Is it possible to instruct Fiddler to only show me traffic directed to a specific host name?
In other words, can Fiddler traffic be filtered for Host?

I am developing against localhost. This morning right after I used fiddler I started getting this error on chrome (works correctly in firefox)

&quot;You cannot visit localhost right now because the website uses HSTS. Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later.&quot;

Now localhost works in chrome only if fiddler is running. I already made sure the proxy redirects that fiddler makes are corrected when fiddler shuts down.

I also tried importing the certificate to my trusted root and restarting the browser (and also the machine).

I would prefer to not disable vshub; I just want it to be more quiet when I am using fiddler.  Right now it spams everything else out, and I cannot do general debugging.

Does anybody know a workaround?  Can I block vshub from showing up in fiddler without blocking the rest of locahost?

Recently, I came across an issue where a CGI application is not responding. Symptom is Firefox displaying:

&gt; Transferring data from localhost...

But the thing is I cannot see any traffic from Firebug&#39;s Net panel, and the browser just stays on the same stage forever.

I am thinking about the ways to debug this application but I cannot see the source code or any of its compiled Java/C++ components, therefore I reckon a HTTP network level of diagnostics is a good start.

I have little experience in Fiddler and Wireshark, just wondering will they get better feedback/statistics in the HTTP network level? I&#39;ve heard Wireshark is advanced but could possibly introduce a large volume of traffic so system admins don&#39;t like it very much. At this time I think Firebug doesn&#39;t really show me enough information.

I need to collect information so that I can then forward to client as proof.

I need to monitor my application from incoming http `POST` and `GET` requests originating from outside and sometimes inside the machine. 

Is this possible?

Been using fiddler but this only does outgoing not incoming (from outside the machine) or have I configured it incorrectly?

This is for my web app that is meant to be receiving a `POST` from an external server.

I&#39;ve got Fiddler to decrypt https traffic. which works just fine.

But there are some requests that are shown as &quot;Tunnel to&quot; port 443. Also the protocol of these requests are shown as HTTP instead of HTTPS.
I do not see the decrypted content of these requests.

Fiddler - tunnelled http requests to port 443

I have Fiddler installed on my machine. I have installed the Fiddler Root Certificate to decrypt HTTPS traffic, but it only works in FF and IE, not in chrome. Chrome does not trust Fiddler&#39;s certificate and does not allow me to connect to any tunneled connections. 

I tried looking on Fiddler2.com&#39;s page for a plugin but I don&#39;t see anyhing.

I have a WebAPI that works without issue.  I have tested locally and deployed to my server and configured this service in IIS to use Basic Authentication.  I am able to browse to my service and I receive the Authentication challenge I expect and all works swimmingly!  Now I want to use Fiddler to test this and I have constructed a POST to a specific url and I got a 401 (Unauthorized) error.  So I decided to add a base64 string in my Request Header and I am now getting a 500 error.

What I would like to know is, does my Request Header look correct?  I am obviously going to obfuscate my Host and base64 string which contains the format username:password for the Authentication challenge.

Use Fiddler with Basic Authentication to access RESTful WebAPI

I&#39;ve been using Fiddler for quite a while, but all of a sudden it no longer captures internet traffic.  I&#39;m on Chrome 29 and Fiddler v4.4.5.1.  I&#39;ve checked all filters and rules and nothing is on.  I&#39;ve deleted my rules file, turned on and off capture traffic, and a few other things with no luck.  I even uninstalled and re-installed Fiddler to see if that would help but to no avail.

What am I missing?

-  Troubleshoot Filters has no effect.
-  I see no activity in the log tab beyond &quot;Fiddler Running...&quot;
-  I&#39;ve tried multiple browsers and none show internet traffic in fiddler
-  `http://localhost.fiddler:8888/` does not work
-  `http://127.0.0.1:8888` works and shows the fiddler echo service.

Is there a way to view the Websocket traffic?

Only Websocket headers are visible on the initial handshake.

Everything disappears after the response:

There have been several documented ways to write *scripts* to intercept traffic and change headers, but I would like to do it without writing a script - this tool needs to be used by the testers and writing/modifying scripts all the time by different testers may be annoying.

I received a long Fiddler trace (with a complicated scenario) and need to correlate the requests with application logs.

