Why is my SVG failing to load in Vector Asset Studio

How to export this type of `svg` to vector drawable? Is this even possible? Or should I look for a new `svg`?

With the new android support update, vector drawables get backward compatibility. I have a vector image with various paths. I want the color of the paths to change on click of a button or programmatically based on an input value. Is it possible to access the name parameter of the vector path? And then change the color.

Android Studio now supports vector assets on 21+ and will generate pngs for lower versions at compile time.  I have a vector asset (from the Material Icons) that I want to change the fill color.  This works on 21+, but the generated pngs do not change color.  Is there a way to do this?

Change fill color on vector asset in Android Studio

In my application, I have to set a large icon for a notification.
LargeIcon must be a Bitmap, and my drawables are vector images (the new feature in Android, see [this link][1])
The problem is when I try to decode a resource that is a vector image, I get a null returned.

Here is the sample of code :

Getting Bitmap from vector drawable

When I use VectorDrawable assets in a textview or imageview I get a runtime crash when using &quot;android:DrawableRight&quot; / &quot;android:DrawableEnd&quot; / &quot;android:DrawableStart&quot; / &quot;android:DrawableLeft&quot;.

The app will compile fine without any warnings.

I am using 

 - Gradle 1.5 
 - Support Library 23.2 (&#39;com.android.support:appcompat-v7:23.2.0&#39;)

What I have found though is that I can programmatically assign SVG&#39;s in Java without crashes like this.

    TextView tv = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.textView);
    tv.setCompoundDrawablesWithIntrinsicBounds(null,null, getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.ic_accessible_white_36px),null);

(I suspect this is a support library bug for 23.2.) 

But is it possible to use drawableRight etc for SVG assets ?

Is it possible to use VectorDrawable in Buttons and TextViews using android:DrawableRight?

I am attempting to use a `VectorDrawable` in a `LayerList` without scaling the vector. For example:

The desired effect is for the check icon to be centered in the layer drawable, without scaling. The issue is, the layer-list above causes the check icon to be scaled to fit the layer size.

I *can* produce the desired effect if I replace the vector drawable with PNGs for each density and modify the layer-list as such:

How to center vector drawable in layer-list without scaling

I have made the opposite conversions (SVG to `VectorDrawable`) manually or using web tools. 

But I am having hard time to do the opposite thing. I have `VectorDrawable` but I am not sure how to convert it to SVG and I can find zero online tools to do it. 

Does anyone have experience with this and what are the steps or tools to do it?

I&#39;ve noticed that Android now supports some kind of vector drawing, via a class called &quot;[**VectorDrawable**][1]&quot; (and also [**AnimatedVectorDrawable**][2], BTW). I&#39;ve found about it by looking at what&#39;s new on [**Android-Studio**][3].

I wonder if this would be the end of having to put multiple files into multiple folders (`mdpi`, `hdpi`, `xhdpi`, etc). That would be great and might minimize apps sizes on some cases.

The questions

I&#39;d like to ask a few questions regarding this new class:

1. Is it possible to use it in older Android versions, maybe via a library of even the support library of Google?

2. I&#39;m not familiar with how it works, but can Lollipop handle SVG files? Can it do anything that is achievable on SVG files?

3. Is there any sample/tutorial/video of using it, other than the documentation I&#39;ve found?

VectorDrawable - is it available somehow for pre-Lollipop versions of Android?

I have an vector drawable I imported from an SVG asset. Sometimes, I have to adjust the size. Usually I update width and height. What I can&#39;t work out is how viewportwidth and height also impact the svg. It seems changing these dimensions can push the svg out of view within the visible area. 

What do these units of measurement represent ? What is it&#39;s relationship with width and height respectively ? The [documentation from Google][1] is, (as usual), woefully inadequate. Could someone please elaborate ?

What is the impact of viewportwidth/height on Android drawables

I am working on an Android project and I chose `&lt;vector&gt;` to display icon because it is adaptable and dynamically, however, I just can run this app on devices running Android, which have API 21 or higher. How to use VectorDrawables in Android API lower than 21?

I am using Design Support Library version **23.4.0**. I have enabled the gradle flag:

    defaultConfig {
        vectorDrawables.useSupportLibrary = true
    }

I am using build tools version **23.0.2**, but still, I am getting `Resources$NotFoundException` on KitKat or lower.

It is occurring when I use `android:drawableLeft` or `imageView.setImageResource(R.drawable.drawable_image)`.

And yes, I am putting this on every activity where I am using drawables 

    static {
        AppCompatDelegate.setCompatVectorFromResourcesEnabled(true);
    }

Is this a bug of the support library?


Support library VectorDrawable Resources$NotFoundException

I&#39;m facing a problem with the new backward compatibility with VectorDrawables.
In the Support Library 23.2 was a new feature for backward compatibility with Android VectorDrawables indroduced. 

I have an ImageView which is a SelectorDrawable assigned to. This Drawable holds several VectorDrawables so I thought I should use app:srcCompat for compatibility. But it does not work on my Galaxy S2 with android 4.1.2.

When using this SelectorDrawable with srcCompat I get this error:

using android:src is even worse.

If I use one of the vector drawables with app:srcCompat all works fine. So I guess it&#39;s a problem with the SelectorDrawable and compatibility.

Has anyone had the same problem and found a solution or is it currently not possible to use VectorDrawables in SelectorDrawables prior to Android 5?

Android Selector Drawable with VectorDrawables srcCompat

I am new to `VectorDrawables`. 

I can see that the default `vector drawables` provided with android studio like `ic_menu_gallery`, `ic_menu_camera`, etc. are working great. So I tried to create my own `vector drawables` by converting my `png images` to `svg` first and using the path and fill values to make vector drawables i.e replaced the `android:pathData` for d and `android:fillColor` for fill tag in svg files. It somehow gave vector drawables but distorted or currputed looking.

If I am not taking the right approach please suggest me.

How to create vector drawables for android?

I want to set some **vectorDrawables** to a **ImageView** in Android Studio.

I can set png and jpg drawable easily but when i want to set VectorDrawable, it does not work on imageview.

    img.setImageResource(R.drawable.ic_home);

ic_home is VectorDrawable and this code doesn&#39;t work.
