I have started to learn *React* out of curiosity and wanted to know the difference between React and React Native - though could not find a satisfactory answer using Google. React and React Native seems to have the same format. Do they have completely different syntax?

Using jQuery I&#39;m programmatically generating a bunch of `div`&#39;s like this:

I&#39;m trying to write a jQuery plugin that will provide additional functions/methods to the object that calls it. All the tutorials I read online (have been browsing for the past 2 hours) include, at the most, how to add options, but not additional functions.

Here&#39;s what I am looking to do:

//format div to be a message container by calling the plugin for that div

or something along those lines.
Here&#39;s what it boils down to: I call the plugin, then I call a function associated with that plugin. I can&#39;t seem to find a way to do this, and I&#39;ve seen many plugins do it before.

In short, the current structure is close to version 1.0 since it’s already used in production. We’re not planning to add big new feature or breaking API changes until 1.0.

Marionette is for sure the most comprehensive and stable library out there. It addresses several aspects of JS app development with Backbone. For example, it has a strong view layer which Backbone itself leaves completely void. Of course, you will find that some of the aspects won’t meet your demands and you might feel the need to set up a structure around Marionette.

In contrast, Chaplin focusses on a rather small, but very important aspect of Backbone apps, namely the overall app structure and module lifecycle. In this regard Chaplin is very opionated and is more like a framework than a library (like in “your code calls a library, a framework calls your code”). Chaplin provides some central classes which sit above individual application modules and control the overall app state. This gives your app a conventional structure like Ruby on Rails does it for example.

In Chaplin, you declare some routes which map to controllers, and Chaplin starts the controller once the route match. It also takes care of the disposal of old controllers, and the showing and hiding of main views, which a controller is supposed to create. This is the basic idea, but Chaplin takes care of the ugly details to make this run smoothly.

There are two principals which come along with this structure:
- Modularization, decoupling and sandboxing
- Cross-module communication using Publish/Subscribe and Mediator(s)

Of course these patterns are not new in the software development world, and Chaplin is not the only library which applies them to Backbone.js apps.

Chaplin also provides enhancements for the View layer, for example a highly sophisticated CollectionView, but in total not as much as Marionette with its Regions and Layouts. But it’s relatively easy to write such meta classes using the means Chaplin Views provide.

When I run the above code, I get the **Error: 10 $digest() iterations reached. Aborting!** error in my console. 

I have created [jsfiddle](http://jsfiddle.net/JSWorld/7ecYd/1/) for same. 

The sort predicate is being initialized only inside the ng-repeat and also the limit is being applied on the number of objects. so I feel having both the sortby and limitTo watchers together is the reason for error.

If the $scope.reverse is false (ascending order of score), then it does not error.

Can anyone help me understand what is wrong here? Much appreciate your help.

I have a website developed on Drupal. I use a module called collapsiblock (it is basicly a JQuery plugin) to achieve accordion like effect. It is working fine with me (although it is in Beta). But I want to modify it so that when the user clicks on one item of the accordion the other items will collapsed.

In its current stats, it is working in a way that when the user click on one item, it will check if the item is already collapsed or expanded and it will make the item the opposite. That means if the user clicks on one item it will expand and if he/she clicks on another item it will also expand, but it will not collapse the previously clicked item.

You can see the code below. I know where should I add the code to collapse and how to collapse and expand. My question is: How do I select all the items that have the class &#39;.collapsiblock&#39; except the one that the user has clicked??

Note: the item that has the class &#39;.collapsiblockCollapsed&#39; get collapsed and if this class is removed from the item it get expanded.

I am more into front end development and have recently started exploring Backbone.js into my app. I want to persist the model data to the server.

Could you please explain me the various way to save the Model data (using json format). I am using Java on server side. Also I have mainly seen REST being used to save data. As i am more into front end dev, i am not aware of REST and other similar stuff.

It would be great if someone could please explain me the process with some simple example.

Ways to save Backbone.js model data?