Unfortunately, while Fiddler displays the requests chronologically, it doesn&#39;t display the timestamps of the request. To access that information (which is recorded) I have to right-click each line and look in the pop-up window with the properties. This is very time-consuming when having to comb through hundreds of lines. Looking at the raw capture data is not much better as each request has its own file and I do need the Fiddler interface.


Pedantic note: I&#39;m aware there isn&#39;t a single timestamp to show (below are all the timestamps that are recorded). ClientConnected would be fine (or any other, as long as it&#39;s the same, that allows me to correlate the logs visually).

If I close fiddler, the program runs fine without any exceptions, producing the html on the url i am connecting to.

alternatively, if i specify `System.setProperty(&quot;https.proxyPort&quot;, &quot;443&quot;);`, instead of: `System.setProperty(&quot;https.proxyPort&quot;, &quot;8888&quot;);`, it runs and prints out all html, without exceptions, even while fiddler is open, in capturing mode, but there is still no capturing from fiddler at all.


Then if I set these system properties through eclipse&#39;s jvm arguments like: `-DproxySet=true -DproxyHost=127.0.0.1 -DproxyPort=8888`, the same exact exception happens again, so long as the fiddler app is running, both in capturing and non capturing mode. If i close fiddler, the program will run perfectly fine.

If i use: `System.setProperty(&quot;http.proxyHost&quot;, &quot;127.0.0.1&quot;);`  instead of: `System.setProperty(&quot;http.proxyHost&quot;, &quot;localhost&quot;);`, it runs fine with fiddler application running, both cap-/non capturing mode, but also NO captured traffic.

I have Windows 8.1 installed on my computer and regularly use Fiddler to capture web traffic.

Recently, however, when I open Fiddler and have it capture web traffic, my Internet connectivity dies. The error I get when I open IE is &quot;This page cannot be displayed.&quot; In Chrome, I get &quot;The web page is not available&quot; with the following error: `Error code: ERR_CONNECTION_RESET`. 

Fiddler doesn&#39;t even capture any of the requests going out. The weird thing is, this problem randomly starts, but then in an hour or two, it&#39;s fine. I don&#39;t restart Fiddler; it just suddenly starts working again.

I tried following the steps in [Fiddler and Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1][1], but that didn&#39;t help.

Why is Fiddler having this problem, and how can I fix it?

Fiddler causes my Internet access to stop working

I asked a question here a while back on how to hide my http request calls and make them more secure in my application. I did not want people to use fiddler 2 to see the call and set up an auto responder. Everyone told me to go SSL and calls will be hidden and information kept safe.

I bought and installed an SSL Certificate and got everything set up. I booted up fiddler 2 and ran a test application that connect to an https web service as well as connected to an https php script.

Fiddler 2 was able to not only detect both requests, but decrypt them as well! I was able to see all information going back and fourth, which brings me to my question.

What is the point of having SSL if it made zero difference to security. With or without SSL I can see all information going back and fourth and STILL set up an auto responder.

Is there something in .NET I am missing to better hide my calls going over SSL?

I am adding a new part to this question due to some of the responses I have received. What if an app connects to a web service to login. The app sends the web service a username and a password. The web service then sends data back to the app saying good login data or bad. Even if going over SSL the person using fiddler 2 could just set up an auto responder and the application is then &quot;cracked&quot;. I understand how it could be useful to see the data in debugging, but my question is what exactly should one do to make sure the SSL is connecting to the one it was requesting. Basically saying there cannot be a middle man.

What is point of SSL if fiddler 2 can decrypt all calls over HTTPS?

Can node.js be setup to recognize a proxy (like Fiddler for example) and route all ClientRequest&#39;s through the proxy?

I am using node on Windows and would like to debug the http requests much like I would using Fiddler for JavaScript in the browser.

Just be clear, I am not trying to create a proxy nor proxy requests received by a server. I want to route requests made by `http.request()` through a proxy. I would like to use Fiddler to inspect both the request and the response as I would if I was performing the request in a browser.

I am using a .Net Client application to connect to a Web Service hosted on my own IIS over HTTP channel. I have done the fiddler debugging earlier with a Website hosted on my IIS and watching the traffic generated between my browser and the WebSite. But when it comes to watching the traffic generated by a .Net client program talking to the web service using HttpClient class, strangely the fiddler does not seem to be able to tap that traffic and does not show anything. Is .Net HttpClient bypassing the WinInet API to connect to the service which results in the fiddler not able to watch the traffic?
