Is it possible to convert a HTML page to PDF using PHP, and if so, how can it be done?

Specifically, the page is an invoice generated dynamically. So I would like it loaded using:

    http://example.com/invoices/3333

And the HTML output would have to be converted to PDF.

Any good libraries that do this will be fine.

I&#39;m attempting to create a PDF file from an HTML file. After looking around a little I&#39;ve found: [wkhtmltopdf][1] to be perfect. I need to call this .exe from the ASP.NET server. I&#39;ve attempted:

With no success of any files being created on the server. Can anyone give me a pointer in the right direction? I put the wkhtmltopdf.exe file at the top level directory of the site. Is there anywhere else it should be held?

I’m trying to convert XML data into PDF files from a web page and I was hoping I could do this entirely within JavaScript. I need to be able to draw text, images and simple shapes. I would love to be able to do this entirely in the browser.

Creating page headers and footers using CSS for print

I know this has been asked before, but I&#39;m still undecided on which PDF generation framework to use for my current project. 

My requirements

 - on-the-fly generation of PDF documents (mainly order forms, invoices)
 - Java based
 - easy to layout
 - should be open source
 - easy to change layout

A lot of people seem to use _iText_, but I have some concerns (apart from the changed licence) regarding separation of concerns: In an HTML context there&#39;s good MVC support, where I usually stick to Spring MVC and FreeMarker to separate logic and layout. I&#39;m a little bit worried that with iText you end up mixing code and layout a lot.

I am aware, that _Apache FOP_ could be a solution here, but then again I find XSLT tedious to work with and I read that FOP can be slow when it comes to huge throuput of many documents?

I also considered _JasperReports_, but from my understanding this is more suited for  reports containing tabular datasets rather than single documents such as invoices which require a lot of layout formatting?

Any thoughts on this?

Out of simple curiosity, having seen [the smallest GIF](http://probablyprogramming.com/2009/03/15/the-tiniest-gif-ever), what is the smallest possible valid PDF file?

What is the smallest possible valid PDF?

I need to automatically generate a PDF file from an exisiting (X)HTML-document. The input files (reports) use a rather simple, table-based layout, so support for really fancy JavaScript/CSS stuff is probably not needed.

As I am used to working in Java, a solution that can easily be used in a java-project is preferable. It only needs to work on windows systems, though.

One way to do it that is feasable, but does not produce good quality output (at least out of the box) is using [CSS2XSLFO][1], and Apache FOP to create the PDF files. The problem I encountered was that while CSS-attributes are converted nicely, the table-layout is pretty messed up, with text flowing out of the table cell.

I also took a quick look at Jrex, a Java-API for using the Gecko rendering engine. 

Is there maybe a way to grab the rendered page from the internet explorer rendering engine and send it to a PDF-Printer tool automatically? I have no experience in OLE programming in windows, so I have no clue what&#39;s possible and what is not.

Do you have an idea?

For my django powered site, I am looking for an easy solution to convert dynamic html pages to pdf.

Pages include HTML and charts from Google visualization API (which is javascript based, yet including those graphs is a must).

Im creating pdfs server side with lots of graphics so maximizing real estate is a must but at the same time ensuring users printers can handle the tight margins is a must. 

Does anyone have an idea what safe values I can use for the margins when authoring the pdfs. In the past Ive used work and home printers with margins of about one cm with no problems but of course I can&#39;t take this as the defacto minimum. 

Oh and I don&#39;t really want to allow the user to specify the margin (50% lazyness 50% will get complicated.)

Ive googled but couldn&#39;t find anything concrete. (average minimum margin printing)

using ImageMagick, what command should i use to convert a PDF to PNG? I need highest quality, smallest file size. this is what I have so far (very slow by the way):

    convert -density 300 -depth 8 -quality 85 a.pdf a.png

Looking at what Gmail does when a user &quot;view&quot; a PDF, the quality is awesome and the file size very minimal. The DPI is just 96 (I have to set a density of 300 to get anything decent). Anyone know how GMail does it? Thanks.

I don&#39;t want to write any type of delays i.e. 	await page.waitFor(2000);

I can not do waitForSelector because the page has charts and graphs which are rendered after calculations.

Using the **CoreGraphics** framework is tedious work, in my honest opinion, when it comes to programmatically drawing a PDF file.

I would like to programmatically create a **PDF**, using various objects from views throughout my app.

I am interested to know if there are any good PDF tutorials around for the iOS SDK, maybe a drop in library.

I&#39;ve seen this tutorial, [PDF Creation Tutorial][1], but it was mostly written in C. Looking for more Objective-C style. This also seems like a ridiculous way to write to a PDF file, having to calculate where lines and other objects will be placed.

iOS SDK - Programmatically generate a PDF file

I have an HTML (not XHTML) document that renders fine in Firefox 3 and IE 7.  It uses fairly basic CSS to style it and renders fine in HTML.

I&#39;m now after a way of converting it to PDF.  I have tried:

  - [DOMPDF][1]: it had huge problems with tables.  I factored out my large nested tables and it helped (before it was just consuming up to 128M of memory then dying--thats my limit on memory in php.ini) but it makes a complete mess of tables and doesn&#39;t seem to get images.  The tables were just basic stuff with some border styles to add some lines at various points;
  - [HTML2PDF and HTML2PS][2]: I actually had better luck with this.  It rendered some of the images (all the images are Google Chart URLs) and the table formatting was much better but it seemed to have some complexity problem I haven&#39;t figured out yet and kept dying with unknown node_type() errors.  Not sure where to go from here; and
  - [Htmldoc][3]: this seems to work fine on basic HTML but has almost no support for CSS whatsoever so you have to do everything in HTML (I didn&#39;t realize it was still 2001 in Htmldoc-land...) so it&#39;s useless to me.

I tried a Windows app called Html2Pdf Pilot that actually did a pretty decent job but I need something that at a minimum runs on Linux and ideally runs on-demand via PHP on the Webserver.

What am I missing, or how can I resolve this issue?

 - Many applications like RepliGo, Aldiko, Mantano, ezPdf in android market make this type of annotation in their pdf viewer shown in the below image.
 -  I tried in many ways to implement this annotation but I failed. I have a pdf viewer for android and separate java code for annotations using iText for drawing lines. 
 -  My question is can i able to implement iText in android. If it&#39;s possible, which package do I have to import?
 -  Also in some applications, a canvas method is used for drawing lines. Is it possible to include this canvas method in android instead of using an annotation?. The goal would be to have the same features that annotations have.

how to save DOMPDF generated content to file?

I asked about getting iTextSharp to render a PDF from HTML and a CSS sheet before [here][1] but it seems like that may not be possible...  So I guess I will have to try something else.

Is there an open source .NET/C# library out there that can take HTML ***and*** CSS as input and render it correctly?  

I must reiterate... the library MUST be free and preferably something with a fairly liberal license.  I&#39;m working with basically no budget here.

Open Source HTML to PDF Renderer with Full CSS Support

When my app runs (or when I run from commandline) the wkhtmltopdf command I get the following error: (showing it from command line)

I noticed the lib is indeed in the `/usr/lib` folder but not the `/lib` folder. Does it matter which one of these it is in? Is there any way to get it to recognize it?
