In rare occasions, the overlay on my map (small blue dot) gets a weird glare (big blue area on right) (as seen in picture). Sometimes zooming in or out will fix it, but not always. Can&#39;t find anything on why this would happen. Is it something to do with how it is rendered?

Swift MKMapView Polygon Overlay glitching

I have two UITextFields which users can enter in a latitude and longitude, these co-ordinates are then used to create a pin on an MKMapView.

I want find a way to validate whether the values they enter are actual GPS co-ordinates or just a load of rubbish. Is there any way of doing this?

Has anyone else, who&#39;s using maps in their iOS 6 apps, noticing extremely high memory use to the point of receiving memory warnings over and over to the point of crashing the app?

I&#39;ve ran the app through instruments and I&#39;m not seeing any leaks and until the map view is created the app consistently runs at around ~3mb Live Bytes. Once the map is created and the tiles are downloaded the Live Bytes jumps up to ~13mb Live Bytes. Then as I move the map around and zoom in and out the Live Bytes continuos to climb until the app crashes at around ~40mb Live Bytes. This is on an iPhone 4 by the way. On an iPod touch it crashes even earlier.

I am reusing annotation views properly and nothing is leaking. Is anyone else seeing this same high memory usage with the new iOS 6 maps? Also, does anyone have a solution?

I&#39;m trying to update an MKMapView by removing all annotations outside the visible area, and adding and removing some annotations inside the visible area. This is my code:

This gives me the error **-[__NSCFSet objectAtIndex:]: unrecognized selector sent to instance 0x13cd40** after the final line in which I cast newAnnotations to an NSArray then add the annotations. Is there something about casting an array to a set that causes this? If so, is there a way round it?

I am using MKMapView and have added a number of annotation pins to the map about a 5-10 kilometre area. When I run the application my map starts zoomed out to show the whole world, what is the best way to zoom the map so the pins fit the view?

My initial thinking would be to use MKCoordinateRegionMake and calculate the coordinate centre, longitudeDelta and latitudeDelta from my annotations. I am pretty sure this will work, but I just wanted to check I was not missing anything obvious.

Code added, BTW: FGLocation is an class that conforms to `MKAnnotation`, locationFake is an `NSMutableArray` of these objects. Comments are always welcome ....

Zooming MKMapView to fit annotation pins?

I may be doing something really stupid here as I&#39;ve done it before and it worked and now...

Created a new iPad project, in the details view I added a MKMapView, added the MapKit.framework to the project, added the property / etc. to the header.  Go to run the project and get a SIGABRT with 

&gt; ****Terminating app due to uncaught exception &#39;NSInvalidUnarchiveOperationException&#39;, reason: &#39;Could not instantiate
&gt; class named MKMapView&#39;**

I found http://mithin.in/2009/06/22/using-iphone-sdk-mapkit-framework-a-tutorial/ but, like I said, I&#39;ve already added framework.  What am I missing?

I have a view on the iPad that I&#39;m adding an `MKMapView` to that is say half the height of the full screen.  However, when I try to pinch out on the iOS Simulator it doesn&#39;t work since the to nubs fill the entire iPad view on the simulator.

And so, with the map view half the screen and I press the &lt;kbd&gt;Option&lt;/kbd&gt; key on the keyboard I cannot grab the map to pinch out.

Anyone know how to handle this?

I&#39;m not sure what I am doing wrong but I try to catch touches on a `MKMapView` object. I subclassed it by creating the following class :

I want to get the center location every time a user drags the map using `CLLocationCoordinate2D centre = [locationMap centerCoordinate];` but I&#39;d need a delegate method or something that fires as soon as the user navigates around with the map.

I&#39;m currently working with the mapkit and am stuck.

I have a custom annotation view I am using, and I want to use the image property to display the point on the map with my own icon. I have this working fine. But what I would also like to do is to override the default callout view (the bubble that shows up with the title/subtitle when the annotation icon is touched). I want to be able to control the callout itself: the mapkit only provides access to the left and right ancillary callout views, but no way to provide a custom view for the callout bubble, or to give it zero size, or anything else.

My idea was to override selectAnnotation/deselectAnnotation in my `MKMapViewDelegate`, and then draw my own custom view by making a call to my custom annotation view. This works, but only when `canShowCallout` is set to `YES` in my custom annotation view class. These methods are NOT called if I have this set to `NO` (which is what I want, so that the default callout bubble is not drawn). So I have no way of knowing if the user touched on my point on the map (selected it) or touched a point that is not part of my annotation views (delected it) without having the default callout bubble view show up.

I tried going down a different path and just handling all touch events myself in the map, and I can&#39;t seem to get this working. I read other posts related to catching touch events in the map view, but they aren&#39;t exactly what I want. Is there a way to dig into the map view to remove the callout bubble before drawing? I&#39;m at a loss.

Any suggestions? Am I missing something obvious?

How to customize the callout bubble for MKAnnotationView?

With the `MKMapView` there&#39;s an option called &quot;Show users current location&quot; which will automatically show a users location on the `map`.

I&#39;d like to move and zoom to this location when it&#39;s found (and if it changes).

The problem is, there doesn&#39;t appear to be any method called when the user location is updated on the `map`, so I have nowhere to put the code that will `zoom/scroll`.

Is there a way to be notified when an `MKMapView` has got (or updated) the user location so I can move/zoom to it? If I use my own `CLLocationManager` the updates I get do not correspond with the updates of the user marker on the map, so it looks silly when my map moves and zooms seconds before the blue pin appears.

This feels like basic functionality, but I&#39;ve spent weeks looking for a solution and not turned up anything close.

How do I zoom an MKMapView to the users current location without CLLocationManager?

I have an MKMapView and want to draw a circle of 1000m radius around the user location.

On the surface it would seem that implementing the [mapView:viewForAnnotation:][1]  map view delegate method, and adding a custom MKAnnotationView for the users location, would be a perfect solution. It would look something like this:

However annotations on the map don&#39;t scale when you zoom in and out of the map. 

So I tried adding an overlay (because overlays scale with the map), using the [MKCircle][2] class and setting its co-ordinates to the latest co-ordinates from my locationManger/map view delegate. However as the [coordinate property][3] of MKCircle is readonly, I&#39;m having to remove the overlay then add a new one each time the user moves. Causing a noticeable flicker as it happens.

Is there any way to make an annotation scale seamlessly as the map view is scaled in and out? Or is there a good way to make an overlay move seamlessly with changes in the users location?

I would be very grateful for your help :)

Draw a circle of 1000m radius around users location in MKMapView

I want to display an image in my `MKMapView` instead of little _rock pin_.

I am expecting my image _pinks.jpg_ to be on the map, pinning the location instead of default pin view (_rock pin shaped_). But still I am getting the default image of the pin.

MKMapView: Instead of Annotation Pin, a custom view

I have a GPS coordinate (latitude, longitude) and I quickly want to place a single pin on a MKMapView showing that position. Everything works just fine, but as I only need a single pin with no callout is there a quicker way to do this or is what I have below what needs to be done?
