How to run an EXE file in PowerShell with parameters with spaces and quotes

I have an [EXE][1] file that I should like to sign so that Windows will not warn the end user about an application from an &quot;unknown publisher&quot;. I am not a Windows developer. The application in question is a screensaver generated from an application that generates screensaver applications. As such I have no influence on how the file is generated.

I&#39;ve already found out that I will need a [code signing][2] certificate from a [CA][3] like [Verisign][4] or instantssl.com. What I don&#39;t understand is what I need to do (if at all possible) to sign my EXE file. What is a simple explanation?

Mel Green&#39;s answer took me further, but signtool wants me to specify what certificate to use in any case. Can I get a free code signing certificate somehow to test if this will work for me at all?

Also please specify which certificate kind is the correct one. Most sites only mention &quot;code signing&quot; and talk about signing applications that are actually compiled by the user. This is not the case for me.

Signing a Windows EXE file

I&#39;m trying to convert a fairly simple Python program to an executable and couldn&#39;t find what I was looking for, so I have a few questions (I&#39;m running Python&amp;nbsp;3.6):

The methods of doing this that I have found so far are as follows

 1. downloading an old version of Python and using `pyinstaller/py2exe`
 2. setting up a virtual environment in Python&amp;nbsp;3.6 that will allow me to do 1.
 3. downloading a Python to C++ converter and using that.

Here is what I&#39;ve tried/what problems I&#39;ve run into.

 - I installed `pyinstaller` before the required download before it (pypi-something) so it did not work. After downloading the prerequisite file, `pyinstaller` still does not recognize it.
 - If I&#39;m setting up a virtualenv in Python&amp;nbsp;2.7, do I actually need to have Python&amp;nbsp;2.7 installed?
 - similarly, the only python to C++ converters I see work only up until Python&amp;nbsp;3.5 - do I need to download and use this version if attempting this?

As part of our build process I need to set the version information for all of our compiled binaries. Some of the binaries already have version information (added at compile time) and some do not. 

I want to be able to apply the following information:

  - Company Name 
  - Copyright Notice
  - Product Name 
  - Product Description
  - File Version 
  - Product Version

All of these attributes are specified by the build script and must be applied after compilation. These are standard binaries (not assemblies) compiled with C++ Builder 2007.

The previous code works. **But I&#39;m not able to pass parameters in**. MyExe.exe accepts parameters. An other problem is when PathToExe has blank spaces. ProcessBuilder seems not working. For example:

I consuming my service stack using EXE project (startup task for azure application) in that I have copied following service stack&#39;s DLL &amp; some Azure&#39;s DLLs in to EXE project.

When I build this EXE project then Azure DLLs will be bundled with my EXE but service stack&#39;s DLL will not be bundled with EXE, because to run my EXE on any machine I need to copy all service stack&#39;s DLL manually.

I&#39;d like to create a Windows .exe for a Java program. Previously, I&#39;ve used JEXECreator for this, but it&#39;s not entirely satisfactory because:

- The executable sometimes works on the machine on which it was created but not on others.
- The program is commercial; if you use the trial version, it adds a nag screen to your application.

I don&#39;t need the generated .exe to work if Java is not installed on the target machine (in fact, I think this is impossible).

I&#39;ve had Eclipse for Java on my computer for a few years, and decided to install the CDT and learn C. I installed both `MinGW` and `Cygwin` and the CDT detects and tries to use them when I make a new project. 

I choose `File &gt; New C++ Project` and choose `Hello World C++ Project` and the `CygwinGCC` toolchain. I name the project &quot;asdf&quot; and hit &quot;Build Debug&quot; in the toolbar. The compiler completes without error. I hit Run and nothing happens. 

Browsing to the project directory manually and running asdf.exe gives me an error saying:  
**`&quot;The program can&#39;t start because cygwin1.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.&quot;`**  

The same thing happens using MinGW, only a different dll is missing.  
**What do I need to do to have a usable .exe?**  
(I&#39;m running Windows 7 x64 and the newest version of Eclipse and the CDT.)

How do I open an .exe from another C++ .exe?

I&#39;d like to know how is it possible to write something as simple as an Hello World program just by using an Hex Editor. I know that I could use an assembler and assembly language to this at a near machine level but I just want to experiment with really writing machine code in a toy example such as Hello World.

This could be a simple DOS .COM file that I can run on DOSBox. But it would be nice if someone could provide an example for an .EXE file for running it directly on my Windows PC.

This is just pure curiosity. No... I&#39;m not thinking of writing programs directly in binary machine code (I don&#39;t even usually write assembly code, I just use C/C++ as my most low level tools most of the time). I just want to see if that&#39;s possible to do it, because probably someone had to do it in the very early days of computers.

P.S.:
I know that there are similar questions about this topic around but none provide a working example. I just want a simple example so that it can help me understand how compilers and assemblers generate an executable file. I mean... someone must have done this by hand in the past for the very first programs. Also, for the Windows EXE format there must have been someone at Microsoft that wrote the first tools to generate the format and the way that Windows itself reads it and then executes it.