It is said that Backbone handles all the higher level abstractions, while jQuery or similar libraries work with the DOM, normalize events and so on..

Could someone please help me understand this statement with any simple practical example.

Also one important feature of MVC framework like Backbone, Knockout is that it keeps the model (data) and the view in sync. But this seems to be specific at a page-level and not across the entire application. So can we have the model/data and the view synced across multiple pages..(kind of global)


Backbone.js and jQuery

I have an ASP.NET MVC 4 project and I&#39;m stuck on an architectural decision on which JavaScript framework or library to use Angular.js or Knock.js. I am currently leaning towards using Angular.js over Knockout.js, but don&#39;t want to find out midway during project development I made a mistake.

Here is some background: 

 - We need two-way model data binding
 - We need the ability to test views. I want to be able to do end to end unit testing. Also, we are using continuous integration. 
 - &quot;Save Changes&quot; functionality. i.e. if a user makes changes on a page we need the ability to detect any changes and prompt the user to save their changes before they navigate away from the page
 - &quot;Notifications&quot; functionality. i.e. user will be logged on approximately 8 hours and will need to be notified and updated of changes made by other users (errors, data status changes and the like)
 - We need to &quot;future proof&quot; our application. Currently the business unit hasn&#39;t decided if we will need to support mobile devices, but I know it&#39;s just a matter of time.
 - Our team consists of developers with varying experience levels from very junior to senior developers.
 - Currently our models are complicated and may get even more so
 - We need to also consider RAD, code reuse, and maintainability

Since we are unable to change from our current ASP.NET MVC 4 architecture to use something on the server side like Web API I have some [concerns](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/17262309/razor-templates-views-and-angular-js) in trying to implement Angular.js with MVC 4. Will this cause us to have two models one on the server and one on the client? 

I am not looking for a &quot;which is better&quot; discussion about Angular and Knockout because I think they both have their pros and cons. I am looking for actual code on implementing a JavaScript framework or library in an ASP.NET MVC 4 application. I need a solution that I can live with 2+ years from now :)

Any ideas or suggestions? Maybe the answer is not Knock or Angular, but some other JavaScript framework?

 

Angular.js and ASP.NET MVC 4

**I am brand new to [AngularJS][1]** and like what I&#39;ve seen so far, especially the model / view binding. I&#39;d like to make use of that to construct a simple &quot;add to basket&quot; piece of functionality.

This is my controller so far:

Pass variables to AngularJS controller, best practice?

I&#39;ve been investigating a few of the JavaScript frameworks such as Backbone.js and Batman.js for a while and whilst I really like them, I have one niggling thing that I keep coming back to. That issue is accessibility.

As a web developer I&#39;ve always tried to make my websites and applications with accessibility in mind, especially using the idea of progressive enhancement.

Clearly out of the box these new JS frameworks don&#39;t gracefully degrade, so I was wondering what are other developers thoughts on this issue and what are you doing about it.  After all the accessibility of a website / app isn&#39;t really an optional thing as it&#39;s part of the law in many countries.

Maybe I&#39;m just being overly zealous on this subject, and not appreciating how far things have come in terms of accessibility.

I have been asked to build a small web application for one of our clients and think it might be a good opportunity to try out a different framework for building web applications. Most of the applications we build are based on asp.net web forms and we have no yet done anything in an MVC architecture but I am eager to start building web applications in a more structured manner with the right tools.

I have been researching things like asp.net MVC and the likes which look quite good but I am wondering is there anything to be said for using something like the Google AngularJS Framework.

If possible I would still like to be able to write my server side code using c# and I have not researched AngularJS enough to know if this is even possible, although I assume I could use web services. 

Has anyone had any experience with developing an app using AngularJS and if so, how was it and can you point me in the right direction for some tutorials?

Google AngularJS Framework - Worth the risk?

Which one do you recommend me to start learning?

I know there could be lots of answers and each one could prefer different ones, but this could help to guide me a little and have some critics of some of the most popular frameworks.
