008 in the past weeks and have created some server side reports. For some application, a colleague suggested that I look into RDLC for that particular situation. I am now trying to get my head around the main difference between RDL and RDLC. 

Searching for this information yields fragmented information at best. I have learned that:

 - RDLC reports do not store information about how to get data.
 - RDLC reports can be executed directly by the ReportViewer control.

But I still don&#39;t fully understand the relation between the RDLC file and the other related systems (the Reporting Server, the source database, the client). 

In order to get a good grasp on RDLC files, I would like to know how their use differs from RDL files and in what situation one would choose RDLC over RDL. Links to resources are also welcome.

A [thread on the ASP.NET forums][1] discusses this same issue. From it, I have gained some better understanding on the issue.

A feature of RDLC is that it can be run **completely client-side** in the ReportViewer control. 

 - This removes the need for a Reporting Services instance, and even removes the need for any database connection whatsoever, but:
 - It adds the requirement that the data that is needed in the report has to be provided manually. 

Whether this is an advantage or a disadvantage depends on the particular application. 

In my application, an instance of Reporting Services is available anyway and the required data for the reports can easily be pulled from a database. Is there any reason left for me to consider RDLC, or should I simply stick with RDL?

I migrated our reporting services from version 2008 to another server version 2008 R2. In version 2008 the reports work fine on Safari. The new version 2008 R2 the reports do not show up at all. All I see is the parameter section and then the report is blank. Same in Chrome. According to Microsoft Safari IS supported if in a limited fashion. The reports are not complex. In fact I created a report that only had a line on it to see if it would show up in Safari but no, that report is completely blank as well. Did anyone make SSRS reports viewable on Safari? Do I have to mess with some kind of a configuration setting?

I have some simple reports in `SSRS 2008 R2`, but they won&#39;t display at all in Safari or Chrome. According to Microsoft&#39;s Books Online, these browsers are supported in limited fashion. However, I can&#39;t see anything after the data &quot;Loading&quot; clock completes. The parameter bar and bread crumb navigation section at the top of the page are all there. Also, I can Save/Export to any format on Safari and Chrome. It just won&#39;t display the report section itself, which is just blank.

Am I supposed to use certificates and secured connections (currently not setup with HTTPS, only HTTP)? Are there any server-side configurations that need to be tweaked? Has anyone had success displaying _ANY_ reports on Safari/Chrome using previous SSRS versions (2005)?

I&#39;m using **`Safari 5.0.4`** and **`Chrome 10.0.648.151`**. I know the similarity for these two browsers is they both are based on [WebKit][1].

The report renders successfully on Internet Explorer 8 (of course) and Firefox 4.0.

I would really appreciate it if someone can shed some light on this.

I have an SSRS report that calls out to a stored procedure.  If I run the stored procedure directly from a query window, it will return in under 2 seconds.  However, the same query run from an 2005 SSRS report takes up to 5 minutes to complete.  This is not just happening on the first run, it happens every time.  Additionally, I don&#39;t see this same problem in other environments.

Any ideas on why the SSRS report would run so slow in this particular environment?

What does an &quot;item&quot; denote, though? I even tried editing the `RDL` and deleting all references to  the Stored Procedure I need to use called `prc_RPT_Select_BI_Completes_Data_View`.

Could this possibly have to do with the fact that the Stored Procedure uses Dynamic SQL (the `N&#39;`  notation)?

In SSRS, why do I get the error &quot;item with same key has already been added&quot; , when I&#39;m making a new report?

I have an SSRS report which contains more than 20 columns in a tablix.  Our users have decided that the data is OK, but they want the columns moved around (*sigh!*).

It seems like it should be easy to re-arrange the columns (move column 3 to column 1, swap columns 4 &amp; 5 etc.). But, drag and drop does not seem to work and the only solution seems to be deleting the original column and re-inserting it in the correct place (and re-applying any expressions &amp; formatting already created for the column).

Is there any easier way of doing this?  Please note that I don&#39;t want a programmatic solution, but just need to change it once in design mode.
